      Do two teams: One with and one without England... just to see who else you thought were good outside those in white.

    I’m a kiwi bloke living in Canada. Watch Super Rugby Aupiki. Our players are much better than 2022. The 2025 WRWC should be a doozy. I hope the final is a replay of the last WRCW final. If so, Twickenham will be sold out. I have no doubt England will be hot favourites, but our Black Ferns will be up to the task. I have been to the last 4 RWC. Next year I hope to go to the WRWC. I love touring England. I will cheering the womens game no matter who wins. It’s fabulous to watch.

    England are playing amazing rugby John Mitchell has really given them some freedom to play what is in front of them. The back line are class but I would like to see Abby Dow look for options because sometimes it’s not n for her. In the previous match she was taken down before the line and she had options outside her.

    • @KatMerchant
      @KatMerchant  Před měsícem

      That's the risk with quality finishers, they really back themselves. I get what your saying but wouldn't want it to go to far the other way.

    The England machine v French flair. Wow. One thing is certain, these women fully deserve the crowds they are drawing.

    Clearly England are way ahead of all the other teams (except France - close but not there yet) but what I think is needed is for all the Unions to get really, really serious about their Women's sides both from funding (professional contracts etc.) and from providing decent fixtures (linked with PWR?). Also, of course, everybody needs to be patient - and be aware that England are going to keep moving forward and are not going to wait for everyone else to catch up? Exciting times ahead but let's stop whining about England being too good!
    Thoughts?

    • @KatMerchant
      @KatMerchant  Před měsícem +3

      Agreed. England can't be expected to not push forwards while other nations catch up but I really hope they are able to get some meaningful competition more consistently. I think that comes from both funding and organisation. It will take time but hopefully not too much!

    Feel like Wales took a massive mental hit from that Ireland game and haven't managed to get over it, better than last week but still not where they should be, not managing to score with the possession/territory wales had isn't the most reassuring of performances. Italy game could be interesting, especially if they feel pressure to perform, could end up psyching themselves out.
    Scotland definitely seem the more assured team of the two going into the game, win away against Italy will have likely given them confidence going into it, potential for Ireland fight back which could spice it up a bit though
    France - England set to be a right old scrap, could so easily go both ways, think England could edge it, particularly if they're given the same/similar possession and territory as Wales. If the French lineout also keeps malfunctioning, it could pose an issue, was pointed out during the Ireland game that England were consistently scoring after a lineout turnover.
    Really putting the super in super Saturday these three games, in for a good day of rugby regardless of what happens.

    • @KatMerchant

    English backline was immense, no surprise it was Aitchinson best game of the tournament. She plays so flat to the line, when she’s on form she creates space for the likes of Kildunne, Dow etc. Jones at 13 has added so much pace both sides of the ball, her line speed in defence is frightening. Thought it was Heards best game at 12 this tournament, only way Scarrett gets a look in now is at 12, so her and Heard be good battle. Matthews has quietly had an amazing tournament in the back row, goes under the radar compared to Kildunne, Botterman and Aldcroft. Also think Muir at tighthead is key to our team now.
    Big decision going forward is who our starting 9 is. Hunt was great but at 35, is she better coming off the bench with the world cup in mind. I’d get Claudia McDonald fit and either play her at 11 or 9 cause she is so good she has to play.

    • @KatMerchant
      @KatMerchant  Před měsícem

      I wouldn't focus on age too much, play the best players, win the immediate games. Looking forward to Claudia coming back!

    In my opinion: wins for England, Ireland, and Wales, if their playing at home, if away - Italy.

    I think England went from a forwards dominated team to backs overnight? What a spectacular game it was, if you’re English that is. If they play with that flair in France then it’s a slam dunk. I’d be very worried if I were a Kiwi.

    If I could make a constructive comment. I really enjoyed your comments and analysis. Invite and interview some of the men CZcams pundits on the women’s game. Like Eggchasers, Two cents and Alfred Reynolds. They could help you grow the channel. I much prefer watching the women’s game. The problem with the W6N at the moment is the utter dominance of England. I am hoping France are up to the task.

    Great previews! And reviews too. 💪
    I fully agree that Eng needs to have better discipline, hold no prisoners and go for a win and then a big score. As good as they are, they are not current world champions (to my and everyone's shock in the NZ RWC) and the focus for Eng has to be on discipline and being good enough to win the RWC this time around! 💪💪

      When you have double standards in refereeing it is very simple to loose. Discipline can be top notch but make one mistake and get a card. Ireland bought down a Maul in the first half England got a Penalty advantage, didn't need it by the way Kildunne scored during the Advantage time, England do it in the second half, and in exactly the same position, Penalty try to Ireland, and a Yellow card. Biased referee, EXACTLY the same as in the RWC final. New Zealand did several dangerous tackles on England players, all totally ignored England do one, and BAM RED card instantly. England ARE the current Rugby World Champions they were robbed by the ref, and the TV Ref.

    • @michaelbaker7499
      @michaelbaker7499 Před 11 dny

      @@thetruthhurts7675been saying this since the world cup. We were robbed, just look at how one of new zealand's tries was off the back of foul play at the line out and another off a forward pass. That's 10 points right there.

    • @thetruthhurts7675
      @thetruthhurts7675 Před 11 dny

      @@michaelbaker7499 It is like everything else the Red Card for England was on the back of almost exactly the same tackle by New Zealand, a few minutes earlier, nothing for them RED for England. Referees seem to have been told to even the teams out by giving England unwaranted reds.

    • @michaelbaker7499
      @michaelbaker7499 Před 11 dny

      @@thetruthhurts7675 I don't accept that the reds to England are unwarranted and I can't remember the tackle you're on about.
      But I can remember the tackle on Abby Dow that resulted in a yellow when it was exactly the same offence as what Lydia Thompson did

    Kat, watching Abby Dow's brutal hand-offs for her first try which sent those two Irish girls sprawling reminded me of a certain winger who was part of England's World Cup winning team in 2014.
