    Just a little tip to anyone else doing this workout and are of a bigger size such as myself.
    I've done this workout before, like a few months ago when I wanted to lose weight. And I did, 10kgs with is outstanding for me.
    But I did stop for some reason, and when I began to do the workout more easily too.
    Now, I'm getting back into exercise to lose weight, and I'm using this video.
    But keep in mind: do not push yourself past your limits just yet. For me, I do one set, the first ten minutes of the video, and that is it. I'm sweating afterwards and out of breath. For me, and I did get results this way, get used to the workout first. Even if it takes a moment for your body to be able to keep up. Ease yourself in. Don't feel like you're cheating and won't lose weight, because you will, you're still moving your body and exercising.
    I promise you, that once you can withstand the first half of the video, use the next month getting used to attempting doing the second half aswell.
    Easing yourself in does give results and you're able to see improvement too.
    Don't give up, I'm with you guys all the way. We can do this.

    WARNING: Do not let the term "overweight" in the title fool you. Unless u are advanced this is very challenging. I found myself sweating midway thru. If u feel u cant complete a workout just do what YOU can do not over exert yourself. If she does 30 squats and and u can only do 3 just do it. I struggled but i didnt give up! Keep Going!

    It's an effective workout, absolutely, but one thing that fitness gurus often forget or can't relate to, is that an overweight person has major difficulty doing some of those movements. For instance, bringing your knees up/crunch. There's usually a belly in the way that makes it tough to lift a knee, but what's even worse are exercises that require you to crawl on all fours with all your weight focused on your wrists. It's painful and sometimes almost impossible, which often results in the overweight person wanting to give up because they can't physically do it. Luckily, there are standing exercises as well that burn fat and are easier on the joints.

      @jhogilyngo4243 Před 5 lety +36

      For all of you worried about exercising in front of family because you're worried about remarks that you're finally doing something, my advice is to just flaunt it. I'd go right in front of them, shake my booty in their face as i squat and smile and tell them that you are doing something because you're amazing, you look fabulous (even if you're a hot mess) and you should own it. If they make you feel bad for exercising then tell them to join you and show you what it's like then because chances are they can't do the exercise very well at the start either. Good luck to you all- I hope this helped. Lots of love xx

      I wish you all the success. If Keto doesn't work, you could try intermediate fasting with it. I ate only fruits, vegetables along with intermediate fasting to get my weight off faster for a while, but I like meat too much to give up for good so I only do fruits and vegetables when I want to lose some weight. I'm down from 280 to 136. I have three more pounds then I'm done with weight loss. I'm taking my time getting those few pounds off because I'm more concern about maintaining my weigh during the holidays. Anyways good luck. I'm praying for you. I know it's hard, but it really can be done. Sometimes those plateaus make you want to give up, but they always past if you keep trying.

      @Dudebro123 Před 6 lety +1

      waheeda aman One thing you can do is get a pair of really good running shoes! Even if they’re expensive, they’re worth it. The next, is start light. If you just jump in head first and start trying to run a mile when it’s hard to walk up a flight of stairs (like I did when I started), you just get discouraged. Start small. I started little things, like changing my diet. Walking as much as possible, parking farther away from stores, taking my dog on longer walks, maybe doing a couple of minutes of jogging, just to get my body used to moving. Then, I started to progress to more strenuous stuff, but you want to start with small, rewarding things so that you can feel good about what you’re doing, not get discouraged. Another thing you can do is to start out with weight training. It helps build more muscle, you’ll have an easier time supporting yourself. Also, it boosts your metabolism. Remember, gradual is good because you want to make a life style change that you will continue even after you’ve lose x amount of weight. Hope you’re doing well!

    This is what happens when a thinner person does exercises that they think an "overweight" person should be able to do..
    However I will give you an A for effort. I started off looking for "plus sized fitness workouts" where real heavy people are doing cardio and that helped me because they knew the limits..

    I am at least 50 pounds overweight and can’t even go up the stairs without struggling. Everyone on here who is complaining, she says do it at your own pace. the point is to do it and be consistent. Nothing in the beginning is easy. Losing weight is a challenge. When it got too much I paused and focused on form not repetitions. Helpful hint watch the video in its entirety first, only do 10 reps of the exercise. I appreciate that she posted this. It’s doable for anyone that is willing.

    • @bethhunter1756
      @bethhunter1756 Před 3 lety +4

      Realistically we're all so different that a 150kg person is going to burn more calories than a 60kg person anyway so, it's really just a roundabout number

    • @JudgeBreddUK
      @JudgeBreddUK Před 3 lety

      It's because burning calories is generally a pain to figure out. The best way to burn calories is eating less, exercise just helps you out a bit.

