Yes the reference for me is simply a reference. I like to see where I can take it. Painting a likeness has it's place and own challenges as well.

I paint with acrylics.
I am a digital artist, I would like to paint bold color style. One of issues, is "how do u select the colors for a given portrait"?
Well that's a big and ongoing question and the number one reason I teach online.
Does your palette ever dry up and you end up wasting all the served paint?
No, I usually manage to use it all up!

I just sent a comment to a you tube video of Alex from "The Dursn" suggesting that instead of putting up cheap posters of Cambells soup and the like that he should support struggling real artists instead who would even hang the paintings with daily changes. I suggested 'Struggeling-Artists dot com" for the exhibition as a title. Then I thought I should at least Google the term! Hence, I found you! 10% of money from Tuber sales ? OK. It's a struggle ...5% after the first $10k ....from Joss, Cork, Irelsnd.
