This is Goodbye to Another Great Anime Made by Passionate Animators Despite Production Issues

- After months of production delays and issues... 86 Eighty-Six Season 1 finally got the conclusion it deserved with Episode 23. This may be goodbye for the anime series permanently because of the production issues, but there's still hope with the Anniversary Event taking place in April next month. Still the amount of passion, dedication, and effort to get this series off the ground is mind boggling to me. I'm just happy that Lena and Shin were able to meet up at the end. Guess this is goodbye for now if we get a Season 2.

Its been a very long journey for this entire anime..... After all the delays, it finally comes to an end. I do hope we get a Season 2 at the Anniversary Event
I actually hope they turn the next arc into a movie , it takes place in san magnolia and could add so much more too the source material if they want, its a thrilling tale with an excelent cliff hanger that would set up vol 5 and 6 for season 2!
You should read the LN of this series too its so good
Have you noticed when near the end, the holding-hand scene shaped like the number 8 and 6?
I guess NOW I can start watching it... I've come to a point when I only start watching series if I know they have some sort of closure. That said, I'm still waiting for No Game No Life season 2 :'(
@@aarongallardo3684 lol true just checked it out
Despite how big and celebrated Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan may be, I truly do believe that this first season of 86 is, and will down down as, one of the best adaptions from any form of media that we'll ever see. The amount of sheer love and passion that the animators, directors, voice actors, and even the Light Novel author herself, is just so striking that it's almost hypnotizing. Arcane may have took the top spot as the crown of new 2021 shows, but I think 86 is without a doubt, on the same scale of quality.
It's been a wonderful ride for us all, for both Light Novel readers, to new fans. The journey to the end may have been long, sometimes even painful for both us the audience, and the many people pouring their entire hearts and bodies into the production, but it has been all the more worth it. Thank you A1, thank you 86.
Honestly... I couldn't agree more
All 3 are great adaptations, case closed
All three are great. No need to compare
86 was good but saying its one of the best adaptations from ANY form of media is crazy
I don't think I've ever watched a better anime adaptation from anything that I read the source material of beforehand. And I already like the ln quite a lot.
"A1 is like the Dreamworks of anime studios, a lot of time they don't try very hard, but when they do they put the fucking banger"
- Schaffrillas Productions
wait did schaffrillas actually say that???
@@soggy_auggy7191 in the kaguya review, yes
What a true quote! I definitely agree with that.
86 was one of the best anime of 2021 period 💯💯🙏
Hands down
Let me correct that for you: *86 IS one of the best anime. Period.
Its very good but stop the cap , it doesn't beat mushoku tensei or ousama ranking
@@kingdoom5022 your opinion. 86>>>>>mushoku/ousama
@@kingdoom5022 lol yeah i haven't watched rankings of kings but mushoku tensei was def a top anime of the year. But when 86 was airing the same day as mushoku the episode quality between both shows were neck and neck being amazing.
I hope the staff takes a break before animating the next season, they deserved if after all the work they've done, and props to the director who made this anime a masterpiece, and also to the author who helped direct the anime.
Sadly, they'll just probably be given another anime to animate considering standards in the anime industry.
@Matrixio shit you're right
Series can comeback in a few years even hey look at Star Wars Mando that took 2 years and a half for season 3 and who knows If that can get delayed again
86 is a masterpiece, plain and simple.
As a light novel reader of this series I can for sure say the studio gave 86 an incredible amount of love and affection and each episode delivered was great. The wait for the last 2 episodes as hurtful as it was was worth the wait. I hope we get a S2 announcement soon because what's next to come matches and goes beyond the already high bar set by S1. See you all in the next season, and FUCKIN GLORY TO THE SPEARHEAD SQUADRON!
Wait….THEY CAN TOP THIS SEASON?
@@deadlineuniverse3189 I mean there are lots of great anime that never get another season or some years to do so. So let's hope Eighty Six S2 comes out within a year or so 🤞🏼
It depends on you.i dont really like the next arc(volume 4) but volume 5,6 is one of my favourite
@@reneaparicio9058 one of them went 7 years and got a new season
I wish that
1. Animators, Staff should and deserve a long break after their hardwork
2. read number 1
3. season 2
It has been 48 weeks and 6 days since the first episode release, hence 4 8 6 or "FOR 86". Hands-up to the sky and let's hope for a new season announcement soon!
