  • The Ford Maverick XLT is a nice step up from the XL and gives people a lot of options that are common on most people's wish list. The Maverick XLT with the luxury package may be the package to buy! Want to see this vehicle in person? Wonderful small truck for those of us that use small SUVs but are frustrated that the small SUVs are getting less and less functional. For those of us that wish Honda still sold the Honda Element. I look forward to getting a Maverick.

Full disclosure, Santa Cruz owner here for almost two years and over 66,000km. And I LOVE it. That said, I fully understand how the Maverick appeals to people who want something more traditionally "truck" than the Cruz. Ford did a really good job at some features like having a light switch in the bed. That base hybrid is one heck of a value proposition too. I know people have been led to believe that you simply can't live in Canada without AWD/4WD ... but I survived over 40 years without either. Yes, even in harsh northern winters. LOL Honestly, the Tremor package on the Maverick is a very appealing option if you tend to do more off-road driving. But I'm a highway warrior, and for me, the look, comfort, and performance of the Santa Cruz will win out every time - FOR ME. In a world where the SC didn't exist, I'd have been one of the first to pre-order the Maverick.

@@bearpaw1486 almost 71,000km on it now, still LOVE IT. At my last service I did put our name on the waitlist for a Tucson PHEV though. Not to replace my SC, but to go with it and replace my wife's Equinox. The Cruz is basically my perfect vehicle. Hopefully it stays as trouble-free as it has been for another 200-300,000km. 😁

Same here, ordered early August, got a build date this week of November 10. The salesman says I should have it by new years, maybe Christmas.

Excellent video on the Maverick. The truck appeals to me in many ways. I have only sat in one on a lot - it was an XLT, and I would buy this model. I loved your presentation on the video. I found your information to be most valuable and you present it so well, and enjoyably. I plan to replace my tired old '03 Suburban Z71 and this video exposed me to so many of the great features. Likely, more so now, that this will be my next vehicle. Great job, thank you!

  • @fernandoformeloza4107

Don't get me wrong, love the Maverick, and am getting a loaded Maverick hybrid next week. Would have wanted many of the features in the Santa Cruz limited in my new Maverick, like 360 view camera, larger enfotainment screen, rear bench 40/60 split lift, power tailgate open, rear ac vents, standard built-in navigation, traditional stick gear shift, and ventilated seats, as for others not in Ford

In the USA cruise control is now standard on the XL, though that model costs about $3550. more than it did for the 2022 model year. Back then it was a $2280 upgrade to go to the XLT model, which got you cruise control. You just can't win with Ford and their pricing...

    In the US
    the Maverick ranges from $23,300-$50,690
    the Santa Cruz ranges $27,365-$49,995
More entry level buyers for the Mavericks, and while Ford dealers are gross with dealer markups, Hyundai dealers are even worse.
PLUS the aftermarket is going hard for customization for the Ford. Hyundai isn't as potent.

If a “damped” tailgate is something you have to mention while reviewing a TRUCK or something of interest when buying a truck it’s obvious a truck isn’t for you. Look into a minivan or something similar.

You really dont get much for a $3500 luxury package. Correct me if im wrong but this package doesn't even give you a better radio or speaker package. Im cool with the cloth seats as i dont like leather at all. However it just doesn't seem to be worth it. Your basically paying 3 grand for heated seats and the 360 cruise control. Its just meh.....

I don’t trust Ford’s hybrid Atkinson motor or the CVT transmission. A 10 year plus vehicle is more important to me than saving a couple of bucks on gas.

    • @dvader3263

Nobody wants this for a luxury vehicle. We want it for cheap transportation and Ford wont produce it at the bottom level of trim levels. If you werent throwing so many adds out i might keep listening. You sound like a commercial.
