This is the twenty-third lesson in a series of lessons using the Hal Leonard Guitar Method Book 1 as our primary source of instruction. This lesson focuses on page 27 and teaches two new songs including "Shenandoah" and "Spy Riff". The lesson includes examples of melody and chords as well as tutorials for each song. The lesson also introduces the concept of key signatures and the key of G major.
This series is not intended to replace the Hal Leonard Guitar method, but to act as a supplement to it. You will need a copy of the book to be successful using this series. I've included an Amazon link to the book below.

Nick, I don’t know if I should be staying on each piece until I can play it at 120 bpm?

The idea behind the two tempos is to give an example of a slower tempo and a faster tempo. 120 tends to work well for alot of the exercises in these early books. It's not necessarily a magic tempo that all songs should be played at, the concept is that you start slow and build to a comfortable faster tempo on each exercise. If you only make to 112 or 100 on some exercises it's totally ok as long as you feel like you've worked the tempo to a place that works with the song and you're feeling comfortable playing at that tempo.
