In this episode, Christian and Anna dive into the story of Tiffany & Co. stamped Rolex watches, and just what makes them so expensive and desirable. To start, let's first establish what a Tiffany Stamp is. In short, it all comes down to co-branding, in this case the retailer (Tiffany) stamps the dial with their name or logo of an existing watch. For Tiffany, they reached out to Rolex to sell watches, with the condition that they could put their names on the watches. This was originally printed on by Tiffany themselves, though eventually Rolex began doing this for them before the watches ever left the factory.
This relationship lasted from the 1950s to the 1990s, and now that it has ceased, so much value has been applied to the nine letter stamp on the dial, likely because of this relative rarity. With that kind of value and premium comes counterfeits, likely because the Tiffany stamp on the dial demands a several THOUSAND dollar premium, sometimes into the five digits. The other thing that stands out about these examples is the fact that, of the hundreds of Rolex variations and small details that make certain examples more collectible than others is the fact that Tiffany isn't a small detail - it's a company and a name that people, watch geeks or not, will recognize and be able to associate with luxury which, when coupled with the Rolex name, creates a powerhouse of brand power on a single watch. - Jak na to + styl
Personally, I think it's ridiculous to pay so much extra for a stamp that essentially only means it was at a certain location. My only exception to this would be if Omega would stamp lets say 100 special speedmasters with "to the moon", and then actually send them to the Moon and back.
Especially since they're relatively easy to fake and Tiffany kept no records of the watches that were stamped.
The Chinese are bringing back those Omegas back from the moon for resale.
Tiffany's stamp brings good vibes of old New York era
To the moon Alice!!!!Hahahahaaa!!!
Hans Lankamp for the collection.jus like a car collection, coin, sports, etc. a collector will buy what he wants
I think Tiffany & Co. stamped Rolexes are valuable pieces because of the story behind them, like a memory of time gone by.
Thanks for taking over my brunch, guys! 😄
Pretty cool watches
As a collector, the double-stamped dials are super cool IMO. There are so many ultra-nuanced details in the world of Rolex collectors...this is a detail that many can appreciate and that adds something fun and interesting to the dial.
Great job! Enjoyed the video. Thank you
Agree you guys are killing it. Keep it up. I can't get enough of you two!
Domino's has an interesting commanded Rolex watch that it gives to certain store owners for meeting certain sales numbers. The air max had a Domino's logo on the dial, and the current oyster perpetual has the domino's logo on the bracelet.
How do you go about verifying a Tiffany stamp?
Good informative video!
I recently found a 14kt gold Tiffany & Co. Bulova Accutron at an estate sale that was a gift from the President to the Governor of Hawaii. At first I was excited to find a 14kt gold Bulova Accutron but when I got home I noticed the Tiffany & Co. marking on the dial and figured it was a little more special and research the engraving on the back and it was given by President Lyndon B. Johnson to Jack A. Burns who was the Governor of Hawaii and was dated 1966
Jason Reed could you send me a picture please? Intagram @lawatchez. That’s is super cool!!
Well found!!
Great story ! Enjoy .
NICE!!!!!!! That is the year my mom was born!!!!! Have you trued to price it? Email
I haven't tried to price it yet. I really don't know where to start to research the price. I need to take it in and have it serviced since it was tucked away for many years and probably has its original battery still in it. It's a neat old watch and I talked to one of Lyndon Johnsons top Aides his name was Lloyd Hand and he said the President ordered many things from Tiffany but that he only gave out a few watches to people who were very close to him and not many were given away.
As a fellow female watch collector just wanted to say keep up the good work Anna!!!
In 1984 or 1985 I received a Rolex Submariner from Tiffany & Co in San Francisco. That was the first problem. Second problem was that their, "stamp," on the dial is crooked. Third problem was that it has always kept really terrible time. When I took it back, soon after purchasing, they would not help me get it serviced through them or repair their, "stamp." These are good examples why they are no longer allowed carry Rolex.
Still have it ?
A friend of mine has a co-branded lady datejust from Vail Resorts for her many years of service with the company. It is beyond cool with the Vail V logo on the dial.
