They are rooted in the same place :) Saudade, sevdah is an emotional continuum that has regional varieties (just like different dialects or languages of the same linguistic family) It is all over Mediterranean countries and even goes deeper into the continent.

The acoustics in that room add a whole extra layer - lots of reverb from all those hard surfaces. You can see how much the singers are feeling lifted by the richness of it. Beautiful.

@Maro, na Eurovisao imagino o início da música tal como a apresentas, na sua versão original. Depois entra o acústico, com as guitarras, com uma imagem envolvente por detrás do outro ensaio ao ar livre que fizeram( já que não podem ser mais do que 6 pessoas, ficando um ambiente mais intimista. Ou imagens do Portugal que sente saudade, de despedidas e de encontros, de sentimentos e de Vida..é ao que a música transporta.

This song touches a very sensitive spot in me. I cried every time I listened to it and it was both nostalgic and ecstatic - saudade , right? It refills my whole being and is gracefully relieving at the same time. I feel my shoulders getting warm, like a hug from a loved one - maybe from someone who’s not in this physical world anymore?

this video is the kind that you go back to in 15 years. the vibe! rita’s lil babey sleeping soundly in a church filled with angels, that lil look the girls give judit when the second verse starts, the quiet clapping section and silvia smiling at maro like a proud sister, looking over at the guitarists and realizing that they sing along in some parts, the choir’s soft and gentle faces while singing that help me better understand what ‘saudade’ really is as a non-portuguese speaker, the acoustics, the harmonies that headbutt your gut !! i truly fell in love (and fell hard) today. thank you, maro.
