I just watched this anime and I couldn't understand that episode 9 onwards. Exactly what happened?

This anime is one of the few ones, that made my chest feel hollow yet heavy. The music for this anime set the tone well. Each episode slowly becoming more and more dark, with an ending that leaves you feeling content, not happy but content. As the ending was a good one and I am curious to see how they can push it even better for a second season. I very seldom get actually saddened or emotionally effected by anime, (As in I know it sad but I don't cry, I just feel sad for a bit?) This is an anime that actually brought me to the point of sadness, tears, and slight depression. Give it a watch, it is well worth it for 11 episodes.
I feel that, I legit told myself at ep 1, we all know how this ends but it won’t get me, no not this time. The end of episode 11 forcibly changed my mind at the end
Yeah, this is exactly how I felt. It is crushing, but it is so worth it at the same time.

The last two episodes of this show are something else. It really elevated it to a masterpiece for me. The ending was perfect.

Where can I read the LN for 86. I'm in love with this series
There was a lot of visual storytelling or "show, not tell" in the first episode, so I'm not sure everyone's gonna get it, but it was pretty solid in my opinion, the animation quality also surprised me, I'm hyped up to see how they're gonna portray some scenes from the novels.

Show not tell is the best kind of storytelling, it helps you to be more empathetic to the characters, instead of just plain monologue explaining what's going on in the world.

Don't count on it. A lot of viewers nowadays are spoiled with 'show and tell all by 1st episode'.
This is my favourite LN of ALL TIME without any competition. The story telling and characters are all just so amazing, and I really, really, really hope they don't screw this up.

Since racial discrimination is the theme, it was difficult to animate, and it has never become anime.

I finished watching the first set of 11 episodes, and man... I'm absolutely hooked. The sound design is amazing, decent character building, great plot, over all, I'd rate it an a+
I'm definitely sold on this Anime. The directing has been phenomenal, and the music. God the music. Having different ending tracks depending if it's supposed to be an upper or a downer us such a nice touch!

Personally, I really like 86 in fact ever since the first episode I've been looking forward to new episodes every day. The story, the animation style(art), the characters and the battles are all very interesting. I hope it gets more recognition

I was already interested in this anime when I heard the op a while back and found out hiroyuki sawano was gonna make the soundtrack, but now that I know a bit more about the plot/story I really hope it's good. I also barely ever read any light novels so I kinda hope that if it is good, they do a faithful complete adaption of the story.

The last 2 episodes of season 2 are delayed due to not being finished in time for their TV slot in Japan. Ironically, that means that the dub might actually finish before the sub since they'll be airing in March.
I felt so lost after watching episode 1 but you managed to make me understand the story context a bit more, thanks man!

tried reading the manga of 86 and realize it is so short so now I am stuck on either waiting for the anime episodes to be released or reading the LN, I actually like animes like these especially A-1 Pictures animating and hiroyuki Sawano with the music like damn it reminds me of Aldnoah Zero the first anime I watched that got me hooked up to the anime world.
Read the novel the first is 250 pages and they're all similar in length
In the Opening at 0:50 you can actually see Europe and north Africa. It seems like the Anime is taking place somewhere in North Africa. Maybe we will see Rommel with white hair lmao

I've been following you for a while, mostly for your Isekai videos, but I never realized we loved so many of the same things. Code Geass is my all time favorite anime and Sawano is easily in my top 3 composer for japanese games/animes, the other 2 being Nobuo Uematsu and Kevin Penkin (no particular order between the 3).

I just finished watching season one. This is definitely a must-watch anime, if for nothing else but the soundtrack. I felt pain and joy like nothing since some Fairy Tail arcs but at a deeper level. Great video that put me on track to try it. Thank you.
So coming back halfway through season 2, this anime ABSOLUTELY delivered, like damn, politics, gritty war drama, amazing fights and sounds, it has it all and it's getting better

This was one of my most hyped series this season, episode 1 didn't blow me away though, kinda reminded me of Schwarzesmarken with the coup de grace, great military mech anime btw, but it didn't give us enough to sell the mechs and the struggles the 86s go through, more of the hardships of the Major.. Hopefully they'll give us more of the 86s side in episode 2!

Using The World War 2 Framework is pretty interesting. By an Anime standpoint I'm seeing a lot of Gundam Wing Earth Forces vs The Space Colonies & Cross Ange with The Purity Discrimination factor.
WW2 from the perspective of the Nazis is an interesting take to use for this story.

But yet the first cour covered Volume 1 and some of Volume 2, I’d say this one of a pacing. The amount of details, foreshadowing, emphasis of emotion and OST makes it as one of my top anime this season.
After seeing this after watching this… all I can say it, this show is amazing and I highly recommend this‼️ this series can make it far

what's so good about the anime, I was not able get around the plot that even 86 platoon knew they are going to die and are forced to die they still chose to die instead of resisting, means that sound so dumb that it made "Now and Then, Here and There" run of its money.
Whole 1st series was a negative plot every one dead there is no outcome , whole premise is like dumb story written by some 15 year old. It just made me so frustrating that even with this dumb ass plot people like this anime.

I’ve waited so long for the 86 Light Novel to get a anime adaptation, easily my favorite Light Novel forever, every volume from 1-7 that I’ve read and have been released in English were incredible, every volume I enjoyed, the anime is already my favorite anime of all time hopefully they stay true to the Light novel, from the first episode it’s seems they did 1 chapter which is good pacing, Shin looked amazing and Lena is my Wife. FUCKING GLORY TO THE SPEARHEAD SQUADRON!!

You honestly convinced me to give this anime another shot. I remember reading a couple of chapters of the manga before tuning out. But I had a similar expierence with Code Geass, before I powered through and it became my favorite anime after the season 2 ending. So if you find it similar to Code Geass, I will give it another shot.
