I was surprised WWE didn’t acknowledge Crash Holly’s death. It took me about a year to find out about it.
I'm pretty sure I found out watching the In Memoriam part ECW One Night Stand.
I just found out about it from the thumbnail.
I loved Crash as a kid. Something about a little small dude being a complete bad ass was awesome. I also really liked Spide Dudley too.

They acknowledged Crash Holly's death at a non-televised event the week it happened. In Poughkeepsie, NY before a Smackdown house show, they tolled the bell 10 times for him. (I was at that show, that's how I found out he'd died).

I agree. Getting the big boot over is one thing, but an elbow drop? Just goes to show although Test wasn’t the best worker, he sure did have a presence in the ring. Rest in power Andrew.

They mentioned it on a ticker running at the bottom of the screen. They did just mention Umaga on live TV. It was on a ticker
At least Chyna got acknowledged at the 2019 HOF and was inducted into it part of DX
I'll always question what exactly happened between Jack Tunney and WWE for them to distance the way they did.
Simple, with the gamblings debts and Vince McMahon no longer needing Keyfabe. He just dump the guy, because of his ego won't share the spotlight anymore

Honourable Mention must go to Umaga (Edward Fatu), The Former Intercontinental Champion passed away on December 9th 2009 from a Heart Attack brought on by a Toxic Cocktail of Prescription Drugs in his System, After he was Let Go on the 8th of June that year for Violating the Wellness Policy for the 2nd Time & Refusing to go to rehab by WWE, The Samoan Bulldozer received No Tribute, Much to the Outrage of fans.
I remember Jericho mentioning this on his podcast and I found it strange, especially since he claimed Vince was really distraught after he found out he passed.
i remember i googled Umaga one day cuz i was wondering what happened to him and if he was still wrestling, come to find out he had passed away a couple years earlier.. i was stunned, i couldn't believe they ignored it and didn't mention it, both of his runs as Jamal and Umaga were memorable
Also apparently Umaga and WWE made a deal in which he would return at the 2010 Royal Rumble, would've been interesting to see how that would've gone

For the vast part of my childhood, I thought Jack Tunney was the WWF President. I had no idea he was just some guy Vince put in there, so I have always held him in great reverence. He felt...important. Sad to see he got no love after he passed. RIP, Mr. Tunney.
Jack Tunney should be in mainstream lexicon as the telegraphed NOT the real power authority.

In a nutshell, Tunney (and his family) was running the Toronto Market and handed especially the Maple Leaf Garden to Vince - which allowed him more ir less taking over the rest of the Canadian Market. (Funny enough, when he was fired, Tunney took the right for Wrestling shows in the Garden with him, but the venue closed entirely in 1999)
I got into an argument with a kid on the school bus, who insisted that Jack Tunney was in charge and Vince McMahon was merely an announcer/host.
He also refused to believe that the wrestling was choreographed and the matches' outcomes were predetermined.

I met Crash Holly's brother at a show. He got my Mom's poster sized Undertaker Drawing autographed. My sister had dropped her Painting of Kane over a rail and he retrieved that as well. My mom had grabbed a random dude to look for me in the bathroom at the Arena because i used a different set of Bathrooms. He turned out to be Crash's Brother.
Man these people passing away are tragic. Rest in peace to those that passed away.

I'm convinced that Chris Kanyon's lack of a push and the way he was treated in WWE after the sale of WCW was primarily because he was a WCW wrestler. (I don't doubt that his sexual preference played a role in how he was treated.) No denying he was talented and underappreciated in WWE.

The guy was bland and he never deserved a push. I never got why people loved him. He was just bang average.

When Chyna Died She Didn't Even Get A Ten Bell Salute And Then After Umaga Died He Didn't Even Get The Same Treatment.

