    I ordered 4k but left off FX4 on purpose. This is a softroader to get you to the trailhead which AWD can easily handle. I did not want to lose eco and sport for 2 off road modes I would rarely use. Sport on this 250hp engine makes a big difference in passing power and overall fun.

    The one without the off-road package, towing package and AWD is just a truck shaped hybrid car. Basically a hybrid Ranchero.

      That is the exact market for that platform. High mpg with payload capacity and much more comfortable in day to day driving. They are going sell a zillion of these if they can keep the reliability up. As we are seeing $4+ per gallon and other inflation take hold trips in this to grab some mulch, plywood, ect means you can afford a sandwich for the ride home.

  • @americanrambler4972
    @americanrambler4972 Před 2 lety +3

    There are two things I want, front tow (recovery) hooks and the 4K tow package. I don’t necessarily need the FX-4 package, but the only way I can get the front recovery hooks is with the FX-4 package. Unfortunately, you cannot add the tow hooks to the Non FX-4 trucks because ford welds in some additional sheet structure body reinforcement supports in the front end to support the tow hooks which is not available on any other model configuration.
    My initial go to Maverick was the XLT FX-4 truck with the max tow package, but I am more and more being attracted to the Maverick XL Hybrid with the $100 2,000 pound tow hitch and 4pin wire harness simply because the performance of the hybrid is overall much better than I expected and the base XL is such a good value.

    While you were in the FX4 you should have switched the info screen on the dash to display how the power was being used between the F & R wheels. That could have been useful live data for your discussion! RH switch cluster on the wheel. Toggle the OK switch to switch windows on the dash.

    The only drive mode that really matters in the ecoboost is sport and that’s if your doing a roll race if your going from a dig just turn auto start stop off and stay in normal. Eco just makes your throttle response super slow and your cruise speed fluctuates everywhere

    The road conditions alone here in the North East are a reason to get this more beefy suspension. Not to mention the severe weather. The added drive modes are there if you need them. What blows me away are the folks that live in warm climates with FWD ? I don't get it.

    You don't need the FX4 package. This platform started as a FWD Focus platform, then to the Escape and then to the Bronco sport. It isn't made for off road. Just get the 4K package and you get the upgraded cooling, more gearing, hitch and 7 prong, built in brake controller and you are fine for the hot weather, even if you don't tow.
