Matthews had one of the best rookie goal-scoring campaigns in league history and he was a huge reason why the Maple Leafs made their first postseason appearance since 2013. i love how hes so big and crashes the net hard but almost never runs into the goalie. also, in his first nhl game, on his hat trick goal, his first reaction was to point to rielly for the nice pass. team player and great leadership.

Kid is incredible. Complete package, he's big, he plays centre, he's fast, strong, amazing hands. I've never seen someone with a more dominant net presence, that wins so many battles for loose pucks infront of the opposing team's net. Amazing wrist shot on top of that too.
He's going to be a top 5 player in the league, for a long time.
Eric Lindros used to be like this. But this kid has a superior "ice awareness", and poise.
As an 18-19 year old, what surprises me most about his game is his work ethic to get back and help defensively. Great player, whom if he can stay healthy, will no doubt go down as a legend, possibly America's best ever NHL'er

that one-handed flat backhand redirect goal is still one of the nastiest things i’ve seen in 22 years watching hockey all over Mid and Eastern Canada.
This guy has a really cool style of play. I see a lot of Nik Antropov, Tomas Sandstrom, Evgeni Malkin, Gaborik...and that wrist shot!!! Damn!!! That's top notch stuff!

Nylander is an absolute gem. Same with his brother Alex. They are both able to do the same shit with the puck at alarming speed. It's really quite something to watch in slo-mo. Thank god for #29 and #34, absolute beauts

Don't be so sure that McDavid won't be second to him. Players' games evolve over the course of a career. Lots of factors go into runs of success, and upswings/downswings, and consistency.