Very interesting. I knew they're sought after for some collectors, but never bothered to find out why. Thanks for another great Rant T&H video. 😉.... @SolidWrist
It’s evening here going home from work and boy am I going to take off my 1601 and put on my 16710 after looking that that tiffany 😍
Tiffany Sub's are going for 2-3x over standard Sub's of the same era. $40-$45K in many cases.
I think that there has been some PanAm stamped GMTs back in the days. That is definitely the most valuable ones.
What I’ve learned about Rolex is that it’s a safe investment, they aren’t gona depreciate like a stone. But the ones that appreciate, are the rare/special ones, and a Tiffany dial is just honey for the bees
IMO the Serpico Y Laino double stamped rolexes catach my attention more than the tiffany ones
I was afraid several times, that they gonna hit each other with their flying hands.
Hi I’m not sure if anyone will read this but I just purchased a Rolex Tiffany time piece that seems to be circa 50-60 is there any way to authenticate it as original fake or other . Thanks in advance
I think the only word worth more than "Tiffany" on a Rolex is "Comex". But Tiffany is definitely a close second
Luciole Dizerot any diver would agree, I’m only scuba qualified and I want a Comex sub so bad lol
@@sammills2422 Hope you get one one day! Most badass thing ever would be to get it sealed and water-tested and dive with it (not recommendable I know but badass nonetheless)
Luciole Dizerot I think hodinkees diver expert had done that sort of thing with a vintage Tudor sub and it is most definitely badass 😁
Exactly
...not even close. Definitely Comex first, but I'd take a classy Cartier over a grubby Tiffany.
I' more interested in the Cartier dial Rolex watches ;)
I am the proud owner of a very rare Wal-Mart branded Vacheron Constantin and a Waste Management branded Panerai!🤪
NICE!!!!!!!! Send a pic!!
I have a 1960s Omega Seamaster in 18k. With Linen dial also marked Tiffany & Co. . Wonderful watch . Pure class . Like to see one in your shop eventually.
email!!!!!
I have a Tiffany Stamped Rolex.
How do I sell it ?
Around 1972.
27k for the gmt Tiffany and Co on Chrono currently.
Yo C and Anna great video and keep up the good work!!!!!
Thanks man!!!!! Always positive!!!
How much does Volvo Tags run for?
For the record, Rolex said buy to Tiffany.
What do you think about the new code 1159?
Only came here for Anna :)
Hi
When I worked for Nordstrom here in Seattle Tommy Bahama had a contest for selling the most Tommy Bahama shoes and the winner got a Rolex Submariner with the Tommy Bahama logo on it. The guy that won it wore it to work and I thought it was really neat.
How much is the rolex Tiffany watch?
In the low to mid 20's
Am I the only one waiting for a liquor run about the new AP code 11.59 watches lol?
Sam Mills we are gonna forget those exist
Good idea Sam, we will work on it!!!
Damn I love this channel so much 🔥
Thank you my friend!!!!! We do try very hard!!!
Theo and Harris it shows! You guys are killin' it!
I think a Tiffany & Co. stamp is worth it
Completely off topic, but is the Nomos Orion 33mm passable as a men's watch? I adore the new midnight blue edition and have 6,0" wrists, so the 38mm version is just a bit too large for me
Hans Lankamp - Christian wears a Cartier Tank and makes it look good. If the watch fits your style, it almost never matters what the size is (with exception to watches that are too large, those just look tacky).
I’m looking that up now I have small wrists so that could work nicely 👍
33mm for a Nomos should be fine as they tend to have quite long lugs. You could email to get the specifications. Cheers from a fellow spaghetti wrister.
I happen to agree with all!!! If it is your style you should wear it, that being said It is a good size!!!
👏👏👏
I guess its like miss printed stamps or miss pressed coins. exclusivity warrants z price.
Exactly!!! you got it !!
My favorite watch is a particular Patek stamped with Tiffany
How about a T&H stamped Rolex for the shop? 👍
Watch Collecting Strategy 😁😁😁
Hahahaaa !!! Could you imagine!!!
