Totally agree about the Insta360. Best Bicycling vlogging camera out there. I love how you don’t have to worry about framing. Just set it & forget it. Infinite editing choices in post. My GoPro has been collecting dust ever since I got one.
thank you for posting this review, I was looking for it
Thanks for this review. Best one I've seen!
Because of this video I bought myself a 360 cam and start my cycling channel!! Thanks a lot Mitch!!
Glad I could help!!
I’d never heard of the insta360 until Friday. Ordered one Saturday. There’s no comparison with GoPro footage. Every problem with my GoPro 7 seems to be resolved with the x3.
GoPro lol
Exactly!!!
Great breakdown. Thanks a bunch Mitch.
Thanks for posting this. Insta360 sent me one of these to test out for cycling and I too think it’s great. Love the camera angle to the side: I will have to start using that one myself.
Thanks, Leonard! Love your channel, big fan over here!
@@MitchBoyer Thanks Mitch. I also forgot to say thanks also for the tip about editing the 360 footage on the desktop app rather than the mobile one. You’ve got a great channel too.
@jollygoodvelo @mitchboyer Can this camera attach directly to gopro mount under a bike computer? Looking to use it in races and keep it as discreet as possible? if so does that come straight from the box or do you need extra kit for it?
@@eddiewards123 The X3 has a quarter twenty screw mount so you would need an adaptor but, yes, in theory you could but my issue is how secure it would be.
Great review. Seems like everyone posted about this camera on the same day and all had great reviews. I came back here to click through the affiliate link since I saw yours first! Thanks, Mitch!
Thanks Matthew! Appreciate you dude 🙏
Great video bud. Congrats on the KOM with 750w+ effort for 30 secs is solid!! Three kicks and gooo🚲💨💪🏽..lol That rear camera view is amazing!!
Thanks, Chris! Your advice keeps paying dividends!
Thank you for commenting on how bumpy the KOM ride was and explaining why
Actually very good tips ! Thanks !
Awesome. Spent so much on my GoPro Max that I'm going to have to keep it for awhile longer, but Insta360 is really impressing me.
Thanks for watching! I was super impressed with how much they improved over the last generation. I cant wait to see what they do with the next one!
You are right
About built in microphone
I really liked what DJI did with pocket 2
I wish every action camera company take a note
I dont like the audio quallity of my dji pocket 2. Lots of hiss noises. I'm using a rode wireless go and it's way better.
@@arquivo225
At least I want something built in
I already have rode go
Great video! Have you tried mounting the camera to your helmet? If yes, how did it go? Was it to heavy/big? Thanks
Excellent review, thanks!
Wanted to know how the clamp holds going over bumps with the selfie stick extended? Will it shift position to the point you need to readjust? Thanks!
Pulled the trigger mitch thanks cant wait to get the x3 my 1st 360! Will be using it for cycling vlogs too 😊
Awesome! Excited to see what you make 🙌
@@MitchBoyer great work and content mate keep it up very inspiring and awesome PB’s too!! 🙏🙏🙏
"Mediocre Descents w/ Mitch" is the video to make! :) I definitely liked the audio with the external mic; much easier to understand and very clear audio no matter the environment.
Haha thanks Nik!
Hey which make u recommend for external Mike please help with make that is comparable with insta 360x3
The man! Great video bro
Appreciate you dude 🙏
thanks for the great tips!! one quick question tho.. if you install the mount on your rigjt handle bar, is it stable? just worries cuz i dont want it to fall and get destroyed 😅
Excellent video! I am thinking of starting a CZcams channel and this video really helped me out a lot. Thanks for the upload.
Glad to hear it helped!
Good day to you.
I am a senior rider on HONDA from Japan.
Enjoying touring ,camping and video uploading.
This is so nice 360 bike video
Awesome!!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Full supported !
Have a nice day my friend!!
Amazing video with Insta 360 X3, tranks for sharing, friend 😊
Hello !! Enjoyed much your video that answered many of my questions.....not able to post an image in this interface I would like to ask you for the brand of the clamp you show together with a s. stick and the X3, ( towards the end of your video) all laying on a grey surface......it really looks sturdy....thanks inn advance.
Great video, I have watch your videos many time. would I ask how to mount the camera with your saddle.?
Wow, excellent review. In my opinion, the motorcycle mount offers a better view than third-Person bike handlebar mount. I'll purchase the motorcycle mount. Thx 😀
I'm buying the X3 because of this video ❤
Curious why you recommend turning the sharpness down to LOW. Thanks for your review and suggestions. I'm learning how to use my new X3 and found your helpful video. 😁
Most likely because the camera will sharpen the footage by itself, which gives you a worse result than sharpening in post on your computer. Most camera’s don’t handle sharpening very well.
what accessories/mounting hardware are you using for your bar end mount and seatpost mount .. and the rods as well please :) ?
