  • Family Edition video today, Cousin Nick's vehicle (The Fab4) stopped moving so he had towed in (Turbo Coupe Frankie). Problem was blown converter led to clogging the filter and the car stopped moving but we got him all fixed up and back on the road. Thanks for watching, please like and give thumbs up.

You make it look so easy, sending away my transmission to a rebuild shop. It was a used one i bought 2020,not this time u getting it rebuilt. A new rebuilt from work 4 years ago was expensive, but it still be running, maybe. Have a good week bud. Ps,me being a pack rat, i kept the other transmission,it got very hot, overdrive light on. By the time i got home, shut it down, fired it up,no gears.😂

Nice video. I do repair transmissions, and this 5r55w-s tends to get destroyed after the filter gets clogged because of the faulty torque converter. I believe this is the worst trans ever made by Ford. maybe im wrong.. Good job. keep it up. love from Venezuela.

Incredible! I would never get this thing back together. In fact I could not even get it apart. My 2003 explorer transmission just quit. When I checked the fluid level, the fluid was black. And this transmission is only 3 years old as a rebuilt one was installed.

Unbelievable! you actually saw my comment. Thank you very nuch. Not long after I had the transmission replaced, probably about 4 months, the Overdrive light started flashing after driving the vihicle a bit. But it still ran ok. He told me it was probably nothing because the vehicle still ran just fine and if it got worse to call him. It did not get worse but I noticed what appeared to be an oil or transmission leak so I took the explorer to him about a year ago, he checked the fluid level and said it was ok. My wife was driving it two weeks ago and it jumped into the next higher gear when she pulled out from a stop light. When she tried to back out from work, the car stopped moving in reverse and also would not go forward. So her co workers pushed it back into the parking space. But when she got into it later, It ran ok and she drove it home. I also drove it in all the gears including reverse and it drives ok. So I checked the fluid level, it appears ok but the fluid is quite black!@@GaryFerraro

Theres something wrong, maybe filter partly clogging up. Something should have been done when that light was flashing. I would never let a customer drive it with the light flashing, means computer see a problem. Do you know what code was present?

2005 explorer xlt 4.0 with the 5r55s.. no reverse.. all forward gears seem to work fine.
Had a notification prior "check advtrac" (sorry running on fumes)
Had a slight knock from trans area, i didnt listen long but sounded like TC per its rhythm with the rpms.
Then one day it just had no reverse. I hadnt had anytime to check it out.. was hoping it would last longer than it did.
I can work a wrench, but never rebuilt a trans.. not sure what process for diagnosing no reverse other than start at the pan, watch youtube, and hope i can find some help..

Sounds like your reverse band is broken. If the car upshifts with no problem tells me your direct clutch is good, so you just have the band left that would engage reverse

Great video Gary. I have one of these in a 2010 Mustang. Its throwing a PO741 code. The car has 109K miles on it and drives and seems to shift good. I'm trying to decide if I should throw a converter, solenoid pack and fluid at it or if I should just buy a reman one and install it. I don't really know the service history, my guess is none. This was her boyfriends car before we got it and he was running it hard one night, it backfired and then the wrench starting coming on with this code, no other transmission codes comes up. She plans to keep the car for a long time, so maybe the reman route is the way to go, its just really expensive lol.
Any advice on a reman company to look at? I know I want the servo sleeves installed if I go that route. Thanks for the advice. Russ

Hi Gary, I have the code you asked for on the 2008 bmw 528i, to refresh your memory,
The car stayed on Park and would not engage to any other gears.
We changed the valve body, empty the old fluid and replaced with 10 quarts of Pentosin Atf 1,
Same problem, it wouldn't engage, however after 10- 15 minutes of idling the check engine/ transmission light turned off and it worked perfectly. Drove it down the highway and it performed great.
Next day , same issue the next day. Will not engage into any gears from Park position.

The only code I'm getting is a P0733. The overdrive off light starts flashing when it slips. I've heard the intermediate servo can get loose. There is a patented modification servo kit available. They say it can be done without pulling the transmission. Any help would be appreciated 👍

Hey Gary, I have a few questions about a video you did on an 09 Toyota Corolla with code P2757. I too believed it was a mechanical issue, had transmission serviced, replaced the TCC solenoid, and still no luck. Have been trying to take it to the dealership and have spent 3 thousand dollars on their suggested repairs/maintenance and all for none to work. I did end up replacing the ECU myself from a company that remanufactures the computers, is it possible I got a faulty computer? The car did feel good after replacing the ECU but it only lasted for a few days before just feeling the same again, if not a faulty computer then any other ideas? I would think my only choice would be to try to get a computer from the dealership
