  • If you're looking to sell your laptop, or just want to give it a bit of a clean, this tutorial video is for you. I show you how to safely clean your laptop with a few household items, including isopropyl alcohol, a compressed can of air, and screen cleaning liquid.
This guide is easy to follow, and will show you how to clean the screen of your computer, remove dust from laptops, clean the keyboard and body, and also clean dust from the fan and internal part of the laptop.
Both Mac and PC computer owners can follow along, including MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Dell XPS, Razer, and Lenovo devices, and even those with iPads or tablets.

NOTE: If you're worried about the paper towel scratching your screen, use a microfiber towel instead. I personally have just used paper towels for 10 years without issues and zero scratches. MacBook screens are fairly tough but other brands may not be.

Cleaning in this way makes micro scratches on the display. Generally, it is better to touch the display as little as possible ... normally the scratches are not visible, but if someone paranoidly cleans the screen, I advise them to shine a flashlight on the phone up close and see what damage they have done to the coating anti-reflective.

@@sakanikadik7626 yes, water marks on the screen are usually due to hard water. To remove them on a laptop screen the safest way is to use a non abrasive cleaning product that is meant for hard water and lime scale. However, i do believe they are quite rare because most Cleaning products are a bit abrasive given that they are commonly made to clean window screen and bathroom fixtures.

@@sakanikadik7626 but if there are no water marks yet and you're just wondering if the water will make a fleck on the screen, then I'm afraid it's quite difficult to know if it will, because it will require testing the water if it is hard or not.

Any tips for newer cleaning the keyboard on MBPs that turn on whenever any key is pressed?

@scripteaze I'd like to clean the keyboard while the laptop is off. Especially when I need to use a damp cloth to wipe off any excess grime.

Hi - useful vid. The only thing I would question is that Apple recommend only water for cleaning the screen. Are you absolutely certain that alcohol won't damage it? Thanks

Don’t use alcohol for the screen. Use a slightly damp (with water) cloth or special screen cleaning solution.