Any suggestions for a starting point to learning color grading? And great overview of the new X3. Looking forward to more vids!!!
Thanks for watching! I'm definitely still a beginner with color grading for video. I edit in DaVinci Resolve and watch a lot Casey Faris and Color Grading Central.
Hi Mitch, I advise you to use lens guards speaking from experience. And a metal cage if you ride bumpy tracks like I do with my gravelbike. Ik broke my X2 and scratched my One R :(
Thank you for this video
Hi Mitch, love your vids, keep it up!
I’ve been using the one x2 for quite a while and it’s been great mostly. Just one issue though, when you record in 360mode for a long time (30+ minutes) it splits the files into separate chunks, and you lose about a minute of footage between the files. Does the x3 still have the same problem?
Thanks!
Thanks dude! Yeah, it still splits them into chunks. I had the camera on for an 1:20 minute ride and it was split into 3 videos with a bit of a gap between them. Hopefully they do a firmware update in the future that fixes it.
What exact mount are you using to attach to the handlebar drops? Seems like there are several types out there, even in insta 360 site... And are you using the 114cm Selfie Stick? Would your recommend using that carbon stick from the other 3rd person bike mount?
I have to agree.. The insta360 X3 is the best used for cycling / scootering !
Thanks for sharing! SUBSCRIBED!
Hi Mitch great video and confirmed for me that I should buy the X3, which I have done. Just checking did you use the clamp from the motorcycle bundle to attach the camera and stick in the forward to the side position? Great work on the climb! Andrew
Would also be interested in the mount used
nice video, I want to ask how to show wahoo live segment in video, using what application? is there a totorial?
Great video👍 what do you use to mount the selfie stick on the handlebars and seatpost?
I have the same question. That handlebar mount looks really cool!
Awesome vid!!!😀
Glad you liked it!!
Hi Mitch, thanks for the great inputs. I see that you are using aero handlebars on your bike. How are you mounting the camera for secure gripping?
I use the Insta360 Third-Person Bike Tail Mount on my bars. They also have a handlebar specific mount
Hey Mitch hands down best insta360 review video quality looks amazing, question with your dji mic do you still use the dji storage device ad sync later or do you use the adaptor? it looks a bit clunky the adaptor attaching it to the 360. and can you sync the audio via the insta360 desktop afterwards? or is that a seperate program
I find myself syncing the audio afterward 90% of the time. I export the footage from the Insta360 desktop app and sync the footage and audio in DaVinci Resolve. The free version works perfectly, and syncs the footage with one click!
Great Video with lots of great info... What is the mount you used under your saddle/ seatpost? That is the angle that I am looking for but cant quite seem to get it
+1 on this question :)
Good video and good review, one question, do all the elements that hold the camera on the handlebar come in the bicycle kit? Thanks.
It’s the Insta360 motorcycle kit with selfie stick. Heavier than some of their bicycle mounts, but it’s super sturdy so I think it’s worth it. Thanks for watching!
did you ever try using the wireless bluetooth headset as a mic input?
Congrats on KOM.
Do you use the insta360 x3 lens protector? If so, what do you think?
What mount combo are you using at 1:20? Looks like it's fixed to your seatpost rails and then a gopro 2 prong adapter to 1/4" adapter, but how crazy ratcheted down must your tension be to keep it from dipping?
Good eye! It's the GoPro seat clamp, and the Insta360 1/4" adaptor that came in the "Insta360 Bike Kit." The adapter is plastic and soft, so it allows me to clamp down super hard and keep the selfie stick in place. I didn't have any issues with the stick dropping, but the effort was pretty short. It might droop if it was on there for an extended period of time.
Hello .. would love to know what stick and mount you are using with the up front perspective shot you are showing in your video. I just bought one of the cameras and it'll be here any day.
Thanks for sharing, great video. Can you please post a link to your chest mount? Thank you
added it to the description. thanks dude!
Btwn Insta360 Ace/Ace Pro & X3, which has the Better low/medium night light response/footage? Only light coming from street lights/car lights
you have a link for the bike computer, does this Insta 360 3x only connects to the Wahoo computer or can it connect to any other smart bike computer brand? I have the CATEYE AIRGPS computer.
Great video 🤠🤠🤠
what mount did you use to fix the selfie stick below the saddle. I did it with the motorcycle kit on the seat post and it ripped out the thread of the selfie stick.
