They didn't release ALL of the details. They didn't actually release anything new at all. The old Model 3 Performance had more than 500 HP. Tesla just never admitted it.
Mine is registered with 535 hp in Sweden.
My guess is that there will be a M3P with pricing that will qualify for federal tax credits, and ludicrous version that will be more expensive.

500hp makes no sense. You had previously said over 600? If the rear motor is over 400 and the front is 200, then why do they say only 500? SMH!!
Think about it… they release at 55k to qualify for tax credit but they only give you 500hp. They then charge an extra 2-4k for an acceleration boost to 613hp. Easy

It also depends what power output the batteries can sustain. It might be Tesla are going similar to the Tycan - power X BHP in launch mode for 10 secs or whatever

I thought the documentation on the M3L showed the combined two motors would produce 618hp? Im sure you've seen the new Hyundai Ionic 6 with 660hp? I would have expected Tesla to at least match or exceed the competition. Maybe not.
I think this is why Tesla indicates it as “more than 500hp”

Hey bro, I was searching tesla source code, in south america and found a optional performance upgrade package for ludicrous model 3. Looks like we will have a stealth ludicrous great for people who don't need bigger wheels :)
Update na source code quotes sports package. This is more likely the insane car, with smaller wheels. And track mode package performance upgrade is the ludicrous car, I found quotes of 2.6 0-60. So that leak video we saw was probably a prototype car running old firmware why it said insane instead of ludicrous

Hey guys, if Elon wasn't so busy, he'd probably be rofl at all the speculation of when the announcement actually is going to happen! Tuesday's earnings call is going to be a mess due to timeline changes with Model 2. M3L (a.k.a. reengineered M3P) probably won't be announced until May :(

That would another mind blow if it happens, but it would definitely complication the production line if they have to offer 2 different drive trains. We’ll see
