Thanks folks 😊 - Zábava
And he says he's in a rut. Sure, pal, sure. That's a lovely rut.
Haha😂 I'd love to have this rut Paul ...! Paul is the type guy he has a single family house with a two car garage and he's homeless by his standards 😂
It seems that the ones in a rut are the Red Deers 😁 Good for us!
This dude is beyond WOW! And says he’s a driving instructor! Time to tour sir!
So glad that you have come out of your rut Paul but sad to hear the Red Dear have entered a group rut.😕 Have a great relaxing trip in the home of my ancestors.
Roy Buchan plays crazy lovely job Paul
Great performance. Great arrangement.
A week and a half well spent Sir. Thank you for this beautiful little ditty.
Wonderful!
When you kicked in with the Tele, I got one of those Autonomous sensory meridian response chills. 😊
Very beautiful melody and guitar work
Thank you kimklinke 👍
Wow quite a number. Dude is a jazzer
Well… that was truly wonderful!
great lesson paul as per
Beautiful!
Sounds awesome, I’m glad you uploaded this, it’s very inspirational.
Highlands sounds fab! Shoot some footage..... keep safe mate, come back soon.
Splendid guitar playing , and great emotion and dynamics on the opening rendition of crazy
Thank you Paul, for another great video. Best wishes and good health to you and your family from Glasgow
Rut ...hell no ,amazing Paul, I AM JELLY!!!
Jest w twoim wykonaniu magia, kocham to muszę słuchać więcej i więcej
Glad you are back. Great playing!
Wow!!! Such a beautiful arrangement of that song!
I like working out songs like this as well ... BTW: I pretty well cut my teeth on my brother's new 1960 Jazzmaster through his '60 PRO ... Fine job on this, Mr. Paul.
Sounds like a perfect vacation. As always you are an inspiration.
Jesus wept! What a guitar player 👌
Well thank you safficus, I appreciate that!
What a song and the way you play does it great justice, thank you friend.
Fantastic playing Paul and a great lesson. Double nice one!
Beautiful Sir!
I enjoyed the intro very much. Great playing. Thank You!
That is crazy, crazy good, actually great! Loved it, Patsy would be proud!
Awesome paul ouch that one stretch hurts me all the way here in the USA in Ohio.
Brilliant Paul! Have a great camping journey!
Heard a very similar arrangement once and been looking all over youtube for it. This is even better and gave me chills, when I realized the title wasn’t clickbait but very literal. Such inspiring guitar playing! GREAT stuff, Paul! 👏
Roy Buchanan ?
That guitar Paul! Cheezus! So beautiful.
Love your work Paul. I am well on my way to adding a thousand views on this video alone. Lol. Thanks for sharing.
I love watching you play. Pure joy and your tone is smooth!! Thanks for sharing your gift.
Thank you so much, I appreciate that. 🍻
Oh yes…Great fun! Thanks for this mate!
This is so beautiful 🥺
Hey Paul as you know I'm 77 with DAMN Arthur ITIS. When my hands and body are invaded with it I have to play open tuning slide..... oh well . thanx for the lesson.... That's my next learnin ;O) Love it.
Classy Paul, gonna have to learn this!!
that's fucking beautiful, man!
Man nice rendition of a great tune. Have a great trip in your new car. We just got back yesterday from there. Edinburgh was cool but the Inverness area was fantastic , can't wait to go back. Cheers!
Beautiful cover Paul. Have a great time away my man!
Goodbye rut - I can see you in rearview mirror as I head to the highlands in my Suzuki! Very tasty on the new guitar, Paul and the Lindt too. I like the chili pepper infused Lindt...Best - Neil G.
Thanks Neil! Cheers 🍻
I love JBs playing too. He does what I call "plays with fire". The way he stings the notes... and knows all the cool rubs. And he always seems to get me to pick up the guitar and man-handle it. haha.
Brilliant...I love that..seems like the rut has been temporarily suspended,If I ever get stuck, which is often I always go back to a great old song.....and man that Tele is freakin awesome...thanks.
You're a spectacular guitar player. Feel and touch for days. ....tone is always a delight. Wonderful Paul.
Many thanks David 🍻
Hi Paul ! Greetings from Akron , Ohio USA ! I just caught this video and I have to tell what a beautiful rendition of a classic Willy song you have performed ! This time I was touched by your phrasing and choice of notes . My hat is off to you my friend , best version of " Crazy " I have ever had the pleasure of listening to .
Thank you so much Kenny! 🍻
Well Paul....that's the craziest thing I've ever heard you play.haa cool ..holiday b safe ...you are needed.
Paul, it sounds to me like you're out of your rut. Man, do you have TOUCH! This was such a beautiful arrangement to an American classic!
Shades of Danny Gatton from your Tele Paul... masterful!
Sounds a lot like Chopins nocturne, amazing!
The legend 👍👍👍🎸🎸🙏🎸🙏🎸🙏🎸🎸🌹🌹
Love that this tune started life as "Stupid", according to the Redheaded Stranger, himself. Fantastic playing, as always. Enjoy your upcoming rip around the back 40.