IRL Joannie Laurer was a very feminine and-for her size-remarkably dainty woman who wore skirts and makeup everyday. Vince Russo, though, made her into a bull dyke character who wrestled men, acted dominant and masculine, and degenerated herself on TV.
After WWE, she tried to work in other (women's) athletic pursuits, but because of her reputation and typecasting, nobody gave her a chance. The only work she could get-despite being a phenomenal athlete-was in a celebrity boxing match against Joey Buttafuoco.
The match (naturally) had to be stopped in the 1st round before he would have crippled her or worse. Apparently, everyone forgot that she was a woman. 🤦
Because she went into the sex business , and umaga was a useless drug user who REFUSED to get help,lied multiple times about it and was difficult about his drug taking for NO REASON,not really that surprising if you actually thought about it

The passing of Nature boy Buddy Rogers, the very first WW(W)F champion was not at all acknowledged

1:36 - Kerry Von Erich's passing was absolutely mentioned by the WWF in 1993. A year-end edition of WWF magazine had a series of "awards" for various WWF personalities. One of them was the "Gone but not forgotten" award, which was given to both Andre the Giant and the Texas Tornado "who both passed away in 1993." Notable here was that Dino Bravo was not mentioned. In contrast, Andre the Giant's passing was mentioned multiple times, including the first ever 10 bell salute on RAW, and was the inaugural/first inductee in the WWF Hall of Fame was it was launched in the spring of 1993.
Lance Cade in a interview in 2010( the year he died) he said he was in pain and he would sleep one hour a night due to that and he said he doesn t wanna die , truly sad

The guy behind the "Umaga" character Eddie Fatu is the brother of Rikishi and the uncle of the usos. Now he made a brief appearance in 2003 under the ring name Jamal as part of the 3 Minute Warning group. Then 3 years later he debuted under the ring name "Umaga". He fought many other wrestlers which included CM Punk in 2009. He was released in that same year after failing a wellness policy test that WWE implemented. He died on Friday December 4th 2009 at 36 years old. WWE failed to acknowledge Umaga's death because he was not under their contract
I still can't believe WWE did pay respect to Shad Gaspard with at least the greyed out photo after he SACRIFICED HIS OWN LIFE FOR HIS SON'S LIFE. And how is he not on this list?

I remember WWE making a tribute for those who passed away in 2003. I remember Classy Freddie Blassie and Crash Holly there. They used My Immortal as the song
Yep, just looking for this comment. It also showed Mr Perfect throwing, chasing down and catching a football as part of the tribute. I think the tribute video was well done and remembered them well. However, the fact that WWE doesn't pay the respect that the athletes (who make their business successful) immediately after they pass away, is a tasteless joke. I thought after the night Owen Hart died, they would learn their mistake in terms of 'the show must go on' and instead remember the wrestler who died properly. And it doesn't matter if that person was a jobber or a champion, they keep the Business alive just as much as the fans who pay to see them.
I get people want entertainment, it's what they've paid to see, but like Bubba Ray Dudley said during the 10 bell Rick Rude tribute on ECW to a heckling fan - 'This Is Real F***ing Life'!

i guess it was a little cold but i can also believe that she did only meet him once. its not her company and she was focused on her own career after her on screen role diminished (which was before cade was even in ovw let alone on the main roster). i really dont see any reason for adam to say she was lying in her statement as she only ever really worked closely with main eventers anyways. if your spouses employee dies and someone asks you about it what would you really say other than "i didnt really know them, but its terrible that they died". she left out that second part but i dont think it came out of any bad nature.
Personally I think these were more of Vince ignoring them and making the company follow suit, because when Brodie Lee died, you know damn well that Vince DID NOT want to acknowledge him after that tongue and cheek spoof Brodie did of Vince

@@JaimeD. Brodie actually was acknowledged by WWE, most notably by Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods during Smackdown (or RAW, I can't remember) wrestling fans and fellow wrestlers basically had to twist Vince's arm to the point of breaking for Brodie to be mentioned

Jack Tunney was the one that angered me the most when he wasn't mentioned. He was a very important figure in one of the hottest points in WWF's history.

I was a bit sad that WWE didn't acknowledge John Klinger's Death last month in a minor form. He never wrestled for WWE but was an absolute legend of the European Scene and got many current WWE stars started. I didn't expect them to, but still sad.

grandmaster sexay(jerry the king lawlers son) died, he was murdered while in jail and they framed it to make it look like a suicide to remove their own culpability, i don't think WWE ever mentioned it
There is no evidence or proof of that. It was suicide.
There is no evidence they "framed it". He did it to himself, Jerry ended up suing because they had specifically told him he'd be closely monitored to avoid that happening.
It was said that Test didn’t kiss ass or follow directives quietly. Basically, the same as Shawn Michaels but did not have the same clout.