    • @bethhunter1756
      @bethhunter1756 Před 3 lety +2

      @@JudgeBreddUK That doesn't even make sense, you don't burn ANY calories by eating less. You just have less coming in so the calories your body burns during the day will be in excess and you lose weight. Exercise helps out a LOT in burning calories, people fail because they typically get hungry and eat more though after it. But if you want to burn more calories you need to exercise, but you can't guarantee how much each person burns because we all weigh differently and push differently, which was the whole discussion in this comment thread.

    Okay, I did this workout yesterday. I felt ridiculous because sh'es so graceful even excercising and I felt like a heavy bag, hardly lifting my own weight, but at the end of the routine I felt better! And my thigh muscles hurt in a good way, so all I want to say is that it's worth a try! No matter if you feel dumb for not doing it gracefully, just do it and you'll be happy afterwards. Joanna, thank you so much for sharing this routine, it's perfect for people super out of shape: not too hard, but also not too easy, so we're really feeling the workout, even at our super true beginner level. Thank you, thank you!! ♥

    Two years or so ago I did this workout for some time on a regular basis and made some progress and lost some weight in combination with eating better. In general it helped me get fitter. But after almost half a year of barely working out i gained a lot of weight back and of course lost some strength and stamina. I will try this again now! My plan is to stick with this workout for a month. Following her advise I will do this three times a week and three times a week some cardio, which for me right now is jogging (I am following a beginners running plan with the goal of running an entire hour). If I manage to stick to this I will update here. Was able to finish the workout. The first set though I did the plank on my toes but collapsed half way through and had to push myself up again. Second set I did the plank on my knees, which I managed but I really struggled. Ugh. Hope this will improve! Btw. my current weight is 107.0kg

    I'm 55 and was 320+ lbs. In my 40s I lost about 70lbs down to my normal adult weight of 250. At 50 with diabetes out of control, I took control. At 53 I hit 147lbs! However, it was too low. I looked horrible! I gained 5 lb up to 153 and have to say, for the first time in my adult life I looked perfect. Of course, that was in clothes LOL I officially have the ugliest naked body in the history of the world! I sort of look like a melted candle from my chest to my knees. Anyway, over the last 2 years the white has creep back up to 166 lb. I have got to get back down to that 153 mark before summer. However, I am really struggling because if I eat more than a thousand calories I gain weight. The year I lost the rest of my weight, about 60 pounds, I was only eating 5 to 700 calories a day. I ended up paying a pretty high price, because I lost half of my hair. I honestly thought what I was doing was enough protein, but evidently it wasn't. I did not incorporate any exercise, mostly because I have advanced ankylosing spondylitis, which is an autoimmune, systemic, arthritis that attacks your spinal column and your SI joints. I was misdiagnosed for almost 30 years and by the time I got a correct diagnosis my body was pretty damaged. Both my SI joints have fused because of the years of inflammation, your body grows new bone to heal. After my SI joints the disease moved to my neck and worked its way down to T12. Right now I am fused and hyperkyphotic (bent forward like quasimodo). I have tons of new bone growth, which is very brittle and easy to break because it's not stable bone. Because of the severe curve in my upper back the inside parts of my vertebrae are crushed with thousands of tiny stress fractures. I have to be extremely careful in what exercises I do or just day-to-day activities. A break in any of those phones could be devastating. My doctor wouldn't allow me to walk on a treadmill, ride a bike, or use most gym equipment that there would be a risk of falling. I did buy a recumbent bike, and it has set in the box since 2003 in my living room! I cannot put it together myself, and haven't had anyone to help me with it. I could get out and walk, but I can't walk very long without my low back beginning to hurt really badly. So to get out for a walk, it's kind of hard because I need to stay close enough that I can get back home. If I'm able to sit for just a few seconds even, I can get up and walk again. I thought about buying one of those canes that have a seat lol however, the more I look at HIIT and some of the videos on CZcams, it looks like this could be a great alternative for someone like me. I am not impaired from the waist down as far as movement except for the SI joints being fused. The only type of movement they restrict is a rotational type movement. It's really hard to explain, and this is a little TMI, but if you were at the gynecologist for a pap smear you have to rotate your hips when you spread your legs for the exam. That's the type of movement that is no longer present once your SI joints fuse or you have them surgically fused. I don't foresee any of that kind of movement in these exercises LOL so I have committed to do 10 minutes a day 7 days a week for now because I am so physically unfit, and just stopped smoking last week! Here's to a healthier 2018 for me, and anyone who reads this comment! May your life be fully blessed and enriched!

