I was thinking that your display was not clan after you clean it but I realise that was because of my dirty MacBook screen 😌
CatalinPCE jajaja
me too boy.. damn
same I was like that isn't clean at all and then I got out of full screen then I saw it
😂😂😂
Hahaha
the day has come to clean my Mac
i hate people like you can afford a mac but is too much of a lazy ass to get it clean smh
XXx420FortniteDaBest69xXX you good?
it’s been over two years for me. my time has come too
Just buy a screen protector it’s cheap.. like I do,
@@picoproclan yea but it fucks up the screen
In the previous version of this video, I sprayed screen cleaner directly on the screen. I've always done it this way and never experienced any issues, but as some of you noted, this is not recommended by Apple. As such, I've updated the video to show the correct method. Ignore the part at the end where I spray on the screen. Thank you for pointing this out.
The video still ends with you spraying directly onto the screen. Don’t know if that was intentional, but I’m letting you know.
@@jareddegood8313 Argh. Well I had good intentions. Just ignore that part, I guess? Or should I upload it for a third time?
Can’t you cut out the end of the video with CZcams’s video editor?
I sprayed cleaner directly on the screen of my MacBook pro last year and had to buy a new screen because of the liquid damage, def good advice to spray the towel
Hi 9to5Mac, does the spray leave marks and streaks, and am I able to use the cloth included with Whoosh?
Oh man, this was perfect. I've had the air blower, Whoosh, and had some fine microfiber clothes, but thanks to this video I realized I needed a bigger cloth (not just the tiny ones that are included) as well a better cleaning method. Thanks for this. It worked like magic.
I always get fingerprints on the top of the screen because it’s the only way to open it
Am having the same problem. How this can be solved?
@@pinakishoukalinghosh5373 clean ur mac and then put on some gloves and put a case and a screen protector, WITH GLOVES so no fingerprints
@@robloxplexus7490 why use screen protector? Admire the original high quality display. Screen protector gives undesirable plastic looking display with glare
pinaki shoukalin ghosh just use a microfiber cloth
just use a micro fiber cloth to open it smh
My Macbook screen gets this weird smudge marks on it and I have no idea why. I never touch the screen!
Captain Eggcellent it’s from your keyboard. Your oils and dirt from your hands get on the keyboard and then on your screen when you shut it
Hello CE, I've used this idea for years. The smudge marks maybe the natural oil deposits from your fingers tips on the key buttons. The oil dries and collects dust. When the screen cover closes and meets the key buttons this dirt transfers to the screen and on my MacBook leaves horizontal smudge marks on the screen which I notice the next day. Use a piece of 8 1/2" x 14" printer paper to shield the screen from the keys when you close the screen cover. You will need to trim this reusable paper to size to fit within your MacBook.
yeah, I don't think the screen gets an oleophobic coating like iPhones and iPads have
Ihi
G yuh
It's important to use as little force as possible. If you press down too hard you can cause micro abrasions in the screen and your screen will become dull overtime and you will never get that mirror reflection. Let the liquid and the microfiber do the work for you.
I made this mistake and now I can see some scratches after reading your comment
Ordered the same products on Amazon and followed your instructions. After I finished cleaning my screen I checked it with a flashlight -> absolutely clean, no streaks, scratches etc. whatsoever. The screen looks brand new - thank you for this!!! 💯💯💯
Did you use the included Whoosh cloth?
@@omarmaster8562 No, I used the costco microfiber towels (which is key in my opinion).
@@anton_01 Thanks 🤩
hi, is the first tool the air blaster essential ?
Id say no, but its cheap and useful :) @@mysterion5312
I used your guide and now my MacBook looks super clean!! Thank you.
Just went through this process, and my MacBook's screen looks amazing.
Hey i cant thank you enough ! . I have a 2019 27" Imac 5k . Yesterday i cleaned it with the Provided Cloth and literally made my screen awful and purple . I thought i had absolutely destroyed it . I saw this video and The Thick Cloth really worked . Thanks Again . I subbed
You are the best!!! This video helped me a lot, it seems like a minor task, but I have wasted hundreds of hours trying to effectively clean my macbook screen. the key is to use that handkerchief shown in the video, it is exactly the effect of a polisher.
It has never been so difficult to clean a laptop screen. kisses
Always wanted to know the best way to clean my screens. I'll be using this on all my screens. Thanks!