What capacity SD card do you use? Do you use any lens protection?
Hi there. Thank you for all the information. Can you please tell me what was the attachment on the side of your handlebar that you used.
Hi, it’s the Motorcycle Mount kit with Selfie Stick from Insta360. Thanks for watching!
Do you recommend the sticky lens covers?
It seems you have managed to crop the silence, does the Insta360 App show an audio track to help you crop the silent moments? or did you have to watch all your footage to mark then crop?
You can do some editing in the Insta360 app, but I don’t know if it’ll automatically cut out the silent bit. I chopped it up in DaVinci Resolve, my normal editing app
@@MitchBoyer I was referring to croping the unframed video on insta apps, you cannot search your footage by looking at an audio track for speech waves,
How about the weight of the stick and the mounting device?
Hi Mitch,
Thanks for the Insta360 videos.
Quick question: May I ask what cell phone you used to first connect or pair the insta360 X3 camera? My Android Motorola G Pure G4 phone is not compatible with the insta360 app. Cant even install the app on my phone. Plus I don't have any friends that have any phones that work.
Thanks for the pros and cons on these cameras. I also watched your X2 video.
Take care
Hi Dathyr, I have an IPhone 13 Pro. I haven’t tried the android app, sorry.
Nice video bro.. Is that motorcycle U-Bolt Mount? thanks.
It’s the Insta360 motorcycle clamp mount ✌️
Mitch, how do you compare the X3 to the X2? I'm thinking about buying a new X2 or X3. Is it worth the extra €140?
0:33 What mount and stick did you use?
Hey Mitch what is the actual name of the attachment to the drops of your handlebar?. Is it the same attachment that you use to the seat post as well ( for the zwift POV)? I assume that you just use the invisible stick with that attachment correct?
It’s the Insta360 Motorcycle Mount with Selfie stick. That’s the name on the Insta360 website if I recall correctly.
How would you avoiod the shake? Do gopro cameras remove this shake?
Such a great review. Question I had is what are you using for the saddle mount? Can’t tell from the shots if that’s attached to the seat post or the saddle itself. Thanks!
I used a generic action cam saddle mount form Amazon. It wasn't great to be honest, and slipped a lot. Theres a new seat-post mount from Insta360 that works a lot better because it locks into place. I think its called "Insta360 Seat Post Mount with Selfie Stick"
Thanks!
Nice review, thanks. At 11:31 what is the clamp device at the left of the image? Do you have a link to that?
It’s the Insta360 Motorcycle Mount with Selfie Stick. I don’t have a link handy, but you can probably find it on Amazon or the Insta360 website ✌️
what kind of mount did you put on your seatpost?
Curious what settings your mic is on
Ok - what mount are you using the seat- I am about to make one and just before I head down that road .... of misery... I wanted to ask. Great video.
+1 on this question :)
good
I have qwestion !? Is true that any time you can see 360 degrees of your video when you film ?
thanks a million for sharing. can you spend some time, or a separate video about how to set it up. e.g. which selfie stick you bought, from where, & how to mount onto your handlebar/seat post. cannot tell from your links of accessories which long stick, or the bike mount you bought. you are more into showing the result of your filming rather than " what specific mounting hardware to buy & how to install on your handlebar or seat post."
Hi! Thanks for watching. I have a video for the Insta360 X2 on my channel that answers a lot of those questions. As for the specific mount, there’s a link in the description. Hope that helps ✌️
Do you worry about damaging the carbon bars by clamping?
Great video. Can it capture license plates clearly?? I am looking primarily for a safety camera for biking.
Did you pull the trigger on this for safety?
Mitch, I really like your videos! #authentic (as if that means much these days, but I'm 65yo, so I actually mean it). You mention a POV camera - I presume you don't use a 360deg camera for that (since it is wasting half the image.) What camera would you recommend for a chest POV video cam?
I appreciate that! The X3 has a single lens mode that works well (that’s what I use now), but if you want a dedicated single lens camera, I used to use my Insta360 GO2 for casual rides and the GoPro Hero 9 for rides where I wanted longer battery life. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching 🙌
How did you mount it under your saddle?
Liked the low light. No good for my cycle commute as I'll be wacking too many pedestrians with the selfi stick!🤣 Suppose I could mount the cam say 40cms vertically on my rear carrier to get enough footage around me? Umm, perhaps time to save the many pennies!👍🙂
What bike mount are you using?
Hey Mitch! What attachment is that mounted to the back of your saddle to the insta360 stick?
