I love that throughout the carriage there was consent. From the moment the arrived he asked if he could please get in the carriage he didn’t just bust in, also they paused throughout giving moments to continue or stop if they wanted to not go too far and he waited for her nod before getting more intimate. Their romance is so sweet. I love that they can be both passionate and yet have a laugh about it. Im excited for the rest of the season and all the Polin scenes we’ll get. Great reaction, can’t wait for the rest soon.

You said this better than I have seen anyone else say it and I totally agree! I also loved that, while yes, they are obviously both very into what they are doing, the ultimate focus is on her. Her space (the carriage), her consent to allow him in, her ultimately being asked to accept him- his feelings for her. He is willing to back down when she says "we are friends", and she is the one to say, "but I would very like to be more," and then they meet in the middle for the initial kiss. I also love that when they elevate the intimacy, it is focused on her pleasure. He is on his knees in front of her, wanting her to feel good, something that we have not seen from these other fools this season while talking about how their conquest made them feel. And then, when they are so rudely interrupted by geography, he fixes her clothes and hair, so sweetly with his unused fingers. I also love the contrast between Pen and her sisters (bless them), when it comes to intimacy. Clearly none of these girls were prepared for that part of relationships or even taught the basics of how their own bodies work, but she seemed to understand what Colin was asking when he grabs her ankle and she definitely was not complaining about her hair.

Loved your reaction so much! As for your question as to why Debling cared if she had feelings for someone else, I think it’s because he doesn’t want his wife to “stray” while he’s gone for 3 years 😅 but moot point cause Colin locked that girl Down anyways 😂🎉
Agreed! Debling doesn’t want a wife who will cheat and possibly have a child with someone else. I’m really happy they made Debling a likable character and an “on paper” good match for Pen but he obviously isn’t right
I can understand it. But I find it to be so selfish. He’s basically looking for a Nun. I’m not sure even Cressida would be able to fill that role. It’s such a unique job posting. Just someone to run his estate. I mean, he could hire a house manager for that. If he’s gone for three years, when is he expected to produce an heir? It’s all strange to me and super one sided.
I totally agree. I liked Lord Debling, but I did feel like he was looking for a house sitter wife that he could have sex with when he wasn't exploring the world and saving animals. And while I understand he wanted someone to be faithful....let's face it....if he's gone that long, even if there isn't anyone else in the picture initially, there will be! 😂😂😂

Great reaction!!!! That carriage scene was peak Romantic content. It really says something about the actors and their chemistry when they are both fully clothed yet that scene was so intensely passionate.
I am so happy for Pen and Colin. But I’m also looking forward to the angst and drama that unfolds around the Lady Whistledown reveal. I’m of the mind Colin won’t really care that Pen is the gossip writer, he will be more concern for her safety and sadness if others found out and ridiculed her for it.
His protective nature is going to come in conflict with her desire to have a voice and a sense of control & power over her own life. Should be interesting to see how they grapple with that.
I really adore John and Francesca. I don’t think he’s odd at all. I think he is meeting her where she is. She lives in a lively household with 7 siblings, her mom and their staff. Him sitting with her in silence is the only time she gets a moments peace from all the chaos and he wants to give her that. It’s very sweet.
Who knew fully clothed carriage scenes could be so steamy, right? The power of good acting! I am excited to see more of Polin in the second half of the season. to see their Dynamic shift, but also to see how Pen handles Colin wanting to "take care" of here.
Francesca and John are growing on me as I have re-watched the first half of the season. I can appreciate her finding someone that speaks her love language.

Loved your reaction! I laughed out loud when you scooted closer to the TV during the carriage scene. Not gonna lie, that might be the hottest scene of the show so far and it didn’t even need to include nudity to accomplish that.
I loved the previous seasons, too, but there’s just something special about the friends to lovers trope done right. I love seeing these two characters who feel like they’re misfits in society falling for each other. It’s just nice to find people you completely vibe with, romantically or otherwise. Gives you such a fuzzy feeling of belonging and happiness ❤

Debling wanted someone to run his estate and not cheat while he's gone for 3 years. That's why Debling cared that Penelope had feelings for Colin. It's not a love match but, for women at the time, it would be a better alternative. I like that Debling didn't need to be a villain. They just weren't right.
I understand this completely. But maybe a wife isn’t what he needs just based on how long he is away from his estate. He needs a house manager. Someone on payroll. I’m assuming he’d want an heir. How does that happen if he never has time to be with his wife, you know?
@@JoiLouiseReacts Exactly - and if he does get Pen pregnant on the wedding night, and then heads off for his 3-year trek, she would be alone pregnant, alone with the delivery, and alone with the child. He needs an estate manager, not a wife, as you so correctly point out!!

