It’s a little bit funny. Actually I am not interested in cycling at all, but I like you and your entertaining way to explain things. So I’m watching videos about cycling now 😅
Thanks for sticking around 🤘
Thanks for being such a great guy! You really helped me a lot by sharing your knowledge. And even though I’m not that much into cycling videos like this one are quite interesting for me as well.
This is great, I don't have friends either! Great solution.
😅 Cheers!
I’ve seen tons of One X2 reviews, but this is the first where a reviewer shared something their proud of unrelated to film and I love it, keep it up!
Thanks!
That "need a friend" joke at 2 minutes with the B/W fade! LOL
I think you just sold me!
I'm also a cyclist in the Print Industry, field service in PrePress, so I started with Drum Scanners, now Platesetters...so much change.
This technology is AMAZING!
Although this video was taken 2 years ago, I still found it very helpful. You saved me a lot of time experimenting with camera angle 👍
The video quality at the highest level is awesome even when zooming to a certain extent...Play around with the settings it gets better..Great review👍🏾👍🏾
Do you edit on the phone or with the Desktop App and what export settings do you use? Thanks in advance for sharing ;)
Ff
Thank you for the translation for the non-nerds, really helped me decide if the camera is aligned with my intended purposes
I just got my Insta360 ONE X2 in the mail yesterday and today was my first time trying it out while on a bike ride. I LOVE IT! Your video explained things really well and gave me the tips I was looking for.
I also have a few GoPros as well that I don't think I'll be able to part with either 😅
Thanks for the helpful video!
just got mine today!
Nice breakdown. Glad Im not the only one who isn't crazy about the image quality.
Really good video. I'm a cyclist and just purchased this thing. Your video saved me hours of experimentation and it's sincerely appreciated. Thank you.
Thanks for explaining in "non camera nerds" terminology. That really does help.
I just bought insta360 a minutes ago, your video is the first one I watched. Thanks!
But you know, that the color from the GoPro is hard pushed from the Software. That you can also use on the Insta with the VividColor Setting. or in the PostProcessing with a good LUT. And for the stitching "error" - imagine the Insta360 is a huge fan on the sides, this helps visualize the stitching line. Then you just have to turn the camera so that the "rotor blades" do not cross the important points and good.
That’s really good advice for avoiding stitching errors 🙏
Your video is one of the best I have seen about using the One X2. I'm an older guy and enjoy my riding and enjoy the options this camera offers. I'm not a video nerd but do have fun using the X2. Thanks for this excellent tips.
I had the same issues with the front mount slipping but I started using the Small Rig and it’s been great! Easy to take on and off and you can easily transfer it to different parts of your bike to mount for a lot of those angles you were talking about!
Oh, I'll check it out, thanks!
Wow thanks for the tip!
fr just binged your channel, you deserve WAY more subs. Keep up the great work.
Thanks dude, appreciate it!
I REALLY appreciate this breakdown of the multiple camera angle options and the guidance for a bike ride. I purchased two of these to put on bikers for the Five Boro Bike Tour in NYC this weekend and this saved me. Much appreciated. Liked and subbed.
This is the content I was looking for🥰. Thank you so much for amazing video with great explanation!
i love you videos mitch! im a new subscriber from philippines, a cyclist as a hobby lol, and a newbhie cyclist vlogger, i learned a lot about your videos and planning to buy x3 to upgrade my recording, thanks a bunch! Ride safe always man!
Thanks dude! Appreciate you 🙌
Man I have been shooting our bike rides road, tandem, gravel for the last 2 years with a oneR. From what I saw from this video I think you can get alot better final product once you get more familiar with the editing and reframing your shots. The app is way better than the desk top in my opinion. It has more features to edit and its much faster. the oneR and oneX2 use hte same app so don't give up. you'll end up with some killer stuff.
hello, thank you for the nice video. Where can I find the attachment that you attach the selfie stick to your bike? Do you have the full name or link?
here ya go! czcams.com/video/dZK6k-NpDJ4/video.html
@@MitchBoyer I'm about to find out how much worse the bounce is by trying this with the Insta360 One R 🤣🤦♂
I bought mine early in the year before I left for 6 weeks in Panamá. I did a minimal amount of testing before I left mid February. I recorded on bike rides in Bocas del Toro (in Bocastown the roads make the streets of LA feel like a well-maintained speedway by comparison) and on an e bike tour of the Boquete highlands. On the island I used my GoPro handlebar mount; in Boquete I used a crappy handheld telescoping selfie stick, which at times led to hideous stitching errors. Only about a week ago did I discover the desktop app and start using it on my laptop. Thanks for this video. I’m playing catch-up learning about the One X2 in between trips since the Hero 10 is my go-to. It should be interesting using it in Lisbon.
