    Lasso straps look tops from here. For the newcomers including myself, I like to put at least one safety chain from the rear axle of each vehicle to a reliable tie down point. Just in case you may have to perform an emergency sudden braking manover and the straps are put to the test.

    I did around the tire, never came off, I had a hard time once around the tire getting them off, excellent tie-downs

    most people don't go straight out sideways, if you angle them it works great

    Yes those have been around multiple decades. The towing industry uses them as normal operations, it amazes me that since the popularity has grown for UTV's that more people don't use this method.

    I use lasso straps. I feel like there is something better out there but they work pretty well for now. On my set up I have to cross them in the middle. Only the chains touch in the middle but I'd prefer to lasso my tire and go out instead of in.I just don't have the room on my strap.

    Thanks for this video, just got my 1st Can-Am X3 and turns out tying it down to a trailer is not as trivial as I thought lol coming from 2 wheel dirbikes. This method looks like it will work with my trailer.

    MACS UTV Tie Down Nets....way better system, trailer might need some small adjustment though but IMO worth it.

    You need to go at least 45 degrees kinda like the wY you ran through the wheel but over with the straight down allows movement

  • @bigbr4
    @bigbr4 Před 2 lety +2

    When going over your tire, you put it so the front tires pull forward and rear tires pull back. Pulling straight down to center is dangerous and completely wrong. The way you have them at the end will work but eventually will wear the strap.

  • @january2568
    @january2568 Před 3 lety +2

    I did that but the rims cut the strap half way after a 6 hour drive...

    I believe you are supposed to say “that’s not going anywhere” after the item is secured.

  • @fx7775
    @fx7775 Před 2 lety

    I use the same straps. I've always been concerned with the wheel damage doing it like that.
    I use the straps through the front lower a-arms to allow the suspension to do its job
    The rear I run them over the axle. It's a little more work but it's a cleaner look & no worries on the wheels.
    I don't strap on the frame bc they could loosen up with the bouncing around. Hints why I grab it from the suspension. As it's going down the road, it can bounce all it wants. It's planted on the floor by the suspension

    Curious how much rock your would have with them tied on around tire (like first attempt) if you ran machine all the way to the rail

    • @mikeoutdoors769
      @mikeoutdoors769  Před 2 lety +1

      I think that would definitely help. Even just pulling the straps at a slight angle and not straight down really helps with any rocking.

    I strap mine the same way and you will need to watch out for the straps rubbing the coating off your rims.

    • @mikeoutdoors769
      @mikeoutdoors769  Před 3 lety +3

      Yes, I’ve got the hillbilly brake. The point was to show the average consumer that may not have a brake what it looks like tied down with the lasso style tie downs.

      I have the same straps for my ranger, and the trick is to not have them pull straight down. Instead have one pull forward and the other pulling backwards. And also when you cinch them down have the rings pull back towards the ratchet to get a bite on the strap. No movement at all. 👌🏼

  • @coveryourmanhole3271
    @coveryourmanhole3271 Před rokem

    You definitely should make an adjustment. They should be inline with the wheel, and go from the tire both to the middle of the car, or the ends of the car. each strap in any situation should work as an antagonist for the opposing strap.

  • @bosshogkcmo

    The first Shake test you did. The front tires was not up against the front rack. Also u need to put the utv in park. not a good comparison.

    • @mikeoutdoors769
      @mikeoutdoors769  Před 3 lety +2

      The Utv was in park. The lasso’s do better if you don’t pull straight down but at an angle, however that’s not how the instructions recommend.

    • @danlux4954
      @danlux4954 Před 3 lety

      My lasso straps show to tie a little front of the center of the wheels or to the back of the wheels. You won’t get the rocking the way mine get attached, just don’t go too far away from the tires.
