The student's belly-landing in a light aircraft looked smoother than some I've experienced in wide-body jets with all wheels down!
Exactly my thoughts.
Probably a student upgrading to multi-engine.

That student pilot doing the belly landing has done something most pilots never do, makes a great entry in his log book too.
Must have been a terrifying experience, but that landing looked as cool as can be.
I can't imagine a student flying that last one, pretty sure they're well qualified

That A350-900 take off is how I imagine I'm taking off every time I fly.
If you take of from SNA or another airport with strict noise limits, you practically are.

The first time, I actually thought the plane would break into two! I thought the nose was too high. I wish to see what it looks like in first class....

That A330 actually stopped much quicker than I expected!
Obviously quicker than the pilots expected as well, given the short stop on the runway. 😉

It seemed like the pilot didn’t override the autobrake from making the plane to a complete stop too!

would be nice to know the mfgr required distance for both full and empty... then hear what this one was.

If he's flying a twin, chances are he's already licensed and looking to add his multi engine rating to his ticket. Possibly also training for commercial.

@@smark1180and how do you know that? It did t say “student pilot”. Whether you have a PPL or a CPL you’re still a student when getting a new rating.
@@MeppyMan The _video_ labeled him a "student pilot." You simply shortened it to "student." Otherwise, you had no reason to do so unless you have a source that he was.
It didn’t take off too steeply. It just took off.

Because they would have already held a private or commercial license and were just doing their multi engine rating.
@@MeppyMan No, I meant that 99% of the time with belly landings, the engine(s) and prop(s) are left running, munching the engine(s). Here, purportedly a student, utterly failed to munch the engines, a Very Good Thing.
Thrust reversers on a wet runway are always cool to watch.
I retired from the USAF @ Dover AFB (MAC), De. It was so impressive to see the huge C-5s coming in to land. They would seem to hang there in the air as they would approach over Rte 13. It was not uncommon to see vehicles parked along side the highway to watch them come in. The slow fly over reminded me of those days with the big C-5s.
When I was stationed on Okinawa with the Navy Seabees I occasionally got to see a C-5 take off. Our camp was only 4 miles or so from the end of the runway. Such an impressive sight to see something so big going so slow yet still flying. Then I saw a Blackbird coming in for a landing while we were out on a job site building a new road.
It's not too steep if it's a trick at a airshow,it's too steep with 125 people in it going to Des Moines!!
With all the passengers relocated instantly to the rear of the cabin. 😅

@@smark1180 Nah, I've used a normal camera but I'm too cheap to buy a good quality camear.
I record things like this all the time because I'm too busy actually experiencing it in real life for myself instead of looking at it through my camera.

Years ago I worked at a warehouse right outside Pearson airport (YYZ, Toronto), directly underneath a landing approach, planes flew right overhead. They were probably higher up than I remember, but on foggy/rainy nights with the right conditions I’d see the wake turbulence quite clearly.
It sounds like ghosts in the sky.

Absolutely beautiful belly landing. Any crash you can walk away from is a good landing, any crash the plain can fly again from is amazing. This is a paint job and some hydraulic repair...

It was an impressive short distance stop in the wet.
Belly landing - Nice job! Even cut the engines and feather the props to minimise damage. The engines alone are $20 to $50K each. So turning them off before landing saves a lot of repair costs as they will now just need an inspection and not a tear down/repair.
I'd pass that student pilot instantly for that brilliant job.
Just imagine waiting 15 mins+ to catch the belly landing and then screwing it up at the critical moment.
That student pilot barely scratched that plane, I'd fly with that pilot anytime

Dublin needs to put some speakers by their runways and blast Tina Turners music. For whatever reason the birds don't like it & keeps them away at Chicago O'Hara airport.
Not only did the student nail the landing, they had the guts to shut down the engines to avoid engine damage. Well done.
I've mentioned feathering engine's on belly Landing's shown on CZcams several times,and each time I was informed by numerous people, to put it bluntly, I'm an idiot.

That belly landing was quite impressive. Pilot missed their calling flying experimental rocket planes, and landing on salt lakes.

Oh Come On! There is a difference between “Too Steeply” and “Incredibly steep”. Also, all flying is above stall speed, if the aircraft stalls it is not flying.

Student pilots do not fly twin engine aircraft. More likely, a Commercial Instrument rated pilot building multi-engine time. Good job on not having a prop strike!
I think the term "student" is unlikely to mean no experience. Nobody does their primary training in a Navajo. That said - perfect landing and stopped the engines prior to avoid and expensive teardown.
I had that kind of steep take off experience once on a Ryanair flight. I sh..t my pants to be honest, it was like on a rocket to the moon :)

Amsterdam, the only airport where the taxi to the runway is longer than the flight itself 😅😅
That seems like a bit of a design goof
The longest taxi (to the Polderbaan) takes about 15 minutes, the shortest flight from Amsterdam is a positioning flight to Rotterdam, which takes 16 minutes from most runways and about 20 if taking off from the Polderbaan (as that faces exactly the wrong direction).

I just had an argument with one CZcams user. He said to me if manuever was planned then “too” should not be used in the title. Just “steep Takeoff” Please explain it to me, English is not my first language

Nice thing about Grant County International - no such thing as a "short" runway (it used to be an Air Force base).
Rumour has it that the student pilot already has a captains position at RyanAir.
I have video of Air France landing too early at JFK on runaway L 22 on the 2nd. It blew debris onto Rockaway Blvd. You can see it thru the fence line.
The Navaho Chieftain belly landing pilot was not a "student pilot."
Furthermore, there's no evidence the pilot was earning his ME when the incident occurred.

Amsterdam's shortest runway, the Oostbaan is only 2,000m long, last time I checked, it was only available to General Aviation aircraft and Narrow-bodies sometimes.
The next "shortest", the Zwanenburgbaan is 3,300m long and that's just long enough for any aircraft flying today.
The Oostbaan can take a B747 (has done so multiple times), but only during a storm from the southwest. There are advantages to doing that (nice straight headwind landing and shorter taxiing).

I thought for that Southwest wind, it's the 'Kaagbaan' that's used as it's much closer to the cargo area. It has two cargo area on both of its side.

Respect the cameraman for actually filming the picture of a pilot landing and taking off.
Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. In a great landing, they can use the plane again. I think, with a little bit of work, they'll be able to use that plane again, replace a few body panels on the underside and get some new props... so I think that qualifies as a great landing. 😄
I wish at these airshows, they would smoke the runway & show a wake turbulence of the big commercial airliners.

I once did a belly landing. But I just kept flying while they brought the runway up 10' to me. It was pretty smooth.

That is the takeoff of a pilot who has a deadline to meet

Of course the A-350 has no passengers no baggage at all and a little fuel to let the aircraft climb in a very incredible way

Twin engined airplanes have 200% needed power so if one engine fails it can still continue!
