0:00 Intro
0:05 1999 Ford Crown Victoria. The customer's brother apparently cut open the catalytic converters to gut them out and this is how he "patched" the holes. The technician said it surprisingly had an exhaust leak.
0:19 The technician said: "No, we never actually found out why. The long story is that it belonged to a friend of the shop owner's son and the car was dead in the driveway so they sent a salesman out to jump-start it and drive it back to the shop. The car went into limp mode on the way back and we noticed all the smoke. That's when we checked the oil and found it massively overfilled. We filled our 5-gallon oil container about halfway with what came out. We never actually talked to the customer directly."
0:37 Luckily it just needed that 1 spark plug installed and it was fine.
0:51 In case you're wondering. A crankcase ventilation system removes unwanted gases from the crankcase of an internal combustion engine. The system usually consists of a tube, a one-way valve, and a vacuum source (such as the inlet manifold).
1:15 The technician said: "I believe the customer did that himself. From my investigation the truck was in an accident and the customer decided to "repair" the truck on his own. The customer declined all recommendations.
1:42 Unsure of the cause of failure but will give an update in a future video if we get one.
1:58 Brake rotors and brake pads are non-existent as you can see.
Which caused the caliper piston to come out and caused a brake fluid leak as well. Very scary that the customer was driving like this.
2:11 The technician said he's not sure who worked on the brakes last.
2:25 The technician said: "Nobody got hurt, the wheel came off in a parking lot, minutes earlier he was on a highway, that would have been bad. I think the lug nuts were loose."
2:32 Since the customer said the vehicle "jumped", I'm thinking that the driveshaft came off and got caught on something and the vehicle jumped in the air as the customer described. Unfortunately, we didn't get the full story from the customer.
2:44 No extra info, but it looks unsafe with all those rocks and garbage.
2:51 The technician said: "early 2000s GMC Sierra came in for brake lines and I pulled the wheels off and noticed the shock mounts that also hold up the gas tank are completely rusted through. Along with terrible rust on the front end. The customer said he had someone put new shocks in for him less than 1 year ago and never told him about the shock mounts."
3:05 Update from photos in the last video.
3:19 It was sitting on the showroom floor of a dealership in Memphis Tennessee when the dealership closed. They left the car there at the dealership and it has sat there since. (Happened two years ago the person said).

That's is by far the most artistic welding job I have ever seen, is like you could see the artist expressing his pain with every inch of stock wire. Is beautiful
He is in a lot of pain.
It looks like one of mine.
I misread that as “autistic” 😂 oops
It looks like he was trying to recreate a coral reef.
Not going to lie though it would be extremely satisfying to take an angle grinder to that weld it gives me anxiety looking at it but it would be so relieving to just clean it up
:05 that looks like a "Hey Cletus, lets go buy a welder from Harbor Freight and we'll weld it up and take it back t'morrow and gets our money back" kind of job.
That's EXACTLY what it looks like.
I highly recommend when buying a used vehicle, put it on a lift and check the undercarriage. Looks like new vehicles will need the same examination if the undercarriage is rusting that quick 👍
Seems lots of 2021 and 2022 cars will end up broken. The main reason is probably shortages.
Just ask to give it a checkup at a shop and if they deny it, don't buy it.
Always get an inspection from a shop. Hundred bucks could save you thousands
@@TurdJesus Usually it's not even in the hundreds to get a check up. If you know what you're doing you can just follow the same shedule they do. Get underneath with a crowbar amd a ball hammer, do a compression test and drive it.
I've not once done that. But I'm in Texas where rust isn't really a thing lol
first clip transcends booger welds, that's a wasp nest weld
😆 sir you can an exterminator not us
I could do better than that with plumbing solder and a MAPP gas torch! 😁
When I was in school for welding, one of the students was doing welds like that...AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM!
I thought it was a wasp's nest at first, also.
I call my former brother in law's truck "Booger" for this reason. lol
What a find that Thunderbird is. Pretty much from the heart of the malaise era. Would be so cool to have Mr. Regular to test drive that.
Flood car.
Paid sticker?
@@rodbender6184 This is one case where it's perfectly OK to buy a flood car. That thing is a gem.
It just a matter of time until things start going bad. Nothing good happens when a car has been set in place, regardless of being in a dealer showroom.
@@bengone3349 Not true. I've purchased totaled vehicles and vehicles that sat for a decade that no one seemed to want and, so long as you're careful, they work out. Go through everything and make sure it's right and from then on you have a very nice reliable vehicle. A 40 year old vehicle that sat in a showroom for it's whole life is about the best case scenario. That thing will be mint once a knowledgeable person goes through it.
I love hearing the accents of the mechanic's from around the country, and the world.
I heard at least 1 'mountain man' accent...
I welded a new flexi into the downpipe on my missus's R50 Cooper, I thought it was pretty terrible but compared to THAT I feel validated! 😂
Same I made an exhaust for my integra and I thought my welds were shit until seen that 😂
Doesn't have to be perfect, just solid. That mess in the video was neither.
Yep. My welds aren't pretty, but I'm a mater welder compared to that guy.
Oh, trust me, you are... and I haven't even seen your go at it.
0:10 looks like my former brother in laws welding. I call his Truck - Booger
Beautiful welding aesthetics. I can see he took inspiration from natural termite nests.
Seen alot of bad welding but nothing like that , he must of went through an entire box of welding rod to get that growth . We love to watch others do some crazy things but i have to admit i was one of those guys who hooked up a hose some where it shouldnt and i am suppose to be a licensed tech although i wasnt quite there yet when this story happened . Didnt have cell phones thankfully back then or i would be on this channel for all to see . I will make it quick . I was working on the washer nozzles of a Cavalier where the metal transmission vent tube is mounted right beside the washer jug on the left tower but the rubber vent hose from the trans was not hooked up to this tube but was lying down at the bottom of the strut tower . I dropped the hose from the washer motor down beside where this other hose was lying , which i didnt notice . I grabbed the wrong hose hooked it to the washer motor and let the wipers and washers rip . Emptied the jug but no washer fluid came out or was running on the floor so i took an air hose with a nozzle and started to pressurize the hose to see what was up . I could hear the air going somewhere but couldnt figure it out so i laid on the pressure . A minute later the transmission dip stick came shooting out hit the wall and covered me in trans fluid . At least i knew where all the washer fluid went , trans service and flush and i learned a valuable lesson i remembered the rest of my career . Sorry for the novel ..
Don't be sorry.
It was worth the read.

