  • An introduction and instructions for a great add-on, called Rigacar by DigiCreatures.
    Here's the link

    Highly recommended if you need to rig and animate a car.
    Not for complicated car animations like if you want to have the exhaust pipe vibrating, pistons moving up and down, axels spinning, etc. But it gets the job done.

    i tried click for click to replicate what is in this video and when i get to adding the armature, only the body object is included in the car rig. everything is named right, i have 9 pieces, i select all but only the body shows up.

      @pmdesigns5798  Před rokem

      Try generating it again. It seems a bit hit or miss. Sometimes works sometimes doesn't. If your wheels are not getting attached to the rig, check if all transforms have been applied and origins are set to the right place.

      ran into the same problem today... have rigged several cars with "rig a car" before with no issue but now all of a sudden only the body bone gets created and the wheels are left alone. I don´t see anyting different from the cars I´ve rigged before. did you figure out how to solve this? thanks

  • @franciscomartinezzea8531

    Hi there. if its any use to you, the way I place the body's origin point is by clicking on all four wheels, then shift s, curso to selected, then click on the bodiy, object, set origin, origin to 3d cursor. tell me if you find that suitable...

    Thanks, brother. However, The wheels turn just fine in the Y axis, but if I need the vehicle to make a right and move along the X axis the wheels stop turning.

    • @pmdesigns5798
      @pmdesigns5798  Před 8 měsíci

      Just checked and I found the solution. It's a little difficult to explain, but I'll try.
      Select your rig and enable bone layer 14.
      Select one of the MCH wheel bones and find the list of bone constraints.
      Find the one labeled "Wheel rotation along Y axis".
      Duplicate this constraint and rename it "...X axis"
      Go down to the "map from" section and add in 1.57 in the min X and -1.57 in the max X.
      Go to "map to" and change any "Y" into an "X". Rinse and repeat for all wheel mch bones (or just select all mch wheel bones and "copy to selected")
      Let me know if that works. If it's difficult to follow my written explanation, I'll make a quick video for you.

      Wow, above and beyond response. Thank you so much, brother Pete (my name is Peter also, don't tell Google, Google thinks I am Charlie) Yep, that was difficult to follow, but don't make a video unless this opens the rig up to wheels following in different directs without having to go back each time and change out the axis coordinates. I came across another video where they made the car follow a predetermined path constraint and it looked like that worked as long as you baked it in. But, it was so good of you to respond- that's what Pete's are like- we go the whole way brother. Don't make a vid unless your solution will allow multi axis. Multi axis would be really helpful. And it makes you wonder why they did not implement that in development. It would have been my first question. Thanks again, Peter. @@pmdesigns5798

      Hey there. I found the real solution, this time. Just after sending that long message, I went out, and I was thinking, "Why did I have to enter a positive number into the "Min" field?" Then I realised that I had turned the car left. So that would make the wheel spin backwards if I turned the car right. So that's a problem. So we could have three constraints - 1 for forwards, 1 for left, and 1 for right, and then keyframe the influence of each one, but that's BS. So, I've just got home and had another look. It seems that Rigacar is designed to solely work with the "Follow Path" constraint. If you do that, it works in all directions.
      Just in case you don't know how to do that:
      Make a curve which represents the path you want the car to take.
      Select the car rig. Go into pose mode and select the root bone.
      Find the bone constraints tab on the right.
      Add a "Follow path" constraint to the root bone, selecting your curve as the target.
      If your rig suddenly pops to the end of the curve (the wrong end), select the curve, go into edit mode, right click and choose "switch direction". Your rig should now jump back to the other end of the curve.
      This is automatically animated, i.e. not keyframed, so if you want to adjust the speed and or starting/end keyframe, you will need to do that via the graph editor.
      Hope that helps!

    Hi,
    Is there an option I can speed up the wheel rotation?
    I want it to go 150 frames at normal speed and then 200 frames speed up very fast!
    Is that possible?

    • @pmdesigns5798
      @pmdesigns5798  Před rokem

      Hi. Good question. I didn't make the add-on, but I would guess that you'd need to edit the drivers for each of the wheel bones. I'm not at my computer now, so can't check, but I will check soon and get back to you.

    I’m fairly new to blender and I’m having a lot of trouble with animating steering and wheel rotation. I have gone into pose mode and clicked on rig:root and added the follow path constraint, which all works like it should. But for some reason the steering and wheel baking is just not working and it keeps deleting the key frame I added for the follow paths animation. I have set the wheels on y axis to 0 which didn’t fix the problem also. And I named each car part correctly.
    Any help would be appreciated, I’ve looked at multiple other posts and yet to find a solution.