    This is now the third week that I am doing this workout. So far I haven't missed it once but I definitely have to say on some days so far I had to force myself (I think it's also because of course doing the same workout everyother day is pretty repetitive). I somehow also feel like it's easier for me on some days then on others. Even though before doing it the first time I thought hey it looks easy but after actually having done it the first time I was sweating like crazy and the next day I my muscles wee really sore (well I haven't done any workouts before). All in all I can say it has already gotten a bit easier, especially the kneel to squat one. And today for the first time I forced myself to do the actual plank and not the knee version, I had to pause for a few sec after about 20sec. I will do it for three more weeks and I will manage to hold the real plank for the whole minute! Tschaka!

      The way I usually start for a workout is that I do baby steps. slowly but surely type of thing.
      what you should do is commit to cutting back on how ever much food you normally eat and working out at least 10-15mins a day
      once you get past the first week, because you will, add 5mins and commit to that for another 2 weeks. Then add another 5 mins until you get to 30 mins a day. Stay there for a while, build a comfort zone with it and then when YOU feel ready, amp it up by going on light 5-10 jogs included with your routine. It sounds like a lot but some people do really well with this approach. You don't want to try to take on to much at once because it's much more discouraging if you feel like you can't get through it. Trust me, I used to weigh 250lbs and I am now 163lbs. My end goal is 140-145lbs before my birthday which is July 31st. I know you can do it. BTW I also started using an app called Fitness Pals. It has been awesome so far and if you want you should add me on there: Sweet_Solitude

    Hey Joanna 🙋‍♀️
    I was very pleased to see this video. I have been searching for a starting the for Moberly obese women. I used to be very fit until my early 30s when I was diagnose with kidney failure. I have battled many medical issues in the past 20 years. A lot of them have limit by mobility. By the grace of God I'm still improving in my help, but I do need to lose 116 pounds. I'm 5'10'' in height. Because of my height it doesn't appear, that I'm that heavy. The doctor said because of my height, I cared wait well, but I need to lose it!!!
    I haven't exercised in 20 years , I feel lost with no direction. This video is a great starting point for me. Thanks you so very much 🙌. I'll keep watching.

    • @Droosmom1970
      @Droosmom1970 Před 6 lety +41

      andromidius just do as much as you can dont think that just because its a beginner workout you should be able to do it. I mean have you seen one fat person doing these so called beginner workouts? Me neither. So dont expect yourself to be at the level these people are look how fit they are. I started with walking and slowly increased my pace until i can run a little bit (for a very short little bit but still running). Ive lost 30 lbs just from doing that and eating healthy. I just now after three or four months feel like im ready to try some of these beginner workouts

      I am watching this, as someone with some moderate workout/fitness experience, and am SHOCKED she claims this is for overweight beginners. I don't think she has a real grasp on the physical struggles of folks who are overweight and out of shape, as this is easy for her. I know everyone is at a different starting place, but I fear this one will discourage, not encourage, many overweight beginners. Look up a channel called 'Fitness Blender' for workouts appropriate for those who find this one too challenging as a starting point. They have TONS of workouts for all levels, including folks who can't handle this one yet. There's nothing wrong with this workout in the least, it looks like a thorough workout, but I imagine it's WAY TOO MUCH for true beginners who carry too much weight.

    • @Juichi
      @Juichi Před 6 lety +5

      I was thinking the same thing. I think some of these are definitely good, but others won't be as easy. It's a lot of impact on your knees..which isn't helpful for someone that is overweight. I know it's frustrating because there's not many good videos on working out when you're bigger and need it the most.

    • @babyb7001
      @babyb7001 Před 6 lety +13

      andromidius i agree . I'm 20-30kg overweight and have been working out the last 4 weeks .3km everyday and strength training and I still found this a little challenging. She obviously cant relate or understand that especially when your obese, really gentle work outs like walking etc are the best way to start.

    This is the only video that i have found works best for me. I have lost so much weight because of this, i did this for a year and 1 day i went to my aunty's house she told me i have lost a lot of weight. Cheer up everyone being overweight is not as bad as being obese, also if you are overweight or obese then don't worry because for fatter people even the slighest forms of exercise can burn so much calories because they have a higher fat breakdown. This is harder for lean and trained atheletes as they have a lower fat breakdown. But remember no matter how hard it is you can do it.

      Subliminals can burn fat without you doing anything!
      Search up "Lose fat subliminal" or "lose weight subliminal"
      It sends signals to your brain through listening to it (Earbuds/Headphones)
      It works, it depends on how much you believe, and on how much you believe is how much weight you'll lose.
      Staying healthy and eating healthy will make the process quicker. Try to do small things with your legs. For instance, try walking outside while listening to the subliminal. While you take a walk and listen to the subliminal, eat a small snack like a banana or drink tons of water. Subliminals will burn fat quickly and will need some sort of food/drink to keep you in health
      You could even listen to it during your sleep. Just drink tons of water before sleeping or napping. If you don't drink water, you'll feel bad in the morning. You can do a Subliminal to become healthy if that's what you want as well.
      That's about it! Hope my tips could help you!
