Also important to note. The reason Rimuru and many of his followers are able to cast magic instantly is because they use an inherent skill that nullifies the cast time for magic, not necessarily because they are using skills.

This is one of the most interesting magic systems in modern media. It feels way more satisfying to me than the magic system in “Harry Potter”. Also, I really love how monsters can get more powerful with simply naming them.

Look up a book series called the Death Gate Cycle in their books, they detail different magic mechanics and how they were created and used.

@@sixtynine4009 Probably cause it was written book-by-book with the soul goal of capturing the "magic is so cool and mysterious" feel, and was never sat down and properly constructed. Hence why every new book/movie seems to have a new form of transportation that renders the previous forms completely pointless, and every time someone or something super famous is introduced, it's completely new to the audience.

@@aju542 Overlord is fairly heavily talked about though. It's magic system is not even as close as indepth as Slime. He still needs to talk about things like skill systems, souls, spirits, unique, extra, normal, and ultimate skills, physical, semi-spiritual, and full spiritual beings, and so much more. Many people in the fan base debate how these things work and need explanation it's so damn complicated.
This isn't to say that Overlord does not have a good magic system, it's just that Slime is one of the most indepth magic systems out there.

As someone who reads a lot of series and has read this in all of its forms, manga, anime, ln, web, it does a great job at : magic, races, evolution, etc that most isekai or fantasy don’t do well. Especially how they handled resurrection, that was 👌.
Completely agree with you, unlike most other shows, resurrection in Tensura has a very particular process that actually makes sense and also ensures that it can't be done whenever a character feels like it, Rimuru was lucky that it met the right conditions to resurrect the others.
@@beforeyousayanything515 Do NOT forget that the chance of failure is really high and Rimuru was only able to accomplish the resurrection process by having the other two nameless demons to supplement the necessary amount of magicules.
@@athanasiosdemertzis8847 Nameless Arch Demons. Demons are spiritual beings, meaning their body is entirely made up of magicules. One very important step in summoning magic is to provide a physical vessel for them because they can't maintain their existence on the physical plane without one.
Edit: I just wanted to point that out to further explain how those two Arch Demons could offer themselves up to supplement magicules.

Based on Raphael's convo with Veldora in the Manga's extra chapter , Raphael mentioned that she needs the "will to live" of the demons to be passed onto the dead so that they'll have the will to return to life. As the monsters/demi-humans in this world are known to believe in the idea of strong eats weak, they won't even bother dodging their apparent death. So Raphael devised the plan to use those demons right from the summoning stage so that the dead's souls accept the idea of resurrection, because if the will of the soul didn't accept it the resurrection wouldn't work. This also show a glimpse on how will/soul/spirit/ego work in Tensura universe.
i ve searching for an effecient way to read slime but i cant find any do u have any recommendations?
I don't think Rimuru making water blades is a good example for magic as he is not using magic. The water he uses is real water he stored in his stomach and the mental image is for him to calibrate the size and compression he needs to execute when spitting the water out. In the light novel, there is a very good explanation of the difference between physical effect and magic effect using fire as an example. if I remember correctly, magick fire is sustained by magicules so it does not consume oxygen and will only run out when there are no magicules anymore. Therefore, it bypasses the consequences of a real fire, like carbon monoxide, deprivation of oxygen.... spirit magic however creates the real deal so if you summon a fire spirit and use it to create fire, the fire obtain will consume oxygen and you will get all the side effect of natural fire, you just don't need a spark and accelerant.
If I remember correctly, this is explained in the volume where they are experimenting with automaton and trains, combining spirit magic and elemental magic to obtain real physical effects like steam to power up the train.