Just watch as Anna brings on the *girl power* 🤩
Do you guys kno if Rolex ever made gold capped watches with Hallmark Cards and their logo?
😮
I must admit that the more Anna feels confident on camera, the more I love her.
And I loved her very much since day 1.
Why is Christian always staring at Anna?
It just doesn’t make sense for Rolex to do this kind of thing anymore. Originally it benefited Rolex for Tiffany to carry their watches so Tiffany could make demands. For a while it was mutually beneficial, and towards the end Tiffany was benefiting more from the relationship until Rolex pulled the plug.
In terms of rarity and value, it makes sense that something like this would be worth more than a standard model. How much more is really up to the people who buy this sort of thing to decide, as they keep outbidding each other for the last remaining examples of something. But the popularity of these things can fluctuate as well. How much is a piece of paper worth because Babe Ruth of Abraham Lincoln signed it?
Very insightful words my friend!!!
talk about the omega reissue of the moon watch movement next video
Anna's hair is on point
@Club Soda just had been bullied at school?
I always kinda thought Tiffany provided the Sapphire Crystal or an aspect that differentiated the watch besides their name on the dial
9 little letters that mean so much to my world is... A.n.n.a.G.r.i.f.f. ummm thats nine. That's all I can do. 😍
Out of pocket but this is why I bought the J version of the skx
Christian, get Anna and the other guy on camera more often... you're cool as hell but the others are great too. I think Hodinkee could learn from you 😂 the 🐈 is out of the bag.
Thanks Steven!!!!! We try!
Personally i´d rather have a Hausmann & co stamped Patek.
To me that's a bit more special.
But nice to hear the story how these Tiffany Rolex came to the world.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks you Denis, you are always very supportive!!!
@@TheoandHarris Always a pleasure to watch the videos.
Would be cool if you made a video about your personal favourite of the new watches on SIHH.
I know its not vintage watches but i do believe you will have something to say about them.
Honestly, I don’t want any other brand on my watch other than the watch brand itself. You can keep the Tiffany Rolex.
That's cool!!!!
You forgot the Rolex submariner x supreme. Which is also more expensive than a tiffany & CO. They go for $50k
In 1-2 years everyone will want to forget supreme.
@@KENNETHCARNIE Regardless you can't deny that in its prime it was a cultural icon; secondly, are you telling me that you wouldn't want a no date sub that says "fuck em". Finally it doesn't matter what the brand means in the future it matters about what it means in the past, like nostalgia as many young entrepreneurs who make money in the future may have started their roots in reselling supreme when they were young; I for one did and it's why the watch will always be my grail as it reminds of my entrepreneurial spirit; and as watch geek how far i have come to own such an exclusive watch. To paraphrase I God damn want one when I have made money.
Listen I’m sure you guys get this all the time and are exhausted of it...but ya’ll are cute together. Time for a T&H wedding
Thanks Jed!!!!! Kind words!
Rolex is a strong enough brand distinction and I don't really care if Tiffany is on the dial. I find the Comex Rolex' much more interesting, as well as the various models made for militaries and governments.
I remember Anna. I wonder what the hell happened to her?!
Double market on an already inflated price? These collectors are out to lunch! Great video guys, appreciate the discourse.
I could never buy with all the premiums out there on these, could I ever purchase a Tiffany & Co dial without paperwork saying it’s Tiffany ! Just my 2 cents
I just don’t see what the big deal is over the Tiffany logo. I certainly wouldn’t pay a cent for it.
This is where vintage watch collecting goes into the realm of ridiculousness for me
If Supreme actually collaborated with Rolex, it will worth much more than the Tiffany & Co version.
Are they brother and sister?
Does a dominos stamp warrant a discount? No one wants those haha
LOL, I've seen them. Gwad awful looking things.
If I owned a Domino franchise YES would LOVE to own a Domino stamp Rolex
I think i have fallen for anna.
Can you please keep your hands still it's really annoying...
Barry island he needs to keep that watch wound!