Wow I’m jealous of all your adventures! Excited to see how it works for you in Lisbon!
Enjoyed the comparison views with 5 different mount locations. 😊 Found the Taisioner Super Clamp on one of your other videos, thanks!
Giggled at the friends comment, great video pal really makes me want to give it a go.
To carry tools and such, I use a small Pelican case (5x9x7-in. ?) mounted to my front rack. I can lock it and feel reasonably sure my tools aren't going to walk off while I go into the grocery store. Thanks for the great video!
I was torn between Go2 and One X2. After watching your video, I think I have made up my mine.. Great job!
It was good to see you thought the video was bumpy too. Enjoyed the review. Thanks for sharing.
I have my X2 mounted to the back of my cycle helmet arched over so it looks a bit like a scorpions tail. It puts the centre of gravity almost over my head so it doesn't make the helmet slip backwards. By being on the helmet it takes a lot of vibration out of the video and I get quite nice footage.
I saw an awesome Stealth ebike video a couple of days ago, done very well, and wondered how they did it ... thinking it would be something like this -- then this vid popped up in my newsfeed just now -- the perfect reveal! Thanks!
10:18 You can if you do picture in picture. Like zoom-in on your hand changing bracket or something and put that in a corner
nice review bro. I just bought this online. can't wait to explore the possibilities when its arrived.
Greeting from Indonesia.
Just fit purchased the new X.3 and one thing I noticed is that whenever people are using the 360 views for some reason the field of view is so distorted? That’s one thing I don’t like about this particular camera is the distortion so when I get mine what I’m going to do is primarily I think I’m going to use the single lens setting or if I do use the 360 I’m going to shorten up the field of view….. making the pictures look more normal like a GoPro.
Thanks for awesome explanation Mitch. Just what I was looking for as other reviews didn't show me how to mount the camera for different angles. I was trying to decide between the One R and this one. Sure you've got the saddle bag by now. Cheers.
Very thorough and informative review from a cyclist's perspective. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
I use the Cycliq front and rear cameras on my bike and they work fine but like all cameras they have their downsides. After seeing this excellent video I think the Insta360 ONE X2 would be a valuable addition to have on my rides. I have to overcome two obstacles: 1- I will just have to determine the best way to mount it in the event of a crash which I average about one per year. 2 - Convince my wife to let me make the purchase.
Those are two big obstacles, especially number two 😂 good luck!
Thanks! I learned a lot about cameras. The detailed explanation was great. Keep it going.
I think the lack of a insta360 one x2 is why I don't have a KOM yet... Great video and great presentation, you have a new subscriber!
Haha. It’s very aero. Probably gained 50 watts 😜 thanks for watching!
Thanks Mitch very useful as I am considering purchasing one soon as I am a cyclist and I need those angles of me pedalling showing the entire bike, however I have tri bars so will have to play around with the angles.
My main worry is with the selfie stick hanging out the footage needs to be on quiet roads with less cars otherwise the stick will hit them and there goes the camera, resulting in a replacement!!
Definitely a valid concern You have to be carful with those side angles. I wouldn't recommend using it on a busy street. But definitely great for that kind of shot if you're trying to get an image of the entire bike.
The desktop calibrate function can help with stitching errors.
Thanks for the tips. Liking the ball arm mount I'm seeing on this and other videos. Time to spend money. 🤕
I'm a novice cyclist and in June cycled 200+ miles over 3 days. I only bought the X2 for this trip as I don't trust my GoPros. I had the camera out front the entire ride... 9 SD cards of footage! Nearly finished the edit for that. 🤭
First mount was bolted on the forks using the mudguard hole, selfie stick up and out in front of my face. A great angle, natural looking footage with the stitch line not at all visible but the wobbles destroyed the bolt before the end of day 1. A second magic arm would fix that if you don't mind it being in shot.
Second mount was on a smallrig mini clamp on the handlebar stem with a male to male 1/4" adapter into the bottom of the selfie stick. Minimal wobbles, 100% solid and the view followed where I steered. Not a flattering angle, all knees with a tiny body.
The ball mount is super handy, but i worry its part of the wobbles my footage gets ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I may try to double up on magic arms like you mentioned. Hopefully that'll steady the footage a bit!
Anyplace I can find your footage??
Thanks for trying to explain the technical point to us non camera old dudes. Most of these reviews have a very knowledgeable camera person spitting out camera specifications assuming that we know what they're talking about. Trying to decide on my first action camera to take on bike rides. Still torn between one of the insta cameras or a GoPro?
Amazing video, dude) you answer almost all my questions about this camera in 1 video)
Great video with good information love the dog photo. Many thanks.