Reading the light novel at volume 3, they added so much extra details in the anime.
1. the Eugene scene was absolutely genius! In the novel it described that Nina, Eugene's lil sister remembers Eugene smiling together with Shin for once, it was something she thought of.
But in the anime you cant put it word for word, so you know what they did. They added a whole fking photo to describe it! So artistically well expressed.
2. The Fido camera scenes were absolutely so extra they did not need to add, I love it!
3. The reunion, oh man the reunion just hits way harder when they animated it with the perfect soundtrack, voices and color palette. I friking cried at this sht even if I read the light novel.
I so would love to have this director continue with season 3 if ever it happens. He knows damn well how to enhance an adaptation to its fullest potential with the resources they have. I love this anime so much.
86 is a work of art and a masterpiece
Please let me know if Frederica is a garbage stereotrope in the LN as she is in the anime.
@@mathisblair2798 Frederica has a reason for being who she is
This series is an absolute masterpiece. 10/10. Literally one of the best animes ever and i can't even count how many times this series had made me breakdown, tear up, or get so emotional. The animation, cinematography, feels, the beautiful moments in conversations with the characters, and seeing everything come full circle with lena seeing the original 86 squad was awesome. I'm definitely going to miss this series so much. Honestly watching series like this makes me appreciate life so much because it allows you to enjoy a ride of amazing emotions. I set a wallpaper on my phone so that I'd never forget just like how lena did to not forget the original 86 squad. I absolutely love this series so much and this will forever stay close to my heart. The ending couldn't have been anymore perfect. I can wait as long as i need to for a second season if we get one.
The show is very well received and highly rated in my opinion 86 is a masterpiece and really deserves a second season I mean if classroom of the elite is finally getting a second season then there is definitely hope for 86
Yes but hopefully we get a s2 announcement soon and dont have to wait like 5 years for it
All the cinematography, motifs, insert music choices, homages, and overall emotional payoff was at the upmost peak during the last 2 episodes, and I'm so glad that it was. I don't even know how, but the studio managed to not just meet the already immensely high standard they set previously, but set a new one as well.
I was absolutely _furious_ when the credits started rolling and no meetup was in sight... then I scrolled down and saw 4 mins left to go, and then I knew all was going to be right with this world. 😌
bruh, I was the same, like "HOW DARE THEY"
You should've seen me last week. I was blue balled when shin and Lena didn't meet. It was annoying.
Omg, I just finished the last episode and I was in the same boat I had both my hands up to my face and was like come on… come oooonnn. I was very satisfied
I think the unique thing about 86 that they often put the credit and ed song in the middle of the episodes. Dunno if it's really that common in other anime too.
I was about to like this comment but then saw it had 86 likes, so no
I think as an anime only of this series,
In my 10 years of watching anime ( I've watched since i was 8)
I think this was honestly one of the best animes I've ever watched an hands down it deserves it's credit.
I've would never regret stumbling across this anime and never regretted it since.
Who'd have thought a mech anime would be the year's biggest tearjerker.
Joke's on you, it was a character drama and romance hidden inside!
as someone who's been watching anime for the best part of 15 years, i can confidently say this is one of the best animes i have ever seen, there are so many things 86 does where i think i have not seen another anime do this particular thing this well. it's unfortunate that people won't appreciate just how good this is
The ending was amazing, can't wait for season 2
I'm literally finishing the episode and I'm bawling my eyes out, this anime is so goddamn special, taking your recommendation on this was the best choice i could have made
It's so rare to see a studio sticking to their guns on adapting a work to the standard it deserves, 86 deserves so much love and respect
86 was so fricken good.... SO FRICKEN GOOOD....
SOOOOOOO FRICKEEEEENNN GOOOOOOD
I would love if we get a season two but if it doesn't happen this is a great way for the anime to go out.
the whole reunion was straight gold is it was but the sound track just made everything so perfectly perfect i couldnt ask for more. the fido pov also was such a good way to show
the scene i loved every part of it. i wish i could forget it all and watch at again and again with no regrets. truly a masterpiece!