A (admittly rather petty) correction. In 1993 WWF magazine published an article listing " Slammy" award winners. One of these awards was the "may they rest in peace" award. Which went to both Andre the Giant and Kerry Von Erich. Strangly Dino Bravo was not acknowledged.
The scariest irony was when the Dino Bravo Kerry Von Erich match was brought up because both of them ended up dying from something drug related and neither of them got the recognition they should have deserved until documentaries came out about their families and what they were up to.
Really appreciate Crash being #1 on the list, honestly, it was years before I found out about his passing, and I always enjoyed his work with WWE a hell of a lot.
The Von Erich family had the unfortunate occurrence most male members back in the classical days of professional wrestling dying too early. 😔
Six sons from that family, five of them died quite young:
* Jack Adkisson, Jr.: Died in a very freak accident at the age of six that involved an electric shock and falling face first into a puddle of melting snow. (Adkisson was the actual family name, and he was named after his father, who would become known as “Fritz Von Erich” in his wrestling career.)
* David Von Erich: Died in 1984 under mysterious circumstances during a tour of Japan. The official cause of death was given as “enteritis” (inflammation of the small intestine), but many suspect he may have died of a drug overdose. He was just 25.
* Mike Von Erich: Died in 1987 from suicide via overdose at the age of 23.
* Chris Von Erich: Died by suicide in 1991 at the age of 21.
* Kerry Von Erich: Mentioned in this video, died by suicide in 1993 at the age of 33.
The birth order, by the way, is as follows: Jack, Kevin, David, Kerry, Mike, and Chris.
The Von Erichs sadly called as the Kennedys of Professional wrestling.

This goes to show how a lot of corporations and companies treat the people who keep them afloat, and the ones who they just see as just another worker, even though they’re a big help too. Much respect to these people. 🙏🏽
Ludvig Borga was completely understandable. He was a very awful human being. Nobody, not even his wife had any sympathy when he passed away. That shows you how terrible he was as a human being

I know in Canada, they ran a Kerry Von Erich graphic before Superstars or Cavalcade. Its how I found out he had passed.
I remember watching crash holly as a kid, I love seeing them on screen, I had no idea He was dead until many years later, I don't understand why WWE Did that to him, It still makes me sick.
I was at the Raw a few days after Macho died and they didn't do a ton for him either.

I met Lance twice when I worked at Golds Gym as he was close friends with my boss at the time. He had already left WWE, and he told me in the mens locker room of the gym he was currently working in Japan. I asked him if he ever planned to go back to WWE, and he said he didn't know when, but he planned to go back someday.
It shouldn't matter what kind of terms wrestlers left the company. All wrestlers should be shown respect and honored for their time they spent with the company. But, we are talking about Vince, who never cared about them, only himself. I respect all wrestlers who took time to entertain us and pay tribute to them. Thank you for doing what you did. And, you will never be forgotten. Pray Paul ( Triple H) won't turn that cold blooded.
These wrestlers deserved to be treated better by wwe but then again I'm not surprised this is just another in long list of screw ups by wwe

I learned about Kerry's passing when they mentioned it during a story on the Von Erich family on A Current Affair
My dad and I were in WaldenBooks in our local mall and one of us picked up a magazine that had Andre and Kerry on the cover, as it was a tribute issue for both of them. We were stunned. I had just met Kerry the year before at an autograph signing, so seeing that he was dead, and then opening the magazine to read that he'd killed himself, was very upsetting to me as a 12-year-old.
Test was one of my favorites growing up. He had a sick Sidewalk Slam and an amazing Big Boot
we used to get Superstars back in the early 90s and they did show a titlecard at the end of the show when Kerry died.
I was really surprised when I heard Test had died since it was never mentioned. He had some decent programs, and he was a great performer who could've been pushed better that he was.

Test should have been way bigger. Shame he never got the credit he should have. Being part of the Corporation, Union and potentially a feud with Hunter.
He was doomed the moment they decided to go with the Triple H/Stephanie storyline. They weren't going to have him go over Hunter at that time, which was a defensible position, so he was always going to look like a chump, unfortunately. It just seemed like they'd only ever let him go so far throughout his initial run. But the ECW run was pretty bad. He was obviously over-roided and not nearly as good.
He was supposedly difficult to work with and pretty stiff

He wasn’t THAT good unfortunately. That’s why they did Vince vs HHH at Armageddon 1999