I use a single gopro mounted on my selfie stick in from mounted over the handle bar to frame most of my body
New to your channel and loved the video! In addition to the Insta360 content it was fun to see my hood! I live in Silver Lake, am a road cyclist and have the Insta360. Liked and subscribed. 👍🏼
Cracking video matey. As a total newbie, I'd like to film some of my south London cycles but the roads are cramped so no way I could use a selfie stick as I'd batter every car lol. Have no idea what to use as the roads are bumpy too.
Good luck!
think u very much for this video u answer alot of my questions
Awesome content. I have borrowed this camera for my trip to Thailand next week. I also ride so have just ordered a small rig clamp and the clamp you have in the description. from amazon. I am doing an ATV experience while in Thailand. I use the GoPro 7 all the time. But the 360 X2 is another level! When i get back i will buy the Insta360 X3. I have been experimenting with the X2 and found the same as you. The desktop App which is updated now, is the best way to edit. You can also upscale to 4k Flat and 5.7k 360, Push the bit rate to the max for better quality and click remove grain. I have fallen in love with this camera 🤩
Forgot to say Congrats on KOM 😎
Thanks! Totally agree, the updated desktop app is a huge improvement. And w the next X3, it's be come my go to action cam.
Thank you for creating a video that answered all of my questions 👌🏻🍻
Glad to help!
That moment at 1:59 is hilarious.
Holy cow! Passing a car is trippy!
The distortion is crazy!
Thank you for the video, pretty explanation
This was such a great video, im team go pro but you already knew that 😜
Great info Mitch, well done! I've always had a GP, current model GP7 and have been considering the Insta360 camera. I look at the latest version, but decided if I already have my GP then why not just focus on the Insta360 One X2. I would use the camera mostly when cycling but the possibilities the camera provides beyond my GP7 would be great to have.
Nice video Mitch. I got the insta360 selfie stick and use it with GoPro Max camera. Better selfie stick than Max grip. For bags, I use Carradice Touring bag and saddle bags
Thanks for sharing!
I would have used a stronger pole, no need to have it that far out... also you can get an additional joint so you can get around the stitching problem
Thumbs up on the video. I love me some bikes and action cameras (own a GoPro Max). You got a new subscriber.
Thanks for sharing! I'm thinking of getting one myself.
Thanks for the review. I'm about to get one of those in the mail, and this review was very helpful. I'll stay away from the phone app. And I guess I'll have to find a fix for the bouncing, as I'll be using it for mountain biking.
I got the camera two weeks ago and I use a Sony X3000 for a number of years. Re-framing in post is great. I also have experimented with a number of angles.
I use a handlebar bag from Ortlieb: Ultimate Six Plus 8.5 L Handlebar Bag. The largest Version is only available in black. There is a camera insert available for this. It's waterproof and it acts as shoulder-bag for the camera when I do backpacking for a couple of weeks. Usually, I have a GH5, two or three lenses and the action cam in the bag.
Sounds like a great bag!
@@MitchBoyer Ortlieb is expensive but it is kind of the gold standard for bike-packing equipment in Germany. Bike-vacation is a pretty German thing, everything from a week at a river (Rhine, Danube, Elbe) up to longer trips criss-cross Europe is very common. In 2016 they counted 680.000 bike travelers at the Danube river bike way (D6) between Passau and Vienna. Gets a bit crowded there.
I wanted a 360° video... good review
2:20 Boiiiiiii 🤚👋🤚👋🤚👋
If I buy the extended stick will I have the need to buy smaller one too?
Can we use the extended selfie stick for the same cycle/bike shots? Or only smaller one is recommended?
Thanks for finally explain it to me. Do you soon see an option for bike apps to use this technology to make better/higher up recorded videos for example FulGaz so its possible to see the view instead of just the top of the road fences? I saw some 360 in Rouvy last year but it felt like not ready yet.
good information ... sticking with GoPro HeroMax; supposedly version 2 is in the works and to be released soon.
Great video man
Thank you for sharing all the details. I would love to buy this camera, but I need one that can look in the back and to the front and can get license plates in the dark, in case I have an accident. I am not going to share my rides, but just to have a camera for safety for my commuting.
Ah yeah, probably not the right camera for that job. Sounds like it might be worth looking into 2 cheap action cameras for the front and back of your bike ✌️
I carry my camera gear + drone in a backpack. Too many things to fit in my pockets. As for the 360° camera, I’ve relegated it to short action or transition shots. I found the weak resolution doesn’t show as much it you do things like dolly zooms, fast movements or panning. I usually keep the footage out of it full of movement and short. That way, the shortcomings aren’t so noticeable and I get a lot of flexibility.
