He did have his own paint brush and paint supply company most of the paints he listed and used in the episodes were from his company. Boss Ross also taught painting lessons for a price, providing the paints and brushes from his company, at craft shows when his show was starting to take off.
In the mid-late 80's my mother won a place in one of his painting lessons from a ceramics piece she painted for a craft show to promote her store, and she still has the painting she did in the class. you would be surprised how often that happens in art. It's a bit like taking a couple of run-up steps before jumping across a gap. You carefully measure the smallest possible mark you can make, and once the seal has been broken, and you're committed to the decision, you can widen it and detail it until it looks like it was always meant to be. It works in painting, it works in writing, it works in engineering. Baby steps often lead to some beautifully marvellous manoeuvres, and, like the other fellow said, being unafraid to make mistakes to see where they lead. The trick is that you have to be patient, and thoughtful, and VERY careful, like you're handling delicate glass, because the first step is so crucial to the mistake being something you can turn into a master manoeuvre. It also works in interpersonal diplomacy/therapy; the most delicate broaching of a sensitive topic can prepare a person to receive firmer, potentially harsher advice.
I think it's because the universe appreciates when we treat things with respect and care, and rewards it with grace.

When I first saw Mr Abdul Aziz Rind, I thought what a wonderful expressive face he had, he looked so full of wisdom. Then he spoke, and his words were just as wonderful as his face was, especially his remark about Bob Ross remaining immortal through his work. Respect to you, sir.

Bob Ross actually never meant for those Paintings to be in an Art Gallery. They are Teaching EXAMPLES. He wanted to teach you how to do this. HOWEVER The Smithsonian's American History Museum recently added two of paintings, his easel, palette, brushes, and other “Joy of Painting”-related materials to its collection.

Yeah the Bob Ross Society only let's a few paintings a year out for showing.... The list is long and most get denied... The majority of Bob's paintings are in a nondescript office in some small town not on display buy in storage.... It isn't open to the public at all..