Man, the last episode really, really fucked me up emotionally. The animators, the team itself, all of them pushed through despite everything and I'm glad. This was truly an emotional roller-coaster.
I can't express just how much I loved this series. I've watched more anime in the last 12 months than I have in past years. I've seriously enjoyed a lot of what I've seen this year including Mushuko Tensie, Tokyo Revengers, AoT, Demon Slayer, Ranking of Kings, Odd Taxi, To Your Eternity, and others. But Eighty Six... Stole my heart and ran with it. I've consumed a lot of media but nothing has ever made me cry harder with joy than this episode of Eighty Six. Possibly the best season finally I've ever seen. Watching this series has been beyond a joy. I'm glad we got the breaks. No matter what happens with the anime, I will read the light novel and I will DEFFINETLY be keeping my eyes on any anime Toshimasa Ishii directs in the future.
Just finished the series it was amazing, I really hope they do a 2nd season. Might read the light novels
It’s hard to tie a season off in a satisfactory way, even without production issues, but dang 86 knocked it out of the park! Shin and Lena’s reunion was impeccable, let’s hope A-1 takes a well-deserved break, so we can hopefully get a season 2 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽
You can really tell how passionate the director and the animators are for this series, they are giving it their ALL to the show, and despite the production issues faced they still are dedicated to adapt it beautifully. Everyone in this day is talking how good studios like mappa and ufotable are in adapting and animating because of big shows like KNY and AoT, but right here we have A1 pictures working on a masterpiece, and like said you can tell how much care and effort the animators have put in into each and every episode of the series. 86 is a MASTERPIECE, I want to see more from this series, I want to see more 86 in the future so I'm praying and hoping to god there will be season 2 or movie cuz I'll take any of those.
The scene where Lena finally meets the 86 that she didn't think would survive, almost had me crying.
Just finished watching this masterpiece!
Glad Lena caught up to the 86.
This is Steins;Gate tier level stuff guys, the best of the best.
*I’m sad that it’s over 😔 but I ❤️ the anime so much and I hope we get a season 2.* 🙏🏽
It certainly brought me to tears. Recently speaking, I think the love and passion this studio put into 86 has only been matched by the team that worked on Mushoku Tensei. Such a great anime, I can only hope we get to see a season 2!
This is now a good time to keep buying the light novels, that way we show support to the author and that we REALLY care about the series.
If the Index franchise had received the same kind of love from their studio, we could have had a masterpiece on our hands!
I mean it Chibi! If you read the LN, my guess is you’d put that series within your top 5 list of the greatest light novels of all time! The story and themes talked about are nothing short of phenomenal!
We can only dream that it gets a remake or another studio takes it from now on.
True. The bridge scene is still one of my favorite scenes of any show
This was really GOOD... So emotional these last 2 episodes... I do hope for a Season 2 cuz this show deserves it. What a journey...
When Lena and the Spearhead squad met at the end, I was wondering why she didn't recognized them at 1st... And I completely forgot they ONLY had met by VOICE and not personally...
It just made the whole scene more impactful and you can see Lena's reacting after each voice being sound and that she didn't forget them.
What a great show. Love it
Just yesterday I watched the laste 2 episodes before that one huge delay, then watched episode 11 and now today I have yet to watch the season finale. This anime despite it's production issues delivered to the very end. no moment felt ruined or damaged by the delays, it stayed consistent in terms of quality and story right to the end.
Feels weird actually seeing her on the same screen as them, felt like throughout the show they were in completely separate shows (which is the point).
i didnt realise how much symbolism the sereies had after rewatching it for the second time, and also this series was the first i started to watch weekly and i just loved how it turned out, this will defently hold a special place in my heart forever!
All the delays just to release this episode on 20th March 2022 in Japan. Shin and Lena met up: 20th March 2150.
24 December 2149, where Shin and his group received their christmas presents, till 20th March 2150, is exactly 86 days.
LISTEN WE GETTING SEASON2 NO MATTER WHAT? AND LISTEN!!!!!!! IF WE GET PRODUCTIONS ISSUES AGAIN, ANIPLEX, NOT THE ANIMATORS, WE ARE CATCHING THESE HANDS!
A-1 is owned by Aniplex tho.