I agree. Although some people are disliking certain elements of this season , I myself feel like this is my favorite relationship so far. I enjoyed season 1 and 2, but I've been wanting this for Penelope for so long. I'm so excited for the second part!
I'm also enjoying all the other stuff going on around Colin and Penelope, and I don't feel like it's overcrowded like I hear some people saying. The pacing is perfect for me.
I truly believe some people just need to go against the grain. This season is phenomenal. It doesn’t take away from the others but is just great on its own. It’s great how some people find competition EVERYWHERE. These characters are meant to be a release from every day life. And I find joy in each of them. But people are allowed to have their favorites. I think people expect an Oscar worthy performance out of everything and it’s laughable.
I would have loved to see more of Polin but the name of the series is Bridgerton and there are other characters that will carry the season along. We have to set them up for future seasons. It’s all a giant story of scandal, romance and drama. I live for all of it. But Polin has my heart. 🫶🏽🥰🤭✨
24:27 The ballroom dance scene 🎬 between Benedict & Lady Tilly Arnold is SUPER symbolic:
If you watch all the dancers carefully, Lady Arnold subtly forces Benedict to dance the FEMALE part… with the other female dancers.
In the camera scene from above, you suddenly realise that Lady Tilly Arnold is dancing the SAME dance moves as the other male dancers… symbolising Lady Arnold’s preference to dominate.
Which Benedict seems to REALLY be attracted to!!! 😂
He definitely is into the powerful women type. But his spirit of discernment needs work. Lady Arnold is definitely up to something and knows how to manipulate a man into doing what she wants. I can see it! 🤭

I have a theory about Colin’s wardrobe through out this season. Upon watching it back, he wears browns when he is being who he thinks he should be and black and blues when he is being his authentic self. Anyone else see that?

I loved this reaction so much! Yes I am so happy for Pen and for Colin here! He finally gathered the courage to say how he felt (boy really has no idea that she is in love with him, and has been in love with him since they met, bless him) and she finally said she wanted more than friends! The carriage scene was just so intimate, sexy (yes for Consent King Colin), and just lovely! I love when he nods before he gets out of the carriage like, mentally answering her question of “what are you doing?” With “I am making you my wife. Yes, Penelope is now my wife”. It just all plays out on his face. Pen has had a roller coaster of emotions that night, like her dreams went from 0 to 100!
It all happened so fast! Pen had whiplash! 🤣 I so loved this season. My reaction for episodes 5 & 6 will be dropping VERY soon! But when you sit down and think about it, we’ve seen Pen pine for Colin since season 1, it was about dog on time. 🤭
Agreed on best season yet. I'm so looking forward to them finding themselves together now. They've both been alone and masking as people they aren't, but they can be themselves with one another and I cannot wait!

Colin is OBSESSED with Pen, this is what we've been waiting for. Love Luke bringing the awkward comedy in ep 3, so perfect, Colin is RUINED. Ep 4 we got Chaos Colin in full form, even better, we got Colin Chaotic Proposals Only Bridgerton. That kiss they shared after the carriage stopped and they had that little giggle felt like them coming home to each other 🥹🥹 We're getting so close to part 2 and I'm so excited. Luke and Nicola said ep 4 is tame compared to ep 5, I'm not sure I'm ready, but I'm so ready. Your reaction to these episodes was exactly what I needed and I can't wait to watch your reaction to whatever happens in ep 5! Oh! Also, you mentioned that you got Romancing Mister Bridgerton to read after season three and I wanted to say, if you're still in the mood for regency romance after reading that and haven't already read Diana Quincy's books, I highly recommend those! I've been making my way through her backlist lately and they're sooo good!

This has been such a ROMANTIC season, not just for Pen but also for Colin and I am such a sucker for Romance! Their first first kiss was an awakening for Colin, but the mutual love on the first kiss in the carriage was ELECTRIC and so satisfying!

There is significant confusion about the location of the two houses. It is not a single street that separates them. There is a gazebo in the middle. The houses are located in Grosvenor Square. In fact, at the beginning in the first scene of the first episode of the first season you can see an aerial shot of the two houses and the space between them. Also, in the first episode of the third season, when Penelope watches the Bridgerton family meet Colin at the door of their house, she is watching from the gazebo behind some bushes.
So it would be about a city block apart from Featherington house?

1. She's been waiting since "Two days before her sixteenth birthday"
2. This was not his "declaration" yet... This is light work compared to that monologue 🥰💦🤭 Screw the burning and object of my desires. His is the best one. Simple, sincere... Calm, reassuring, friends-to-lovers gold! Luke is gonna eat that scene DOWN!
3. Reading the book with these two in mind is 10x better! You'll thoroughly enjoy Colin's thoughts. Show did him dirty in Season 1+2.

I also need more of these two Bridgertons just hanging out at home, talking. Reading Travel Blogs and chilling. I need more romantic Colin. No lust, just his 'You're a Goddess and I'm so lucky' moments.
Luke Newton was perfectly cast as Colin! I'll fight anybody on that. His facial expressions actually convey his inner thoughts from the book so well. His "Oh shit. I'm kissing her and I don't wanna stop kissing her now that I have" face. The man has an "I knew you had a crush on me but I hoped it was a phase so you could find somebody that would make you happy, but now that thought gives me anxiety cause I rather want to be worthy of you!" face! HOOOOOW?!