Micro fiber towels always gets the job done! i used them for my glasses a lot and it never leaves streaks my go to for removing fingerprints
Thanks! Came here looking for a suggestion on a cleaning solution and found some pro tips to clean my pro!! Appreciate it!
Very concise and helpful. Thank you very much. 🙏🏼
This is about to be a lifesaver, seeing finger prints and smudge drives me Nuts lol
I just wanted to thank you!!!! I did exactly what you say in this video. My MacBook Pro 💻 is impeccable!!! Looks brand new!!! 100000 likes

So as you guys can see, I have the 2020 MacBook Air
Nice
lol-
Great video, very honest, clear, concise and professional advice. Thanks Jeff!
unreal life hack, couldn't get the dang screen clean for the life of me and wanted to clean it before putting on a screen protector. good video!!!
I was struggling with the micro lens cloth leaving so much dry liquid marks behind. Windex and Costco microfiber worked perfectly with the wiping method. Thank you so much.
Thanks for this. I am coming from an HP touchscreen Windows laptop to my first MacBook and I always keep touching the darn screen out of habit so this is very helpful. First cleaning content I saw and I have no reason to look at another. Will turn the screen off before I start tho. Thanks for sharing although I am sure this will get lost in the comments. lol Linking with you. I like your Mac content. Super helpful!
Like you, Ive had HP laptops before having just gotten myself a MacBook recently. Im used to touching the screen on my HP. However , it was easy to remove the smudges off it with just water and quick wipe down. Relatively with little effort. No special cleaner needed. I find it harder to clean off smudges on my new M1 MacBook. Have you had the same experience. Any input from a former HP laptop user would be appreciated. Thanks
Turned out perfect! My MacBook looks amazing! THANKS!
Tbh, I glade that I even haven’t seen this video before but I’ve cleaned my mac like this way for years -)))
it was the towel for me, I wiped it once and it looked super clean!
Worked perfectly....thank you!
this actually worked amazingly well, most glasses cleaners work too from what I've tried!!
thanks! this was great! I have an M1 MAX and need to clean it up.
Thank you. You are a good teacher.
thanks for the info. I really appreciate this video
Can anyone recognise the 'Drip too Hard' (by Gunna) sample in the background there?? Nice touch dude 😊
The air blaster looks like something else
hey there bro thanks I will try this method.
Perfect, thanks. One clown managed to turn this video into 6:40 m. FFS!! Yours was perfect!
My macbook is SO clean right now. Thanks!
OMG I just received my stuffs earlier today through the help of HACKTAB0 on insta he’s the best you should also try him...
This is one of the most overcomplicated explanations of how to do a simple task that I've seen in a long time.
Yeah but take it from those who have made mistakes. If you don’t do it exactly like this, you will ruin your thousand or more dollars screen. The way they make them is waaay to sensitive. You can literally melt the top layer of the new screens off because of the anti reflective film they put on it if you use alcohol or certain soaps. Tap water has little shards and particles that scratch and streak your screen, and if you use tissues or paper towel, they literally are made from wood, and you will straight up scrape your screen.
I mean it’s what you have to look at whenever you use a computer, and they are expensive machines. Don’t take the easy way out. Do this crazy process or you will regret it for real.
@@ghost-user559 That's so true! I have a screen cleaner but I don't think it's compatible with my MacBook. It works great of other products like my 4k tv and iPhone but when I applied it to my Macbook the product didn't seem to apply very well.
@@gustavorosas4065 Yeah be very careful! I ruined my iPhone screen with microfiber cloth and made scratches on my old display. Luckily I never used alcohol or cleaner because I had already heard and seen the horror stories from that, but rip iPhone screen.
You can only use distilled water and be very careful. But I will say on the original iMac and MacBook from 2012 or earlier it was just glass, and you could use any glass cleaner, same with old tube TVs which were just a sheet of normal glass. These new ones have to be taken care of like crazy or they will fall apart after a single cleaning. Kind of crazy the fanciest most expensive stuff now falls apart the easiest.
No it wasn't. It was short, concise and to the point. You're just a troll. This video was perfect.
