Scoobynatural worked because the Supernatural characters knew better than to make everything super edgy and violent and were okay with being cameo characters.
"Velma" ironically matches almost verbatim the Robot Chicken sketch where they replace Daphne with...someone. The edginess, the overly-smart characters, the lesbian make-out session, its all there. But that was a one-off parody, this is unfortunally real.

I miss Scooby Doo because it was only about solving mysteries by a group of highschoolers who in real life they wouldn't work together. I loved it because the jock wasn't a douc#ebag, the pretty girl wasn't a mean, actively hostyle b¡tch, the nerdy girl wasn't laughed at and was valued by what she had to contribute with. And because it was aimed at kids, the sexuality of the characters was so secondary you could spend your whole childhood watching it without knowing/caring about it.
Plus Shaggy and Scooby, they were adorable. I miss old fashioned children tv shows.

I know the show had a lot of hype early on, but I'm not sure it ever really had the numbers to match. And those numbers only ever went down. I genuinely don’t get how HBO released the pilot of the Last of Us and Velma in the same time frame.
One has enormous potential and the other is one I hope will be cancelled soon. (Yes I know they renewed it for some reason.)