Omg! What an amazing comment! I picked up the “Romancing Mr. Bridgerton” book last weekend and plan to read it after the season concludes.
My commentary and reactions are unhinged. I often times either laugh or cringe when I am editing them. But I love the authenticity. I am being myself and so many of you resonate with that. It truly is the best of both worlds.
Penelope was indeed thinking Colin wanted her to sneak into Bridgerton house and finish what they started. But I so did not want that for her in the long run. More than likely if anyone saw her, it could have been another scandal. 🤭

I've watched so many creators reacting to this season over the past couple of weeks (and yours is definitely one of my favorites!), and I have to say I love that moment when Penelope tells the carriage driver they'll stop at Bridgerton house first - and how many people have had the same response "it's across the street" or "it's the same stop" 💀 It's a small line but I had the same thought and it cracks me up every time I rewatch.
Literally across the street! But I guess Pen wanted to emphasize her desire to not speak to him mixed with her desire to not entirely rush home.
We have known these two characters since season 1 and watched Pen painfully pine after Colin for years. This couple just hits differently and the love comes across as being so authentic and genuine.

I've been waiting for this, and it did not disappoint!! Your reactions are so real and relatable haha. I was laughing and screaming with you even though I've already watched pt 1 so many times. Loved your final thoughts because I feel the same! Many have said the pacing isn't good or that there isn't enough Polin, but I felt like it's been pretty well rounded so far. Ofcourse no show is perfect, but for a first go for the new showrunner, I think it's alot better than what we could have gotten otherwise.
Also, yes!! I fully agree that, despite Colin not having been in the trenches as long as Pen, I'm so happy for her to finally get the man she has always wanted. I think expecting her to not like him or to make him suffer any more than he already has would not fall in line with her character at all. We saw her try to battle btw a practical match and her own heart's desire for true love, and it's so clear she's a lover girl at heart. I'm glad part 1 addressed this half of their story, because now we can really get into the nitty gritty Lady Whistledown part of the story. I can't wait for the drama and to see how they both traverse that plotline and come out on the other end stronger than ever and more in love than ever, with all the walls down and their true selves open to each other.

I also loved how Colin savoured her hands running through his hair… how he paused & waited for clear consent… & how he even thought to assist putting her dress back on right, without needing to be asked.
ALL. OF. THIS! Colin treated Pen like a lady and that’s all I want for her. He wasn’t focused on anyone or anything else but her during this scene. And it all happened while they were both fully clothed. Expert acting, cinematography, choreography and writing. Truly well done!

I honestly would have loved to see Colin suffering a little longer, I felt like there were too many plot lines that took time from them. But it is what it is I guess.

I actually really like how they are humanizing Cressida and showing what her life is like. Yeah she was a bully but I feel like that's cause of the marriage mart and competitiveness to find a husband which is only amplified by her mother and father. But we see with Eloise she is capable of being a very good friend. When they were talking with other girls she looked quiet proud of Eloise, she keeps Eloise's secret about Colin and Pen, is trying to be supportive of Eloise with her ex friendship, wont stop seeing her just cause her father said so and was genuinely interested in hearing more about how Eloise thinks. It's notable too that in the country Cressida was the only person that was kind to Eloise after her scandal.
You have a valid point. But her crude behavior is why she has yet to find a husband. Too distracted by competing and is not being her authentic self. Or perhaps she knows no other way to be. I do not believe this is who Cressida is and it is why she is such a thorn in this story. Eloise may have found kindness in her, but it was (in my opinion) an upside for Cressida. To be linked to a Bridgerton isn’t a bad thing. But I just can’t get passed her being rude to EVERYONE especially Daphne in season one. I didn’t forget that. 🤭 But we shall not ostracize Miss Cowper just yet.

Listen I watched that carriage scene toooo many times. Your reaction to it was everything 😂😂😂 idk but this season thus far is my favorite. A lot of people have said Colin needed to earn it when it came to Pen I don’t think so personally because I feel like it part 2 that man will SHOW it. Part 1 was just the beginning. Also also I love their kissing in the carriage. It was sweet, sensual, romantic just all the feels. That’s how I wanted Kate and Anthony’s first kiss to be. Polin knocked it out of the park. As an avid fan of romancing mr. Bridgerton, I really hope you manage your expectations if you do read the book. Book Colin is not as amazing as Show Colin, he has a lot of pent up anger in the books and he can take out his frustrations at Pen. I love RMB and Book Colin so much but I am glad there are things about his character that they changed for the show. Polin as a couple in the books is one of the reasons why I love it so much though, they are truly the only couple in the series that I see as a team and if you do end up reading RMB, I hope you’ll love it as much as I do and will be able to forgive Book Colin for some of the things he does there.
Appreciate the heads up! I have felt some way about Colin even during the show, so I am sure I will be able to get through his antics in the book.
I truly want more of Penelope 🤭 if I’m being honest. I want to experience him fawning over her in text. 🤣 It is probably so satisfying.