Man i love Paul SC lessons 🌟🎸 hey dude dont sweat the hand issue too much, bout 10 yrs ago i had v similar issue, i did what you say play through it, 10 yrs later ive got no issues 👍
I saw this video just a few hours after it was posted. Quite brilliant Mr Stafford-Cook. I personally will never be able to master a fretboard like this. You really know what you're doing mate.
Thank you Paul! Appreciated. 🍻
Hey Paul, sounds like the mojo is back with a vengeance :) That Tele's tone is to die for, under your usual tasteful guidance. Lovely
🔝 grazie Paul bellissimo video!!!
Thank you Marco 🍻
Does not sound as a rut to me! Superb playing there ❤❤ great choice of music the gold is in the old music, more musical in many senses ❤
Speaking of arthritis... I have real thumb arthritis in my fretting hand ('CMC') and I found that playing the guitar actually helped. And I said the same as you (fuck it) and played through it. Have a fun time out in the woods.
Thanks man 🍻
feck me, had a lump in ma throat when you came in with the Buchannan twist , you've such a special touch. make sure the tent's zipped up with all those horney stags running aound :)
great video mate, thanks for posting
Sounds awesome.
My arthritis goes away when the weather gets warm.
Great stuff Paul , very inventive . That does not sound like a guy who's in a rut! Knew you'd get your mojo back .
Thanks cannavan 👍
Greetings from Austin TX. Cool stuff! Great tone. I can hear the Roy Buchanan influence. Can you imagine Willie sitting around working on writing and this song pops out?
If Tom is Uncle Larry, then surely Paul should be (something like) Uncle Barry. Beautiful intro playing btw ;)
Sounds fantastic!!! Hope you are truly pleased with this piece... you really should be. Maybe give DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide) a try on that finger if it keeps bugging you.
Lovely playing Paul, great guitars, great sound. I hope you loose the fug soon!
I see what you did there!!!
Sounds great, Danny Gatton vibe on the tele.
Nice wee bit of Patsy Stafford Cook 🤭
I think your rut's over. Crazy is such a great song! You're killing it!That Jazz master is super sweet, I get it now. But that tele...Damn! Haven't heard from Jr. lately. Enjoy your trip
Thanks man. Yes, I think the Junior is getting jealous…..
that was CRAZY
I see what you did there 😉
Lovely singing with the chords. It helps I think 😊. Man, I’d love to do some wild hiking in Scotland. Maybe one day. 🥰
Thanks Nick. Yeah, I can certainly recommend it. Although it’s s bit midge infested between July and September 🤣
Just to good Paul.Would love to hear you play with Martin Taylor.
Hi Paul … yeah I’m a big fan of Martin Taylor ,you’re style of playing would go really well together with his. All the best .
😁👍
now there... that's what I was talking about last time... all of the sudden some old stuff comes along with some new ideas... and that's probably just tendinitis...
That is one of the most desperate love songs ever written. I love the Willie Nelson / Sheryl Crow Live Version. Thanks for your lesson, Paul. Ever thought about taking some Vocal Lessons ? Serious question. I did, and it helped me a lot to find a voice to sing. If this doesn't help , it surely helps keeping away the wild animals from your tent in the woods. ;-)
And the Mojo returns? Sounds like it. A splendid choice of tune. The combination of the Jazzmaster on the looper and the Tele was magic. Who needs multitracks or DAWs?
Your trip away sounds lovely (bugger the camping though, my back wont take it any more). Also congrats on the new motor, I approve muchly.
Thanks Peter. Yeah, if the the forecast is rain then I might do a hotel on the first night….. we’ll see. Cheers, enjoy your Sunday 😊
Exquisite opening track, and I just love the sound of that guitar! This may sound a bit 'new agey' but a couple of years ago John McLaughlin struck a patch where it looked like he had arthritis (or something similar) and I remember him mentioning briefly in a video that he sort of 'meditated' on his hand and maybe talked to it or at least consciously engaged with it? Given that he's just come off a major tour with Shakti and is back out there with another combo I guess it may have helped 😃Enjoy the break, well earned I reckon.
Thanks for that info Morton regarding John McLaughlin. That makes me feel a bit better. Cheers man 🍻
Patsy 9's? Great playing.
Great video, sounds like you're leaving the rut to the red deer😄 On the health front, if you suspect arthritis can I suggest you try Glucosamine Sulphate, if you're not doing so already.......I've had it for years in my thumbs, got it badly in finger of fretting hand about ten years ago and had to give up playing, even gave my beloved handmade Andy Manson acoustic to my son😥 Started upping the dose of glucosamine, long story short, hands now fine most of the time and play guitar a lot again ( thanks to retirement from crazy pupils!), unfortunately my son is hanging on to the Manson 😏 Good luck
Thanks Mike, I’ll look in to your suggestion 👍🍻
Sooners win the red river rivalry, then Abby the spoon lady and her band of miscreants and now this!!?! Oh heaven what have I done to deserve this!? What a great Saturday!
Well enjoy your evening William! Cheers mate 🍻
@@paulstaffordcook8799 cheers sir!