@@DarrenAltmanvo "you're just a troll", jesus the guy was just giving his opinion.
thanks a lot
it helped me clean my Mac
What helps me is if you have little spect of stuff, like some sort of dried liquid or debrie or whatnot, I took the microfiber cloth that I clean my glasses with, and instead of adding water or anything, I literally just used by _breath._ Just VERY SLIGHT moister from fogging up a spot is enough to loosen up and pick up the speck for the cloth to get without rubbing any oils around.
I don't know if I'd reccommend this, and I JUST bought a new laptop so it's very early on in the _still clean_ phase, but it works well as a preventative messure for the bigger streakier messes.
AWESOME VIDEO KEEP IT UP!!!!!
Very useful video.
i use propanol 75% for cleaning and no other solvent. Apple also recommends this. Thanks for the video.
Thank You my friend!
Do you have any videos or instructions on how you clean the bottom side of your Macbook Pro? (i.e. the keyboard and touch bar)
Great tutorial! Does this still apply for the new macbook pros (14" & 16"). Apple's instructions are to clean only with water, but that doesn't work well. Thanks!
I have always used iKlear cleaner/polisher on my screens and have been very pleased with the results. Has anyone here used both iKear and Woosh? I have read some comments about how Woosh negatively affects the oleophobic coating on screens on the long term.
Thank you!
I used to use microfiber cloths like this to clean all of my screens until I noticed that (at a very close glance) they were putting very small scratches on the screens. I now use a 100% cotton cloth/tshirt and it works much better.
Microfibers will never leave scratches when they're new. It isn't until you wash and re-use that they leave small scratches
@@julioguzman5434 new out of the package I noticed scratches
@@cammie0105 It’s because once you use it even just one swipe it picks up tiny shards of dust and dirt and then it traps it in the fibers. Then you are basically rubbing your screen with sandpaper.
So the microfiber only works for people who don’t ever let dust build up. Otherwise the second you wipe it, you are just rubbing microscopic dust against the glass.
LOVE IT!!!
thank yoy man. it works
I have an iMac full of those annoying tiny drops and I can't seem to get rid of them. I don't have a specific display cleaner, could I use a glass cleaning tissue as well?
Hello thank you for the video. Do you recommend to use screen protector or hardshell case? Have you ever used them?
ahh cool I am going to do this with my iMac!!!
Can you put a video how to clean keyboard and touch pad? Thanks.
i need to know this too
Due to past experiences with retina displays I would highly recommend a screen protector for the screen once you buy it to avoid to damage the coat the screen has
What kind? Glass or plastic screen protector?
@@johnaart don't use screen protector on MacBook, it'll damage the Retina display.. apple doesn't recommend screen protector for MacBook
Thank you so much! My screen and camera are such a messy blur and the water with cloth does not work!
best tutorial
The screens are impossible to clean with the included cloths that apple used to provide but this it the real way to do it.
Can you also do the cleaning tutorial for keyboard and the touchbar. My touchbar just oily on the right side area where I mostly swipe volume and brightness..
Touch Bar is okay, but don’t use on keyboard.
Thank so much !!!
Went inverting the towel (I use the exact towel btw) it wasn’t picking up the water that well for some reason and it left fried water marks on the screen. So wheat I ended up doing is drying the screen with the same technique but with a 100% cotton shirt and it worked amazingly
same here. screen has streaks all over it
I see you got that gunna beat in the background lol
Certainly trying that tomorrow. Hate a dirty screen🤨
I’ve heard that other people say you should always turn off the mac before cleaning the screen but I also do the same of only dimming the screens brightness. Should I be worried of any bad consequences or it’s just fine?
Whoosh is the best!
Nice video i also struggled for cleaning my laptop so i cleaned it with my glass spray😂🤓
Don’t use that spray! It will melt off the top layer and ruin your screen eventually! Only use distilled water and never spray it on the screen, only on the cloth you use.
I appreciate the video. Thanks. But how to clean the keyboard etcetera?
Thanks!!
thanks man
Just use a microfibre towel/cloth and should work for any screen.
Watching it even before my MacBook is delivered
Any tips on dealing with discolored portions of the macbook case? Got a space grey macbook 16 inch and it started discoloring on the left side where my palm rests.
whoosh will take the retina coating to peel off, water suggested.
Suggestion: next time TURN your MacBook OFF, because dust is attracted by static electricity.
It’s not recommended to completely shut off all the time. I always close it and put the MacBook in a laptop case and close it
@Takemehome Lord it isn’t good for the battery 🔋
@Alin Campan GamingShutdown macOS and don't close lid, unplug the cables example power adapter. Then you can clean the dust.