I’d love a video covering the concept of skills in Slime. It’s so diverse and fascinating how each character has one that interacts with the world. Some have crazier ones than others.
After 12min I didn't understand anything he was taking about but at the last 2min then I understand.
If you cover the actual source of skills and holy magic that will give major spoilers because it is intrinsic to the ending of the series.
Alot of the things you mentioned in the other "magicule related topics" are still impossible to answer, like, we don't really know everything about naming and the different methods of naming (As equals, to give blessings, as subordinate), or how "Rank" works within the system of the world, or how titles work precisely.
I Like how the author said during Volume 8 that he'd finish the story by Volume 16, but not only did the volumes themselves get bigger, at Volume 16 he said he'd finish the story by Volume 20, and now after Volume 18 hes saying that he probably won't be able to finish it at Volume 20 anymore either. Lol.
If i had to guess, then the main story will end around volume 22 or 23. I hope Fuze adds more side stories from after the main events like they did in the web novel (the veldora, ramiris, and beretta isekai was really good)

The reason why it's in my top 3 isekai is solely coz of its systems. It's got so much depth and variance. BRB gonna rewatch the evolution scene again and the ability dump.

Yeah, the light novel has so many details that the anime and manga had to cut a lot of the in depth details to avoid making the anime and manga excruciatingly slow, shame really, but completely understandable.

@@KhanMann66 when you think about it, it's kind of beautiful. You have a magic system so complex yet so simple to explain to more casual audiences. If the anime went more in depth into the magic system, no doubt a lot of people would have lost interest in it because the story would progress very slowly because of the explanations

this series is seriously under rated, the anime honestly didnt cover much. The first season was just an introduction to the characters and the second season was basically the very early introduction to the actual plot. On top of that, since its an anime, u dont rly get whats going on when a fight happens. You usually think that its just a cool badass looking skill/spell/whatever this anime has while the LN has the opportunity to explain things a little more and make it more interesting. But even without that point, the story is still just starting and the good part wasnt shown yet

In my opinion, the Magic in Tensura is probably one of the hardest mechanics to understand in the series due to how little they actually touch on it :P
They focus a lot more on the Skill aspect of things as with them being monsters, magic is almost natural to them.

The amount of people working on it will expand I think. Slime is killing it in the sales. While I want a lot of it, I don't want to see a large drop in quality. It's one of the best looking manga I have ever seen. Maybe once a lot of the side stories finish, those teams will help out with the main series. Ways of the monster nation will most likely stop once it reaches volume 18, as it's I think volume 13 right now.

Damn this video alone made me realize how in-depth the slime-verse is
I switched over the the manga recently because I couldn't wait for the second part of season 2, and was delighted to see how much more intrigue there is. Like trade deals and international relations and entire chapters that were simply skipped. Like Rimuru joining the adventurer's guild or establishing Myourmiles before Rimuru saves him from the sky dragon in a way cooler way. Some find the scheming background and world building dull, but I love it. It's the sort of thing that made the early seasons of Game of Thrones so great. But I didn't start reading the manga from the very beginning, and apparently I missed a lot of cool stuff. I'd love seeing more slime deep dive videos like this. About skills, races, the politics, the naming...

Glad you are doing this. Even though I read the first Light Novel(amazing by the way), I could tell it was really dense with lore and a robust magic system. So a refresher video is nice to reinforce those concepts. Overall, Slime is amazing. My favorite Isekai series I'm currently checking out. :)

Yeah, ultimate skills are an interesting part of the power system, they're basically skill versions of world-level items from Overlord.

Something importat to note is that the amout of magicule not necesarelly makes you stronger, things like experience in long loved species can make up for the magicule amount. And then there's that whole existence points thing that got introduced in the latest volumes.
I mean, a certain colored demon can go toe to toe against a certain force of nature that doubles his magicule amount and existence value.
I think diving into this anime is going to be a breath of fresh air. This anime is just that good and complex enough to make several videos about it...looking foward to them all!!

There is an important difference between Elemental Magic and Spirit Magic, and that is that elemental magic doesn't fallows the laws of physics, but spirits magic does. An example is that elemental fire won't need air (O2) to burn, but spirit magic will.

Normal Magic work by manipulation of law using magiculs .
Anti-magic barrier prevents manipulation of law .
Spirit magic follow law of the world so anti-Magic cannot stop it
Megido is spirit magic and physic magic. Water spirits make lense and sun light is concentrate into lazer by lenses which is just normal physical phenomena.
I do like and take interest in this system but for me, the (WN spoiler)
