Gunther has basically performed mouth to mouth, resuscitating the IC Title, and then rehabilitating it to be the best fighter in the history of the world.

The IC title depends more on booking than who is holding. Whenever they book it weak, it looks weak. When they book it as an important title, it is important.

In terms of his IC tenure, dude has absolutely killed it! Made the belt better than it was before he got it. IC was and should be the work rate belt for those guys who everyone loves and draw but not quite there yet

What are you talking about? Gunther's, who was previously known as WALTER on NXT UK & NXT, NXT UK title reign was mentioned in the video. That reign lasted from April 2019 on the night of NXT Takeover: New York when he obliterated Pete Dunne, despite Pete definitely putting up a hell of a fight against WALTER, to August 2021 at NXT Takeover 36, losing by tapping out to a sleeper submission hold from Ilja Dragunov(who is currently the NXT champion), ending WALTER's reign at a massive 871 days. I know that Gunther is going to surpass his NXT UK title reign record. As much as I believe Sami Zayn can beat Gunther at WrestleMania XL(40), I doubt it will happen. Then again, if it does, I'll be shocked, but happy for Sami becoming a 4-time Intercontinental champion, just like the late Scott "Razor Ramon" Hall.

To give you an idea of just how silent the crowd was when Sammartino finally dropped the belt for the first time: I recall reading an interview where he stated that after Koloff pinned him, and the match was officially over, the former champ thought to himself, "Oh god, I've gone deaf." Imagine the shock the audience felt when Lesnar broke The Streak at WrestleMania 30, and multiply it. *That* was how quiet the stadium was.
Honorable mention to Dean Ambrose’s US title reign with the Shield, which fell just short of a full year, and I believe is the longest single reign since the title came to WWE.
351 days, and you're right. Another two weeks and he'd have made the year.
Only problem was despite having such a long reign he never really had any memorable moments with the title specifically.
He didn't really defend it, he was with the shield at the time so he mostly competed in 6-man tag team matches with Evolution, 3MB and Wyatt Family. His only defense I remember was a DQ win over KANE.

I think Cena's reign should be higher. He had countless great matches against Umaga, HBK, The Fatal 4-Way at Backlash, against Lashley and Orton and even gave Khali two decent matches.

I agree 100%, it was the highlight run of his career imo. It’s the super cena stuff that would follow after that puts a damper on this run- but in a bubble it’s one of the best of all time.

I'd love to see a list of who had the most title defences during a single title run. I think there could be some real surprises, and would definitely highlight the work horses who've held the belts.

You guys forgot to mention Asuka NXT women's championship reign she's been champion for 2 years doing the black and gold days and she left NXT undefeated due to injury before coming to the main roster I swear she don't get no love in WWE

Asuka's only NXT Women's championship reign still remains the longest reign in that title's history(Shayna Baszler only beat Asuka's 516 day reign over the course of 2 NXT Women's title reigns; she's the first ever 2 time NXT Women's champion as well). Hell, Asuka was not only undefeated before becoming NXT Women's champion, she was undefeated during the entire reign. Asuka recently returned to NXT, alongside Kairi Sane, for the first time in over 6 years since 2016 & successfully defended their WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against Tatum Paxley & current NXT Women's champion, Lyra Valkyria, keeping her NXT match undefeated streak intact. The Viking Raiders were undefeated on NXT when they were called to the main roster, but their streak ended when they returned to NXT & lost to the Creed Brothers. Who knows if or when Asuka will suffer her first pinfall or submission defeat on NXT?

JD McDonagh held the NXT Cruiserweight Championship for 439 days, tho most of it was spent injured and there was an interim champion, but he is listed everywhere as holding the belt for 439 days.

I want to see a list of WWE title reigns when the champion turns heel or face(from good to bad or bad to good). There was a few of them in this video. Trish Stratus' 6th WWE Women's championship reign began when she was a heel, defeating a babyface Lita, but Trish turned face by the end of Summer 2005.
Demolition were heel tag team champions, but over the course of their historic reign, they turned babyface.
CM Punk's 2nd WWE Title reign began when he was a babyface at Survivor Series 2011, but by the end of the 1,000 WWE Monday Night Raw episode, CM Punk turned heel.
The New Day's 2nd & longest WWE Tag Team Championship reign began at the 2015 SummerSlam PPV as heels, but over the course of that reign, they turned face, in which they went from receiving "New Day Sucks" crowd chants to "New Day Rocks" crowd chants.
Honorable, perhaps dishonorable, mention to Chris Jericho's 8th Intercontinental title reign from early 2008, winning the title on WWE Monday Night Raw in March from Jeff Hardy as a babyface, turn heel by attacking Shawn Michaels on his Highlight Reel talk show segment, smashing Shawn's face through the Jeritron, which led to Jericho losing the title at Vengeance: Night Of Champions to recently drafted Raw superstar from WWECW, Kofi Kingston.
More than anything, I just want a supercut of all of Adam's reactions and bits from these videos.
Maybe it's recency bias, but I'd have put the Usos' reign a few spots higher. They generally do not get enough credit for being two of the very very very best professional wrestlers of our time, and they did something incredible that has never ever happened in WWE before: made the Tag Championships feel like they were on the same level as the World Championship.

*CM Punk’s 434 WWE title run has to be my favorite World championship of all time. Even though it really sucks that the company never treated him like the top guy because they were more focused on Cena and The Rock, he did the best he could to make that run feel important. On top of that, it never felt like it got boring because it always offered something new and something fresh to keep me intrigued with it. It was great the way he initially started off as a face and slowly doing a great job of turning him heel with also having a justifiable reason to. The less said about how his reign ended, the better because it was just so underwhelming.*
It's weird to see the Usos on here. Their incredibly long title reign was just a footnote in Roman's excruciatingly long title reign.

In CMLL, championship reigns that are over 2+ years are commonplace because their big matches are more for another wrestlers' mask or hair.
Luchadores value their masks more than any title. Many of the greats took their kayfabe so seriously that they never let themselves be seen in public without their masks.
Maybe it's just me but the background music for this was SO distracting. I kept thinking there was some weird music coming from somewher else with the very faint notes in the background.

As a professional wrestler the caliber of a lot of wwe wrestlers especially main eventers. It's easy to hold the wwe championship as long as Roman has when you only defend three times a year show up 7 times a year and wrestle an additional non title 4 times a year.
