    I think you should run this test in a case and with GPU also loaded to get realistic temperatures.I tried the stock and actually it was ok when running prime or other cpu test. It was when I tried gaming it actually went up to 95c. I put more fans to my case and no use. It is the combination of GPU and CPU generating heat that makes the stock really lack cooling power. I went to buy Noctua NH-U12S and now it goes to 68c tops(I even took some case fans out to reduce wind noise). But you are 100% correct recommending to replace the stock.

    Hey mate. Quick question. I noticed you mentioned in the video that you had already flashed that MOBO. However, as someone coming from an intel system to hopefully that same 5600x, do you know of any mobos that come already updated for said CPU since I don't have an older AMD one to use for the flashing? Thanks.

    • @HoosierHardware

      I don't have my own Prism cooler anymore, but it should be more than enough for the 5600X since it's significantly better than the stealth.

    Great review and exactly what I needed to know! Please explain one thing: Why were you required to do a BIOS update first?? I thought the 550 chipset is ready to go with Ryzen 5000!? Thank you!

    • @libertyprime9307
      @libertyprime9307 Před 3 lety

      I'm not totally sure, but I would guess some B550s, if they were purchased early and never flashed, still need to be updated to work on Zen 3.
      Newer purchases might have already been updated by the manufacturer or seller.
      The Selective Beta BIOS is what you're thinking of, and is needed for B450 but not B550.

    • @libertyprime9307
      @libertyprime9307 Před 3 lety

      The difference being that the Selective Beta BIOS requires a Zen 3 chip, Zen 2 won't work anymore so you could basically brick your mobo if you don't have the right CPU.

    You said pbo off and got 4300 with stock settings on stock cooler. I got aresgame river 5 for my 5600x and with pbo on, cb r20 gives 4380 points and cpu hits 80celcius running at 4400mhz on all cores no throttling. With pbo off cpu hits 60 celcius and gives 4000 points and cpu runs at 4099mhz on all cores. Are these normal? I used thermalgrizzly kryonaut thermal paste and bios is latest on msi b550 carbon wifi and ram is 8*2 3600mhz on xmp profile. Can it be that your motherboard might be turning on pbo by default? Thank you.

    Hey dude. Sorry for the late message. I have just put in at 5600x and my idle temps are at around 65C and 95C under load. I applied thermal paste before putting the cooler on, so I'm thinking that maybe I have added too much since the cooler comes with it pre-applied. Does this sound correct to you? Thanks in advance.

      I was thinking about this question as well and I'm reading that some motherboards have a flash bios thing that allows you to update from a USB flash drive. I believe that my x570 Tomahawk has it so hopefully I can figure stuff out by the time I get my 6800 on the 15th.

This is a prebuilt pc do you think they forgot to remove the cooler sticker or maybe added less thermal paste than it should?
