#MakeRoom - Simple words to capture a life - changing beautiful act of kindness. Magnificent reflection! "Nobody is ever just a single thing. never reduce people to one thing; we dehumanize people when we do." Yes, please stop portraying people through negative lenses. I type this as a turn runs down my I because assumptions / stereotypes hurt people and keep people from reaching their full potential. Yes! We must stop accepting the media's narrow coverage of people who people are from other countries that are labeled "developing." So true, the movement of people is not new. The laws and policies are and it is all about power + control of people, places and things. It is economics. What really matters? Valuing humanity and expressing empathy. Dignity and love are as important as food and water. We are more alike than different and yes, "we must act daily on our humanity." We are all connected and we all deserve to be respected and protected from physical and emotional harm. "There is always room to do more" and to be compassionate when helping people get their needs met to improve their quality of life. Start where the individual or group is and build off of their strengths. We are all unique and have assets to create positive global changes and share resources collectively. Thank you. #InspirationIsFree 😊 peace. GOD's love. light. Tweets: @SusanaPablo ||| Keep The Faith. 💓

Amazing speech. The word speech doesn't do it justice, because it was deep and emotional. Amazing truth. Strong, amazing, truthful, and passionately accurate. Well done Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie!

Men put borders, God did not.
Human history is a story of movement and mingling. Dignity is as important as food.
Ifunaya - I see you as you truly are on the inside - Love.

@Charlene Dean, we may not need love alone, seemingly, what we need is to open up our hearts and create a little space for value, laughter, joy, dignity, empathy, care, justice, peace, love, dreams and many good seeds, that characterise humanity, to blossom. What we need is a garden-like heart and we would be marvelled at the beautiful flowers that sprout therein.

Very nice but i do wonder how Chimamanda speaks about the war like if she was there.. born in 1977 she couldnt have been there ..so i do wonder..

She was born only 7years after the war... it’s only logical that she still met the aftermath of the killings and destructions; the scars it left behind.

She has said she spent 6.5 years doing research on the war for her Half Of A Yellow Sun, and was constantly asking questions about it from the age of 13/14. Her father also told her about his experiences. So I think she's able to talk about the war like if she was there because her research was a chance to immerse herself in that time of the war. I think it's something she deeply cares about capturing well, because when she gave her father HOAYS she was so nervous that she didn't want to be there as he read it (she left their home 😄) and called her brother to tell her what daddy's facial expression is as he reads it.
Her care to want to capture the story of the war accurately is what I think enables her to speak this way.