A-1 employees are also Aniplex employees
I just finished watching 86 and I didn’t know it had problems at first but wow such a great anime
This episode:
Lena:😭
Me: 😭
Shin: 😶
I have said this all last year: 86 is my Anime of the Year!! ❤❤❤👏👏👏
The animation, the direction and the music is absolutely amazing! The episode gave us the best ED (Avid), the best OP (Kyokaisen) and then, we get hit with a special ED for the end. Beautiful and powerful, all rolled into one called 'LilaS'!! I got chills when Lena meets Shin and others!
What a way to end! Let's hope for another season!🤞 #86EightySix #AnimeOfTheYear
Honestly i wouldnt mind if 86 didn’t get another season tbh. Its just a perfect conclusion in my opinion even though theres so much more. This is why i bought my first light novel of 86 to read past the ending of 86 starting volume 4
I agree. I feared I would cool down because of the wait, but having sit down and binge-watched the two last episodes + rewatched, while at that, the prior to episodes as well to remember a bit, made It all the more impactful. And as if a hard pain has finally been soothed.
This was a journey I didn't expect when I decided to watch it, and I'm glad I didn't drop it despite It being underspreciated during its Season.
And honestly, If we don't have a Season 2, with a finale this satisfying (honestly I can't believe It ended well, still pinching my arm because that's not a story you think will end well, at most bittersweet), I'll say goodbye to this anime with a lighted heart and sense of fullfilment.
It stands among the best, and, honestly, for pulling a finale that not only doesn't break It but solidifies It, it's on its own league, dare I say.
Very few anime have touched me as much as 86 did. I think this show truly excels in the breaking and formation of human connections. I really want the production studio to know that they did an outstanding job on the adaptation and I treasure every second, every frame and every bit of effort they'd put into the show. I really hope the delays didn't put them down and that they eventually come back to animate this breathtaking story again.
There's not many shows that can have such a heavy impact with such a fulfilling ending. 86 blew me away. Easily made it to my top 3 of all time. The way lena's face changed with the realization of her meeting was done masterfully, that entire scene has so much power.
You were very spot on ... on everything you said. I totally agree.
Hopefully we get more, the wait was definitely worth it. Even if there's more content, I'd still be happy with just only getting what we got so far
I really really hope we will get another season. I felt in love with this anime, and I could do anything to see more of it. Let's hope, they will annouce something at the Anniversary Event. Fingers crossed!
I'm really happy with the way they end season 1 with Lena meeting Shin, Raiden, Theo, Anju and Kurena. Hearing her says their own name, it hits different. The parallel of the train track is just so good.
About season 2, we may not get it in a year or 2. Perhaps 2023. There are still more to cover like, what happens to the Republic after this, the Legion, the other countries, the relationship between Shin and Lena, and also some other ships that will come after this.
We should support 86 by buying their merch and LN.
PLEASE season 2 !!
I love this series so much, cross our fingers for a season 2 🤞🏽
My LN reader friend said they already showed a few future characters' design in the final episode so we can, for sure, hope for a season 2 or even a movie.
I hope we get a season 2.
I'd assume we would but sometimes anime studios can't fully adapt light novels
I just finished 86 3 days ago and its amazing
This is the first anime that got me going to read the Light Novel. I have to read ahead. Theres no way i can wait for season 2 😭😭
as I have been saying in the comments on other videos about the series, it wouldn't have been right for A-1 to announce a renewal at the end of this episode, I think it would have given a bit of emotional overload to do that, better for them to sit back, relax and wait for the anniversary event to make the announcement, it is better to leave it for the special occasion anyway.
Plz god let us get a second season 🙏🙏🙏
I hope they can make another season.
AN ABSOLUTE PERFECT ADAPTATION !
I LOVE THIS SERIES
The way 86 ended took me back to when I first watched Cardcaptor Sakura whereby there is that one thing I hope happens throughout the anime. The fact that it happened at the very end is both such a big tease by A1 Pictures, but also made the payoff so much more worth it. I'm not kidding when I said I almost cried. I'm not going to forget this show anytime soon. 😁
Loved 86! It’d be sad to see it go, hope that they make it work!