Wow road like our state amazing
😜
Hey pal, really liked your chilled presenting style, gave you a sub. But when it comes to the shaking, I think you might have missed switching on the FlowState Stabilisation on Insta360 Studio?
Thanks for watching! Flow state is on in all of the footage. The primary issue is the wobble in the selfie stick. It definitely works much better on smoother roads, or when the selfie stick is not extended all the way out.
@@MitchBoyer true true anyway, great work pal
@@discoverkenya thanks dude!
Nice video! I was about to pull the trigger and get the One x2 for cycling etc, and will definetly get it after watching this!
The insta360 Go actually has much better image quality because it doesn't have such a huge sphere to spread around the pixels. Better in other ways too though.
Oh, I was thinking of getting a 360 camera too!
It's pretty fun!
You are only who talk about bad sides of one x2 thanks bro for the true
Thanks, gotta keep it real!
U need a second holde like a camera articulating arm to hold the stick. Did this with mtb in the woods and its stable
Thx for the video review. May I know what's the clamp used? I suppose a good and sturdy one matters to avoid dropping the cam.
Hi! I have a video up now with the details on the clamp and selfie stick I used (in the shorts section of my channel)
I use an Osprey Duro 1.5 for storage on long rides. all the pockets are handy, i have water available and it's comfortable to wear.
I'll check it out!
nerds rule. watched your whole video. very informative
What brand clamp did you use to mount the pole to the bike?
here ya go! czcams.com/video/dZK6k-NpDJ4/video.html
@@MitchBoyer thanks
I like your 360 camera
Great Video Mitch. did you check the X3? did you check the latest insta360 app? now you can export at 4k 60fps from the app.
What clamp do you use for your bike? I got the standard post mount from Insta360, which is kinda wobbly. I also have a K-edge mount thingy on the front which lets me put the garmin on top and camera underneath. I've got the Unicorn mount that I attach to that which sticks up at the front, but it's wobbly too. I'm thinking a more sturdy selfie stick + solid clamp will do a better job of keeping things stable. So yeah, curious what you used in this video and what you're using now?
I use the taisioner clamp and selfie stick (more details in this Short czcams.com/users/shortsdZK6k-NpDJ4). I also have a unicorn mount and k-edge mount on my new bike. Long story short, I haven't found a good way to completely get rid of the wobbles, so I just select the best-looking footage for the edit. I wish there were a better solution. Lemme know if you find one!
Just pulled the trigger on this camera... hope it works out!
Thanks for making the video and giving tips!
I use the Banjo Bros. Saddle bag ...it’s water proof and has lots of room ... solid bag.
HOw do you like yours..just got mine today..X2 that is...
@@kee7678 I love it! I don’t use it as much as I’d like because honestly filming my rides is the last thing I think about while training. But the moments I do think about it and happen to have all the things to attach it to my body or bike it’s fun making clips with! I will say the editing on the phone app is kinda cumbersome and getting frame rates bit rates to work with the storage space while trying to keep a decent quality is a little challenging just because I’m limited in way of storage and I live in the wilderness so power is also limited. But overall it’s a great cam so far!

Great video Mitch. Can you pass on a link for the bar/handlebar mount you used?? Thanks!!
Thanks! I think theres a link in the description of this video (the name of the mount is in thad video for sure) : czcams.com/users/shortsdZK6k-NpDJ4
Awesome shots! Now I want to go for a ride!
Go for it! 🎉
What if directly mounted to the center of the handle bar with no stick?
thanks for the nice review
First excellent Job. thank you for taking the time to give us excellent tips and how it really works in the field that is much appreciated, gopro is a killer in the hand but once we add t oteh bike there is a lot more then just setting up, and that takes a lot of time to find the best shots if asked. thanks again FISH
Nice review!!!
The view from the back is like my grandma on bike 😁
Cool videos
What accessories did you use to mount the camera? any way you can get the camera just behind the helmet, to cause it to look over your shoulder (sort of L shaped stick)? In that way you focus on the view than your back! A documenting video. A good thing is if it doubles up as bike computer to reduce electronic weight.
Here’s a short with the details on the mount: czcams.com/users/shortsdZK6k-NpDJ4?feature=share
There are helmet mounts (look up “unicorn mount”) that could probably do what you’re looking for. Good luck!
Now getting tips mitch for the angle mate 😊
Great review, super helpful.
I would love to try this but fixing a longer selfie stick in two points on the bike frame to reduce the wobble and cantilever effect. I think the GP max has higher res but is more expensive. Our roads in the UK are pretty bad as well.
Now the bike kit it sold out on insta 360 website... can it be bought elsewhere? they also got a motorbike kit, can that be used equally well to ones bicycle? thanks for getting back!
I use the motorcycle kit pretty often too. It works well!