How come you don't use the orange microfiber cloth that comes with the Whoosh cleaner?
Hey, I used a Whoosh! product, but rather than the spray like in the video, I used their disposable wipes. But, even after cleaning the screen with the wipes and drying it with the included microfiber cloth, the screen has some ugly smudges, it's not as pristine as your screen looks. Why is that?
Does the wipe version not work as well as the spray? I'd assume it would be the same?
Finally the day to clean my new MacBook Pro 16
thanks
Viewer from NEPAL .. Comment the country you are from . 😃😃😃😃 ..
Loved the video btw .
Same I'm from nepal
When you showed the final result, i thought it was still dirty but it was my screen
Loved it thanks! Where do you find the airblaster?
Amazon
Been 2 years lets goooooo 😩
I’ve always had problems cleaning the screen
Do we need to wash the cleaning tissue? If yes, when and how do we need to wash it? Thanks.
thanks for the useful video. I just wanna add that Apple recommends to shut down the computer before cleaning.
*An alternative is just a damp cloth, which is the safest and the easiest. Just don’t use a paper towel or a tissue which leaves dust behind and may scratch you screen. Just lightly damp a clean cloth and lightly clean your screen, then use the opposite side of the cloth if needed to dry off the screen. If their is streaks left, just try it again but clean the screen in a circle motion. If that leaves streaks too, don’t try again because it may lead to ruining the screen if you keep repeating. If streaks are still showing after this method get a normal screen cleaner like whoosh. Just don’t use glass cleaners which have alcohol and ammonia which may leave a stain on your laptop screen. I know all of this because I learned this the hard way. So use a damp cloth and if that doesn’t work get a normal screen cleaner like Whoosh.*
What happens if you use a glass cleaner?
Is it fixable?
@@user_-vv6is glass cleaners like windex have alcohol in them which is bad for the screen. Because some screens have a coating, like an oleophobic coating that gets damaged from alcohol. And that would leave a stain on your screen.
@@user_-vv6is also it depends on what laptop your using, maybe some screens are fine if you use glass cleaners. Don’t worry though, if you used it once nothing would happen, if it was damaged it would be noticeable from a stain. So just don’t do it again, and don’t worry, your screen is fine if you haven’t noticed anything.
Best tip in addition to everything you said is DO NOT flip the microfiber. The streaks come from the oil on your hands when you hold the cloth. Just buy a multi pack of the cloths and use only one side of each for wiping with the water, and then another one (one side only) for drying.
If you try flipping the cloth over like you would think would make sense, you are now actually causing streaks because you are rubbing the oils from your fingers all over the freshly cleaned screen.
Spraying cleaning liquid on screen directly - Normal Cleaning
Spraying cleaning liquid on the cloth instead - iCleaning (And it costs too $99) even if you're doing it by yourself.
Would you recommend the use of a screen protector?
haha I was like ummm dude I see stuff EVERYWHERE you did NOT do a good job cleaning your screen and then I was like oH haha that's just myyyy screen 😂
Perfect
Is it a good idea to touch the edges of the screen? Because there is a weird space at the boundary of screen and outer shell and dust is gathering in there for my macbook. Do you think water will penetrate from there? I don't know it is an opening or not.
Wow, I just used Water from my brita with the Same cloth, It is like the day I bought it Again
Is it safe to do this cleaning on M1 pro 14” screen? I’ve heard report a screen containing deadpixel (i also got one) it seems like the quality of the display/screen has decreased for apple-silicon mac unit
Apple recommends using only clean water to clean the screen. Any comments on that vs the liquid you used?
don't you use the screenprotector for mac? I mean I too don't use it but just asking because i intend to buy so can you please say should I buy a screenprotector and keyboard cover or not?
@0:07 Dis..GUSTINGG
At least it isn't as bad as mine
Is it true that you should't use screen protector and keyboard cover for any of macbook laptops?
ok i know im hella outdated but my late 2013 macbook pro has that delamination affect , is there any fix to this other the listerine and a trip to the genuis bar ? theyre just gonna tell me to upgrade like DUH i would if i could
Can you use the spray on your Macbook Pro keyboard and laptop body aswell as the screen or is there something else to use for that? Thanks
