    I have a 2019 Power Wagon. I am an off roader, but not in the true sense. As a rancher in Montana, you have to have a vehicle that can tow and have the capability to do that over any kind of terrain. This truck can haul 10,000 lbs across just about any terrain. When you put it in 4 low and lock the front and rear axles, you’re basically towing with a tractor. It’s never let me down. I like the Rebel for the greater payload and towing. Based on my experience with the Power Wagon, I will probably get the Rebel and have the best of both worlds.

    All the new electronics are cool but eventually (unlike older vehicles) they will break or just plain wear out. Some of them will make it an expensive paper weight 25 or 30 years down the road. This is across the whole industry. I still think less is more. Pretty sure Steve’s dad would agree.

      A lot of this stuff has been out for a decade or more now, it's just updated. Sure there are fancy new things but overall there has been lots of time to hash out issues. Most of what you hear wearing out is the normal stuff, shocks, struts, bearings etc. The electronics that don't get much abuse lasts a long time. Obviously things go south but overall it's not like the tech from 10 years ago or more when a lot of this stuff was new.
      I have a friend who works as a tech with Ram and used to work on Ford's and has been a tech for close to 37 years, he says the same thing. Most of the vehicles come in for the normal wear and rear parts needing replacement/repair. It just seems like today's vehicles aren't lasting as long because, one there are way more on the road today, two social media help spread bs lol, three people think mass production is crap when In fact those machines make far less errors than hand built machines, it just seems the opposite because of the higher volume.

    • @fritty9927

      @@UvidCo that’s for now. How many computers you owned for 20 years, how long was it before you couldn’t update it. Or your last couple phones? There is also the chip shortage. You think a shortage of chips would or a couple going out would effect a 68 Chevy? I guess time will tell.

    • @UvidCo
      @UvidCo Před rokem +1

      @@fritty9927 The rate at which vehicle tech need updates is probably 1% as to computers and especially phones. As I said the tech in vehicles have for the most part been around for a decade or longer.
      Just look at backup cameras, backup sensors, tire pressure sensors etc they've been around a long time now.
      The tech within them justs changes but overall it's similar. But as you said, time will tell.

I agree with tall mirror advantage. Kinda like the previous model dashboard set up 🤩 it fits the Power wagon 🤓😂 heavy duty look... I need a daily driver, tows for 5-10 trips a year, hauls occasionally in the bed and has decent offroad demeanor for our remote camping trip. I think the rebel is overkill for my offroad, but my real deilema in a few years when Im ready to upgrade to a 2500 from a 1500 is diesel vs gas. Diesel is my preference for towing, but I worry about the issues with short trips and the emissions equipment having issues.

  • @jesusm8402
    @jesusm8402 Před rokem +6

    I said this on another channel.. This truck was a half a** attempt to give people what they wanted. All the trucks will be getting the electronics updates too. What I'm bothered with, is the sheer ignorance on the specific requests from customers. What were those requests? More towing capacity, bigger tires, keepig the disconnecting sway bar, and a damn winch. All you are getting is less towing with a diesel, no disconnecting sway bar, still no winch because they didn't listen, and waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy less towing capacity and payload. I'm not even going into the the stupid 20" wheels. They literally warlocked the new 2500 for some extra money. Maybe I'm missing a lot on the suspension and stuff but damn, couldn't you just get a new base model with the off road package if you wanted a locking rear diff?

    • @jesusm8402
      @jesusm8402 Před rokem +1

      To preface that, I know that they couldn't put a winch there because of the intercooler. If that was the case then why even attempt to make this truck at all. It just seems like Ram wanted to make more money by rebadging a truck that has less capability but covering it up with new tech. I own a RAM and I'm disappointed with them for this.