At 2:32, I'm wondering if it was a grated bridge and the driveshaft broke and caught the grating. Mythbusters did an episode where they tested a broken driveshaft catching a pothole.
I'm sure the pole vault was due to the drive shaft, but I think the question is what made the drive shaft drop.
Mythbusters proved it won't pole vault
@@MrYfrank14 I love Mythbusters, but I found that nearly every automotive myth they tested, they got wrong. I have seen driveshafts do some major damage when a u-joint breaks. A car may not go head over heels, but it can lift the back end of the car up about 6' or so.
I watched a few episodes of Mythbusters and that was it for me.
They got almost everything wrong.
@@61rampy65 - which is what Mythbusters proved.
You can get major damage, but it won't pole vault.
The loud pop was probably the spark plug blowing out after the customer stripped the threads in the head.
Hi, I sent in the video of the gmc truck with the horribly rusty shock mount and rats nest lol, customer also said he had a new trans and rebuilt engine put in, he decided he is going to sell as a parts truck and i had to take his brand new tires off haha . poor guy wasted sooo much money all because of a shady employee not telling him about the condition of his truck.
Damn poor guy! Hope he makes some money off the parts.
Just what I need after 8hrs in the shop
Hope you had a great day!
Sooooo right!
Appreciate the shout-out brutha! And yeah that customer had no idea it was welded that badly lol. Legit worst thing I've seen in a long time.
I'm far from an experienced welder (not even a novice), but that has got to be one of the spongiest looking weld jobs I've ever seen.
2:51- No one mentioned the rat's nest, either.
Man i am so glad to live in a relatively rust free zone, my nearly 30 year old car's chassis is absolutely spotless which is good as most old land rovers meet the scrapyard because of rust issues
Same. I would hate to have to deal with rust. I don’t know how people do it. If my 10 year old truck was literally falling apart I would be beyond pissed
@@lesterparker1594 it does piss you off living in an area like that...but there's not exactly a good solution

Some Honda models had the drain plugs for the engine and transmission close together and on a manual, they both used oil. I saw a car come in with 8 qts of oil because the customer drained the transmission by mistake and then added 4 qts of oil to the motor. Both had to be replaced..
I have noticed 2 major patterns. Firstly customers turn down repairs for thangs that should have been fixed a long time ago. Secondly there seems to be quality control issues when some of these new vehicles leave the factory.
I would definitely not buy any new vehicles that were made in the past two years. 😅
Just because an owner refuses repairs does not mean that is the end of it. The customers may fix themselves or if the damage is too costly just scrap the car.
2:46 owner is clearly a genius. Why pay the shop to align your vehicle to stop veering to the right… when you can just weigh down the left side of the car with rocks
I guess he figures it is better to have rocks and not need them than to need rocks and not have them.

I'm fifty two years old and seeing what I see on this channel puts some pain in my soul. If there is some work that I'm sure is above my DIY mechanic ability I take it to a shop. It also scares the shit out of me to think there are people on the road with vehicles that are such a hazard not just to them but everyone around them. Please keep posting these amazing videos and shocking the shit out of my soul.
2:47 I work as an automotive painter for a collision repair shop. This i have encountered a few times, the worst was an Explorer window height filled with paper bags from burger king, mcdonalds ect. that still had unfinished food, boxes of snacks like poptarts, unfinished beverages from fast food resturaunts, receipts, trash, clothing, what seemed like groceries that were never taken out of the car. This thing smelled vile and after baking it and rolling it out of the paintbooth the odor was unfathomable
Why would you even accept such a car? Couldn't you not tell the owner he or she had to clean the car before it was repaired?
@@SweBeach2023 That is a very good question, I suppose the reason it came in like that is because when cars come in for estimates the estimators do what they do without stepping in the car most of the time. Even upon drop-off the vehicle is documented and recorded with a camera for any further damages on the outside(plenty of people always try the "that wasnt there", some may not have noticed prior damages but still point it out on pickup). Once the car is in our posession we do a prescan of the system for any system errors that may or may not be there from the accident, I think it was after the car was dropped of did that get noticed. I work on the cars after panels have been replaced/repaired already

there's a video of an older dealer going out of business here on YT. When new cars came in, he'd take last year's cars and park them. Never sold any NOS cars. Fast forward many decades, the guy dies, and the family finds dozens of these gems in the back room with less than 10 miles on the clock. Most still had the wheel covers and floor mats in the trunk.
