So basically if u take one of those air hammers, you can blast the old bolt and nut into the box frame. Then in the side of the frame there is a small access hole. You can drop a brand new bolt down that hole, have the threads come thru and put a nice stainless nut. That’s how I always go about that issue.

Quick question...that connector on the ECU harness that goes into the solenoid box in the pan...
How likely are those to fail and how likely are the wires to corrode or burn up from transmission heat ?
My moms 5r55S all of a sudden went in limp mode out and throwing low circuit codes for shift B and C pressure solenoids and the Torque Converter Clutch out of nowhere and I bet it has something to do with that connector or the wiring from it to the ECU...
If not, it's the solenoid pack itself, which is like $400..🤦🏾‍♂

This would give me better highway economy and lower engine rpm’s and still give me the good acceleration because of the lower first and second gears in the 55w.

I bought a 2003 explorer with 210k miles for $600. Owner thought it threw a rod or worn bearing after hearing a loud rattle coming from within the engine and didn't want to fix it. After doing some research I believe it's the infamous 4.0 sohc death rattle coming from the front timing chain. It also needs a valve cover gasket and there is oil one of the spark plugs as well as rear diff is leaking fluid. Other than the engine problems, the condition of this car is a solid A. Tires are brand new including spare, absolutely no damage to the body other than that notorious crack down the back hatch. Interior is pretty pristine for an 03. It has no rust at all. All of the electronics work. AC blows ice cold. I'm sure the transmission is reaching the end but as of now still works well. My question is, what should I do with it. I really need another vehicle that can pull a medium trailer and would consider having it fixed if it made sense to do so. Would it be worth it to pull the engine and replace the timing components and gaskets or is the engine past its expiration date? Buying a used engine seems like a dice roll and hooking a reman to a 200k transmission doesn't seem to sensible. I'd appreciate some guidance! thanks!
