- Strife interviewed the prince, Ken Swift, on November 24, 2012. The original interview lasted 2 hours. We will be releasing the interview in segments such as this throughout the month of November and December of 2012.
Thank you McMaster University in Canada for giving us the opportunity.
filmed and interviewed by Daniel Zhu. STRIFE.TV
as said in the beginning of this video, we will be uploading this interview in segments over the course of the next few weeks.
How does someone of his power still stay so humble !!!???? Mad respect !!!!! :)
A podcast would be interesting. It will most likely be posted on our Facebook fan page. We may do one at the end of all the interviews. Thanks for the suggestion!
i have so much respect for you ken swift. Peace!!!!!!!!
What he meant was that you should be an all around dancer, but to break, to feel that "go off" heat, you have to wait for the song that hits you, which is usually in the break portion of a tune.
whos the muppet that disliked this? disliking this is like blasphamy...because if your disliking anything that this MAN (and he is THE MAN) says your disrespecting a god....Ken swift is a living legend with more flavour and style than any other bboy then or now, a true origanal and an inspiration as well as a fountain of knowledge..nothing but love, respect and gratitude for the prince......brilliant interview cant wait to see more!
Man I can relate to this, I get pressured into breaking at social / school events when I'm not feeling it AT ALL. I always felt like I had to do SOMETHING at least because I didn't wanna be a wet rag but now I'm making it a personal standard to only go out when I'm really feelin it. Thanks Strife and Ken Swift for this.
respect to strifetv and ken swift for sharing mad insight.
Wisdom. Just pure, unadulterated truth and WISDOM.
great knowledge, music is the truth!
I honestly can't wait for the rest of this interview. There's so much knowledge that I gained from this video. Much love and respect for taking the take to put all these up (whenever that may be) and teaching to the generations
Big up to Strifetv and Ken Swift for sharing knowledge!

This is sick Strive Tv dope ass content again, dying to meet Ken Swift
Love this. So insightful.
This mirrors exactly what I've been thinking about the music being played in the last couple years, insanely fast chase music.
Well put. Music moves Your soul. Find your music and dance baby!
its all about style. thats a great speech
Thanks man respect
Thats dope!! So many new Bboys Bgirls dont understand the concept of Searching for breaks, rather just ask for breaks to be put straight on their harddrive. Peace Ken, Strife. Awesome knowledge
Ken Swift rockin the new Nets gear!
PREACH!
"style is everything"
Awesome episode Strife tv! I always enjoy hearing Ken Swift, he drops knowledge like no one else. By the way, just a question: Is there any way we can watch (or hear) the entire interview? Like a podcast or something?
strifeTv..u have to full version of this interview???i wish to learn more from him...i meet him once..he just blow my mind away
I learn alot
then the jam should pick a different DJ, lol. honestly, yo, we should pick our DJs wisely for events.
preach
real talk
seems like everyone agrees with this but next time be at a jam...just analyze everyone, kats still doin opposite then what Ken is stating..lol and most of them dont even realize it...but shouts to Ken for always droppin gems
Though it's funny because even though I bash heads with a lot of people over the context of should I play my beats during a battle, I know in my heart there is someone somewhere who wants to smoke another bboy to one of my beats because to them my mixes fit their personal context. So whether or not I get an answer, I'll still make beats because there is someone hungry to rock and destroy another bboy to my anime breaks!
Can't wait to see the rest of the interview.
whoa from strife! thanks for helping me understand:) Daniel Zhu is this?
true
Watching this while listening to Headhunters- God Made Me Funky.
aite...have to sit tight n wait
I've actually been discouraged before from playing my beats at certain practices I've been to with other bboys just because they didn't "feel it." So maybe I'm just looking for some kind of reassurance that the beats I've made are something people want to rock to, to cypher to, to battle to, etc. I guess I could of just been like every other DJ and mix just funk, but I'm not. This segment of an interview is very insightful, but I wouldn't mind seeing it in action in regards to my beats.
Cool Story bro
This brings up a HUGE question from me. Even though I make beats for bboy/bgirls, I've honestly never knew anyone except for a close friend of mine "rock" one my beats. I really worry sometimes because I'm honestly making these beats not just for someone to practice to, but to battle to as well, to cypher to and to smoke someone to. Though it's whether or not other bboys think it fits the "context" that is my issue. Most of my beats are not funk remixes, they are something else. [continuing]
when i first started thats the stance i took
i dance when i feel it not cause ppl around me want to be entertained
its a dance and its the music that makes it a dance
wet rag or not, you should disregard the opinions of those who dont break when it comes to breaking
they're not gonna know when to give u props when you do some sick technical stuff n murder a beat with it but will when you do some yuppy power or a recognizable move. theyre just there for a show so just do you
pressure's a bitch
I believe in this cause it tue I seem a lot of bboys does that when the music change the that person dance different because the music change,,,
wait, i dont get why he said that you should have the ability to rock any song then go on to say dance to the songs you like. that was a little bit confusing. but yeah, learned alot!
I sometimes never feel a song for a whole jam, feels like shit sitting around for 10 hours lol
i go to mcmasters! :D
anyone has english subtitle for this video can send me plz
i like jalepeno salsa
How to find my style?
those who cant dance will blame it on the music
