  • Today, I take another nostalic and historic memory lane road trip. In this episode, I visit the famous gravesite of actor GAVIN MACLEOD who starred in the TV show THE LOVE BOAT. MacLeod is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park and cemetery, in Cathedral City, California.
I also remembe actress BETTY WHITE who unexpectedly died yesterday, New Year's Eve, December 31, 2021, just 17 days shy of her 100th birthday.
Gavin MacLeod, Betty White, Ed Asner and Cloris Leachman all died in 2021 and all were in their 90s, so this video is a fond farewell to all of them.
Thanks for joining me on my travels on yet another trip to the past, and for sharing the memories.

Sad that so many from that show passed in 2021. They all had great careers and lived long lives.

Steve, congratulations on another great video. As a long time subscriber, I can honestly say that your meticulous research and hard work is paying off with seemingly better posts each and every time. Thank you, and I wish you a happy and prosperous 2022.
The passing of my favorite actress and personality Betty White yesterday marked a sad day where the world now seems a bit darker and a bit less happy of a place. I guess it took God 99 years to make a castle befitting Betty White. Do you know if she will be laid to rest in Wisconsin next to Allen Ludden?
Now, sadly, the entire ensemble of Moore,
Asner, Knight, MacLeod, Harper, White, Leachman and Engel are all at rest. Only John Amos, who was only with the cast for a couple of years, survives, so hopefully we can show him the love and adulation we feel for the others in what was probably the greatest tv show cast ever assembled.
I wish for you, your family, your viewers and friends that 2022 is the best year ever. Keep 'em coming, great job.

The first time I saw Gavin Macleod was when he played Big Chicken on Hawaii 50 in the 70’s. I remember thinking what a good actor he was and and how much I respected the producers of Hawaii 50 for finding such good actors to help move their show forward. I loved Murray on The Mary Tyler Moore Show as well as Captain Stubing on The Love Boat and I was so sad to hear of his passing. Betty White was everyone’s mom. I’m 72, and she could have been my mom! I think every baby boomer feels the same. The world is less fun without our beloved Betty riding along with us. Thank you for your channel, and for catching yourself and realizing that you could update your material, after filming, and bring these two losses together to complete your story. What a good producer you are.

One of the not so great things about growing older is watching friends, family, and icons of childhood pass on. I sometimes think that my love of cemeteries, graveyards, and end of life customs (yes, I am a taphophile!l) is partly a way for me to focus on living the best life I can before I go to join them. We could all learn a lot about living from the way Betty White lived! I can only hope to leave this life like she did, loved and admired for what she contributed to our world. Happy new year, Steve and Jim! May it be a year of great adventure and fun for both of you.

Holy crap you blew me away with this one, I thought he passed years ago, he was a gifted actor, go back and watch him when he was in a couple of episodes of Hawaii five 0, he had an on and off role as a drug dealer getting people hooked, he really made a scary mean man dealing drugs and he showed no mercy. Yes Betty white just passed a few days ago. She is home, they both are home and in the lords hands they are both 👌 wow you stunned me with Mr. McCloud. He really did a great job on many roles but check back on the Hawaii five 0 he really pulled that role off. I used to live in Hawaii and met him walking down the street and flew back to the mainland with him

My dad told me she died and thought he was playing a stupid joke (he does this). He then said no joke. I was so sad, she is such an icon for so many and for me her involvement in animal rights and being childfree (as I am) made her so loved in so many crowds. I was so sad she just missed 100, even after so many books went to press. Gavin MacLeod I loved on the Love Boat (MTM was a bit before my time) and he was such an amazing actor.

Pretty memorial! Gavin Macleod was such a tremendous actor. Interesting you should mention not being able to add photos. I wanted to upload a photo of Alvy Moore while he was on location in Yosemite filming a Death Valley Days that my Mom had taken but it wouldn’t allow me to do so. Too bad because it’s a great photo of him, I remember him being a total sweetheart.
Rest in peace all those beautiful people who we lost this year, so sad we are losing the best of the best ❤️

The FindAGrave administrators have to be contacted directly to get their approval on any new additions to a famous memorial and they'll then handle it if OKd.

I really liked Gavin. He was a very good actor. I loved McHale Navy. I loved everything he was in.
I cried like a baby when my Granddaughter came in and told me that Betty White had died. We will all miss her. There was just no one like her. I can't think of anything that I didn't love that she did. She is now back with her beloved husband.
Steve thank you so much for this video. I know that it had to be more work to redo this. I so appreciate the hard work that you do to provide these videos for us. God bless you and your partner, praying that this will be a wonderfully blessed, healthy and prosperous year for you both.

Yes, we lost Sue Ann, Lou, Murray, and Phyllis, ( MTM characters). this past year. And you and I both lost our Dear Mothers, in 2021, also. It’s been a rough year for the loss of so many. Gavin in MTM, and his part in the Movie, (Moriority) Kelly’s Heroes, are the most memorable for me. Gavin played a mean criminal in parts, on the original Perry Mason. He was great at all roles. Thank You, Steve. I hope we all have peace, ✨🕊✨ in 2022.

I'm glad you mentioned Gavin MacLeod being on McHale's Navy, that was my favorite of his roles! I wonder why Find A Grave insists he was cremated and had no grave to visit when obviously that's not true? Yes, Ed Asner was buried in a family plot in Kansas City, MO, his hometown. Though I know it will probably be a difficult one for you to visit since it's across the country, Mary Tyler Moore herself is buried in Fairfield, Connecticut. I suspect that Betty White will likely be laid to rest next to her husband Allen Ludden at Graceland Cemetery in Mineral Point, Wisconsin. She said he was the love of her life and she never remarried after his death in 1981.

    Excellent video Steve. FYI:
Before Gavin was famous, he played a rather nasty, overweight convict on an episode of the original "Hawaii 5 O". So sad so many from the MTM show have passed, especially wonderful Betty White. The only consullation is knowing she is now with her family and beloved husband, Alan Ludden. Rest in peace Betty.