Awesome and brilliant Paul. I suffer from osteoarthritis and guitar playing is by far the best medicine for it 🤘
This is some amazing stuff, mate!
My classical teacher drummed using the thumb out of me as a kid, so now it's very counterintuitive to try to use it.
He'd literally grab my wrist and reif it back so my thumb was in the center of the neck, sometimes painfully.
He was a weird guy.
Shaggin Red Deer Blues! Glad you're back and doing this czcams.com/video/oYMC8hjCZys/video.html for us again. Have fun. Very jealous of your next trip. Hope you get the weather.
Well if I ever record an album, that’s definitely got to be the title 🤣
Even the cold showers?! WOW! You really know it well. And it doesn't surprise me at all 😉 Glad for you! So it seems you wouldn't forget to stretch before playing these beauties. But one advice (of few 😁) I still have to give you (and continuing with the good conscience of health) find yourself a good Wintergreen essential oil (with all of that quality certifications, "organic" and stuff). One drop and you'll feel immediately a difference (for better). Oh and as for the bones, don't forget to check your blood too. Also measure your vitamin D's levels (as for the rut 😉). Stay well, dear Paul.
It seems you'll really be visiting the most beautiful of landscapes in isolation with Mother Nature. Nice! How cool it would be if we could see you playing guitar on some scenic places? 😉 Well, just enjoy your retreat and, at least, send us some postcards 😊
Thanks man, you’ve got me intrigued as regards the Wintergreen oil, so I’m now doing some research on it. Cheers for that info 👍
@@paulstaffordcook8799 good! It's the best! (bitch oil is also amazing but much more expensive and rare) Recently I had my wrists hurting. It was also weird. I never complained about it, but since I've been cycling a lot I thought it could be the reason... or carpal tunnel syndrome. Didn't waste more time. One drop of Wintergreen and after a few days is gone. If also happens to you waking-up with your neck hurting... you already know the drill. One drop... massage (might be better to dilute in a base oil - coconut or whatever you want)... go deep until it is gone 😉
Hey Paul, once again you have stolen my heart with you beautiful rendition of “Crazy”. I would love to hear you play and explain “Cry Me a River” by Julie London… I think that’s her name. Anyway, just wondering if you have any interest in that song?? Either way you inspire me to grab my guitar every time!
Hi Harold. I’ve just listened to Julie London’s version….. Yeah, I love it. Ok, I’m gonna mess around with that to see if anything comes. Thanks man, appreciated 👍
@@paulstaffordcook8799 hey Paul, that would be wonderful!! I’ve always wanted to learn it. I’ve tinkered with it a time or two but never solidified a version that I was comfortable with. I’m not a jazz player at all but that song has always grabbed me. I look forward to hear what you do with it. I’m certain you will do something incredible… you always do. Thank you Paul!!
Harold
Well Harold, I tinkered with Julie London’s Cry Me a River…. and guess what - that’s gonna be the musical piece on my next vid! Do thank you Harold, I really appreciate the suggestion 👍
Your Glasgow pop singer sounds like Ethel Merman.😂
Actually your pitch is pretty good, just need a bit of tuning practice and you'll be fine.😉
Nice Patsy Cline tune and everyone else who sang it.
A simple song with lots of room for embellishments.👌
Enjoy your holiday and your wine.🥂
Perhaps grab a pint just to ruffle some feathers while you're at it.🍻🤙
bravo my man! Roy would be proud
Well ... my favourite version of this song *used* to be Linda Ronstadt's. Now? Not sure.......!! :))
(P.s. and give us a wee wave as you go past Jct 4, if you're heading north on the M90!) ;-)
Will do erajad 👋
Is that your favourite guitar now bud ?🎸☺️👍
I think it might be….
Hello. I thought I might have something useful to say on the subject of your sore finger. It looked as though you were pointing at the joint immediately above the palm of your fretting hand. A while ago I too had recurrent pain in the lowermost joint of a finger on my fretting hand. I finally put two and two together and realized that I was string-bending with my fingers somewhat apart rather than together as one unit using the door-handle motion. One I disciplined myself into proper bending technique, the pain subsided and has not returned.
I'm a new viewer, so I haven't observed your technique at all (and don't wish to suggest that your technique is anything south of flawless), but I hope this might help you. Cheers!
Thank you man, very observant. Yes, that’s the exact joint that hurts. Cheers for your suggestion, 🍻
Paul, do you have flat wound strings on the JazzMaster?
Yes. To me the flats and the Jazzmaster are a marriage made in heaven (gauge 12, and tuned down 1 tone).
@@paulstaffordcook8799 thank you Paul!
Seriously your ego dude lol
Yes, we’ve all got one.
😮
@paulstaffordcook8799 - Arthritis nearly put my guitar playing to a stop a few years ago. I wouldn't last 5 minutes and I would then pay for it in the next few days. I found that playing nylon string guitars served me as physio and now I can play guitar just normal (with a minor loss of flexibility in the affected fingers). I occasionally get a bit of pain here and there. But it is manageable. So... if it hits you bad... try the nylon string thing. May work...
Beautiful!