If you notice we have waited 86 days too for last two episode
Please guys limit piracy so we can get another season cause I’m hooked
Same studio same staff needs to do season 2 and be given proper time to do it under as little stress as possible
I think we will get a season 2 announcement eventually. My guess is it will be around the end of this year. The reason for this is they just finished the broadcasting of the 1st season after so many production issues. As for the show itself it is great. In my opinion this could bring back Mecha into the mainstream. I was hoping it could blow up like Code Geass or Gurren Lagann but that didn't happen. Anyway it was a nice ride.
i'm so excited of 86 next season 🔥🔥🔥
This show was a masterpiece.Really hope that we get s2 announcement on the 10th April.
It was just such a great anime, ive never cried and cheered so much in an anime.
Farewell 86 . Until we meet again
This is truly a dark horse. No one, except for readers, saw this coming. This anime is TRULY one of the best directed anime I've ever seen. The love, nuance, symbolism, music, dialogue etc... All is top notch and will be spoken about as a cult classic for years to come
Well deserved wholesomeness, if anything these last 2 episodes have raised people's hype, popularity and appreciation for 86 much more, I think it's safe to say we will eventually get more 86, and now it's time to rewatch it again
I started to watch 86 2 days ago and... finished 1 hour ago - magnificent, especially ending. Will read LN for sure.
Amazing series
They must make a season 2!
10/10 can't change my mind. it is worth the wait, and definitely one of my favourite!
I just marathoned the rest of season 2. Damn, I cried so hard.
Technically part 2 of season 1 but me too man. That was a great way to conclude their stories for now :)
Please I need a season 2.
God that reunion made tears come to my eyes
I love what they did with this last episode. ln adaptations almost always seem to struggle trying to fit every single detail into each and every episode, but 86 can not only improve on many scenes but also add amazing original ones that add just as much to the story. I seriously hope they do a second season with how much love and care they put into the series, and they also showed shots of characters that will be important from volume 4(which would be in season 2) onward.
this was a great ending. i had all the feels going on. bravo to the anime team
We need a new season to come, soon
As someone who started this anime 4 Weeks ago let me tell you...even without a long wait this Anime ending hit hard and was beautiful in every way. I didn't have any lowered expectations and I think this ending gave us everything we wished for.
I've watched this anime 2-3 times, watched both sub and dub, and I absolutely loved it! It's one of the grittiest, dark mecha anime but has a beauty to it. It's awesome, watch 86 if you haven't, can't wait for the next installment but hopefully they take their time next season!
This anime hit me like a truck and with some of the current plot of the light novel being spoiled for me, this has to be one of my favorite stories in literal years.
Who else is going to binge watch the anime again and then reread all the novel volumes afterward
There's more juice to squeeze I hope we get another season
I dropped this anime in the first season 7 episodes deep, but after all the hype, I decided to give it another shot. Man what a great decision that ending and the whole journey was just great
Anime production will still go on ahead. Managa has been cancelled and Light novels are still being released, all is well, but I pray for the Author.
I binged this in one day and i’m glad I did. This is easily one of the best anime i’ve watched. I loved every moment of it and I’m definitely going to read the novels now to see what come next. Cannot wait!
I don't keep track of views/statistics for shows but I really do hope that the production issues didn't cost the anime the success it deserves. Just from the material alone, it's not going to be an explosive success like the other ongoing anime, but this is definitely such a special one. Fingers crossed for more; I mean, we get BLEACH back this year, so crazier things have happened, right?
this is when i came to know about and love and respect A-1 Pictures
86 was epic. From the soundtrack to the animation and VA. The anime came alive. Didn't want to watch 86 initially due to the naming. I thought it was a forgettable anime. Boy was I wrong.. And I'm very happy that I am.
Kudos to A1.
Separate note :The first anime I loved from a1 was grimgar of fantasy of Ash.
Didn't know they did it until I googled lols
This whole season was such a ride from the beginning to the end! A 8/10 from me.
The delay might be intention.
The date that announced delay is 2021 12/23
86 days away from 3/19
Ep. 23 release on 3/19 24:00 equal to 3/20 0:00
The date they meet is 2150 3/20
Lena meeting up with Shin and the rest of the members was the best moment for me. Also, the way both Lena and Shin's hands formed the number 86 in the end was amazing! It was indeed a fitting and beautiful conclusion.
Didn’t expect to shed tears watching this episode but I fucking did.
Next season please
