I love how what he's address at the end they call him "Gary King, of the humans", but later it's parsed "Gary, King of the humans!"

The big reveal that you seem to have missed is that Gary was not in AA, he was in a support group for people who tried to commit suicide! That's why his wrists were bandaged.

    @dedded101 Před 9 měsíci +14

The bandages on Gary's wrists are because he tried to kill himself. Thats why he had hospital tags, and was in a support group at the start. It's also why he didn't want to show his arm earlier in the smokehouse.

Yeah, I'm surprised so many people miss that. It pretty much completely shifts the context of Gary's behavior and adds incredible depth to Gary, making you re-examine his recklessness and near psychotic fixation on finishing the Golden Mile. It's the emotional core of the movie and what ties it together with the rest of the trilogy, whose underlying themes behind all the well written dialogue, incredible editing/pacing, and running gags, are all about dealing with the troubles of adulthood and becoming a better version of yourself (Shaun learning to finally start taking responsibility as a young adult and getting out of an late 20s slump; Christopher Angel learning to enjoy the simple things in life and to pay more attention to other people; and Gary obviously being the most extreme case of them all)

My favourite. Watch it again. Then again. And keep watching until you spot ALL the visual gags. Like the first roundabout being opened "circa".... And it's not only the World's End which is an appropriately named pub. Seriously, so many gags!

Easily the best of the trilogy. Not a wasted line or scene in the entire movie, so brilliantly crafted characters and such a unique film

This is my personal favorite of the trilogy, but as far as the cornetto trilogy goes I can also make the case for it being the weakest of the three. But it is the most mature of them, while still managing to be darn funny as expected.
    Some fun stuff:
    - Gary's opening montage explaining the night when they were youngsters forshadows the entire rest of the movie. Everything he explains that happened more or less repeats itself when they go again as adults.
    - Their character names reflect a king and the members of his court.
-Gary King - The King. The fearless leader of the group.
-Oliver Chamberlain - A Chamberlains job is to run the house of a monarch or noble, coicidentally, Oliver is also a real estate agent.
-Peter Page - Peter is referred as "the baby of the group." A page was a youth attendant on a person of rank especially in the medieval period.
-Steven Prince - Steven was close with Gary, but always took the back seat when it came to chasing girls and leading the group. A prince is second in line to the King.
-Andy Knightley - Andy was Gary's best friend, always had his back, and would follow Gary to the end, much like a Knight in the service of a King.
    - The names of the pubs, and their signs, are all relevant to that moment in the plot.
-The First Post - It's their first stop.
-The Old Familiar - It looks identical to the first pub.
-The Famous Cock - That's Gary, who was barred from the pub.
-The Cross Hands - After the bathroom fight, and leaving, they are finally all five together as one.
-The Good Companions - They are now pretending to be happy and fitting in to keep the crawl going.
    - The Trusty Servant - That is the Reverend Green, who is not one of the blanks.
-The Two-Headed Dog - That would be the twins that they fight.
-The Mermaid - Mermaid sounds like marmalade (sandwich), and mermaids traditionally are like sirens who lures ones to their death.
-The Beehive - Mr. Shepherd explains the intention of making humanity into an artificial hive mind, and the place is a literal hive of blanks.
-The King's Head - Gary chooses the crawl over leaving, and will ditch Andy and Steven, showing them just how struggled he is inside.
-The Hole In The Wall - Steven drives the car through the wall.
    -The World's End - Well...

I agree, Hot Fuzz is the best of the trilogy, cool reaction ❤

A lot of people would place this third of the Cornetto Trilogy BUT it really grows on re-watches. There is more depth with the character stuff which combines with the comedy. I think Hot Fuzz is still my favourite but I think I prefer this to Shaun of the Dead.

Paul isn't part of the trilogy. It's a decent movie but imo not that great, and its attitude to Christianity is pretty nasty and mean-spirited.

Paul, is a good film , you just have to get all the references to about 30 other movies.

My favorite of the trilogy has moved over time from SOTD to Hot Fuzz and currently to TWE. I’ve dealt with depression and suicidal thoughts and I can relate to Gary King through those experiences. I love the raw emotion the movie brings that it could’ve left out just because it’s easier.

12:29...Yep urinal etiquette is definitely a thing, especially leaving a gap between yourself and the next man. We're not animals, we live in a society (copyright Jim Jefferies) 😉😊

You might like to try 'Spaced' the TV series by Simon, Edgar and Nick, and 'Paul' - Nick and Simon without Edgar, and 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World' - Edgar without Nick and Simon

Nick, sitting here replaying the dual explosions in both of your faces. When the teen's head pop's off in the urinal.

[EDIT] And one of the background actors from all three films is Rafe Spall. Now play the "Figure Out Who That Is" game. LOL.

Glad you got to see this. Definitely a different vibe but so many great gags and call backs ;-) Would love you to react to Simon in Run Fatboy Run. A great comedy with Hank Azaria and Dylan Moran