I had a generic action cam seat mount I bought off Amazon, but it didn't hold very well (the selfie stick pulled down over time). There's a dedicated seat post mount that I picked up later and it does a much better job. I think its literally called "Insta360 Seat Post Mount"
Great review! Thank u! I been using oneX2 for a year now and always find the low light footages not so nice. Btw how do you mount the DJI receiver securely to the x3? I am always worried the receiver will drop while cycling...
Thanks for watching! I got a quick release adaptor that screws into the top of the selfie stick and bottom of the X3 and mounted the DJI receiver on it. You can kinda see it if you pause the video at 8:27. I believe its called "Invisible Mic Cold Shoe (for RØDE Wireless GO)" On the Insta360 website. I was also afraid of dropping the receiver so i taped the back of it to the could shoe mount with gaffer tape.
@@MitchBoyer yes its the ulanzi pt-20 cold shoe for rode n i'm using it too. I use a black maskin tape to tape it to oneX2 for security. Good to know it wont drop off from your video :) i may try it out soon!
@@trishalim Good luck, yeah it felt a little flimsy so i taped it down a couple of times. Seemed to hold up!
@@MitchBoyer 💝 thank u 😊
How can you tell if you are in the shot when you mount it in front or behind you? Is there way to see the image on your phone before you start recording?
Because you can change the camera angle in post, you just kinda stick it in front of you and worry about camera angle later. (just make sure there's nothing between you and the camera to block the view 😅)
Im sorry, what type of saddle mount ?
“Mediocre Descents with Mitch”….would subscribe
Might need to be a recurring segment 😂
I really want to know.
How to put a insta360 x3 under your seat.
thx for sharing 😁😁😁
what mount did you use for the rails? it doesn't look like their "3D Bike" perspective one
It was a generic GoPro mount from Amazon, but it slipped a lot so I stopped using it. I use the 3rd person mount now and it’s heavier, but much more secure.
What are you using to held tihgt your camera? Ive never seen a mount like yours
It’s the Insta360 Motorcycle Mount. There’s a link in description of you wanna pick one up ✌️
One more question! Do the batteries from the one x2 work in the x3?
Thanks!
Unfortunately no, the batteries are not the same. The entire X3 is a bit thicker than the X2 and the battery is a bit bigger too.
May I get info about the microphone you use? sounds very loud and clear, I would like to have it
It's the DJI Mic
@@MitchBoyer thanks a lot brade
Could you provide me with a direct link to the purchase of the clamp that you attach to the lower part of the handlebar to which you attach the selfie stick?
where do you install the camera?
I was wondering how you attached the Insta360 to your handlebars? Is your fastener from the Insta360, or from a third party vendor? Please, advise. Thank you.
It's the Insta360 "Third-Person Bike Tail Mount". I put it on my drops since my carbon handlebars are flat and not round. They also sell a handlebar specific mount if you have round handle bars. Hope that helps!
Why place the sharpness down to low? Wouldn't you want it to be sharper? (i.e. better image quality)
The “sharpness” setting is basically extreme micro contrast added to the pixels after capture. Bumping up “sharpness in the camera will not result in any extra detail, but it does create the illusion of detail. You can always add sharpness in later, but once it’s there, it’s difficult to remove and is considered “destructive” to the image. Because of that, you always want to add sharpness at the very end of your image processing. Hope that helps!
@@MitchBoyer Thank you! Great channel!
What kind of mount is that?
buying the x3 based on your review! thank you! what selfie stick do you use often for your videos btw? the 70 or 114 one? id imagine you want them easily stored on your bag with 17 cm vs 23 cm folded respectively.
I was using the 70cm selfie stick, but now I’m using the stick that comes with the seat post mount. I’m. it sure of the size, but it’s much lighter.
@@MitchBoyer Please give a link to the seat post mount. I can't find it anywhere.
@@user-nu9sk1mp7s It's called the Motorcycle Mount with Selfie Stick. There's a link in the description for ya!
How's the rear mount for recording riding buddies behind you?
I haven't tired it yet--it's worth a shot!
Could you tell us with a direct link to the purchase of the clamp that you attach to the lower part of the handlebar to which you attach the selfie stick?
CZcams doesn't like links in the comments, but it's called the Insta360 Third-Person Bike Tail Mount.
What is the mount used that appears at 1:20, under the seat? Thanks
Same question here
Is there build in Gps or must used insta remote control thanks 🙏
I don’t believe there is GPS, but you should double check on their site :)
Is there build in gps in this cameras or must used insta remote control thanks 🙏
No GPS as far as I'm aware
