    Salisbury steak is a great comfort food. It’s basically the same thing as meatloaf or Swedish meatballs, just with a different sauce. Seasoned ground beef with breadcrumbs and cooked in a skillet or baked. All of them are great.

    Thank you, first. I’ve tried making my mom’s meatloaf a few times, never came close to getting it right. Never attempted her “Salisbury Plain” steak with mushroom gravy and mashed potatoes.
    Your recipe and unbelievably good instructions turned out great! Only thing I did different was using two pounds of 80/20 ground beef and making 6 patties, which by the time I was done turned into 6 mini meatloaf’s. No complaints from the family. Thanks again.

    This came out really good. Although I did not grate the onions and added too much panko, the recipe came out great anyway. I didn't have any ground chuck so I used regular hamburger meat. I did add A1 to the broth mix and some dijon, ketchup and mustard to the meat mix, this came out fantastic. So good.

    I bought a pound of cube steak. Soaked it in vinegar and oil. Floured it. Friend it in an electric skillet until brown on both sides with some olive oil and fresh mushrooms sliced thin. I had made about 2.5 cups of a brown gravy with base, garlic, onion, kitchen bouquet, and some corn starch. I made the gravy slightly thinner than you would want it. I then poured the gravy over the steaks and put the lid on and turned the heat down to just below 225 deg and cooked about 20 minutes and then flipped the steaks and cooked it another 15 minutes on 200. I shut the pan off and left the lid on while I baked a pretty nice russet potato in the microwave. I wash the potato and cut into it several spots and then wrap it loosely with some wet Saran wrap. That will keep the potato from getting rubbery and dry. There's no leftovers. It's just before 10p and I would really like another potato but I'm going to try to take a nap instead. I could buy a pound of ground chuck for $5.29/# OR I could buy a pound of cube steak same price. I picked the obvious choice. They were fork tender. I really intended to have leftovers but that's not how it worked out. I've had lunch meat for days and it'll probably be chicken lunch meat for a few days again.

    • @Darthbelal
      @Darthbelal Před 2 lety +1

      High heat. Mushrooms and onions have a ton of moisture in them. So what you'll do is keep stirring things about until the moisture evaporates and the mushrooms/onions saute and brown. Then go with the rest of the cook.
      Chef John from "Food Wishes" does a version of Salisbury steak and delves into the technique I described. I prefer the ingredients used on this channel but I go with Chef John's TECHNIQUE of making Salisbury steak. Hope this helps....