    I will admit to being extremely sceptical about the reliability of American vehicles in general, and any fiat-Dodge-Stellantis product in particular, and yet, in complete contradiction, a Cummins Ram has always been my Canada-available dream truck. Nevertheless, the frequency of failure on pickups (breakdown and recalls) in general seems completely insane to me. There was a time when the trade-off was that they were affordable and fixable by almost anyone. Now they are impossibly expensive, impossibly complex. A Landcruiser costs as much as a house, but will also last as long as a house. Not high tech, high quality. A vehicle to drive where a breakdown will kill you, like the Outback, where those things make up 90% of the vehicles. The weird thing is, a breakdown in the Canadian winter can kill you just as dead. Sorry for the rambling. Maybe it's just truck envy. Cheers.

    That two inch lift on the PW really gives it a nice look though. I think Ram should do a PW "appearance" package on the HD's. Keep the normal 2500 payload, but keep the look. A normal truck still has plenty of off-road worthiness for the typical buyer who is spending $70k plus for a new truck, meaning they really are not off-roading it too much. Then you could have your diesel, a much more useable payload and the rugged look, which I think is the real reason these niche trucks sell.

    I’m a bit confused as to why the specs are so much lower on the Rebel HD than they are on the regular 2500. I understand that the extra equipment adds weight, but you have to understand that the 1500 Rebel’s capabilities are almost identical to the other 1500s. I also don’t understand why the diesel has such low payload compared to the gas. I know that a diesel engine weighs more than a gasoline engine, but 1400 pounds lower? There’s no way the motor and transmissions weigh that much more than the gasser. And why is the towing capacity lower on the diesel? If anything, it should be quite a bit higher than the gasser.

    Gasser has okay numbers. Diesel payload is just sad...less than my F150 and I don't even have max payload.

    I love the channel however i do not agree that power wagon owners were and are begging for a diesel. That was just troll haters hating on the off road capable power wagon. Diesel makes trucks less off road capable NOT more. Those who know know. My P.W. is a 2015 AEV. My dream truck since 1977. Tows my 25' toy hauler off road. Only time i would buy a diesel is if i wanted a very big R.V. and most camp grounds have size limits. The thing about diesel was the cheap fuel cost. Not any more. P.S. Before Jeep in 1941 and WW2 Dodge was making H.D. 4x4 trucks for the U.S. Army since 1934. Before that 1916 Dodge car. Later supplying other countries army's with 4x4 full size trucks. Chrysler supplied all full size trucks Ford and G.M. not just Dodge trucks with transfer cases making those brands 4x4. Chrysler owned New Process gear. Which also can be found in jeeps.

    Fancy mirror and guava cluster-junk!!! Can’t we get a 4x4 that looks nice like a tremor? Looks cheap

    I've entertained the idea of buying a Ram truck because of its interior. But my neighbor's 2022 Ram 1500 V8has had so many issues with just 25k mi and its making his life miserable. I guess people who like drama in their life would make this Ram truck a perfect fit. I don't like drama so I'll be avoiding this truck much like avoiding my ex gf.

    I dont think it looks good. The grill is ugly and looks cheap.
    But, having a diesel and a great 4wd package, its great for pulling and Overland Trailer.

      Steve, just watch The Getty Adventures on CZcams and he hauls 2,600 lbs and tows 12,000 and the Power Wagon handled it with ease!! I've hauled 3,200 lbs of firewood with my Power Wagon but I also have load F tires and a Carli Suspension with coil springs that are rated for the Cummins!! So it can and has been done!!

    I don't really get this truck. You can get a Power Wagon for cheaper. And a Tradesman is a better truck for working and exponentially cheaper. It seems like a gimmick for people that want to look like a Power Wagon on the outside but want the interior of Laramie

      Cummins is terrible and unnecessary for off-roading for several reasons.

    It’s hard to believe the gas engine has a higher towing capacity than the diesel.

    • @1gr8oil
      @1gr8oil Před rokem

      R HOOD...................It's because the Diesel option weighs more, therefore the towing and payload is much less!
