  • This is the first time I have changed the oil in the Fusion since I bought it. In the nine months I've owned it I might have driven it 4,000 miles. It sits there in the driveway mostly. I may order a new engine cover for the bottom. It was put there for a reason.

    The bottom cover, which was cut out on this car, doesn't have an access hole for the filter or drain plug (at least not on my 2016, 2.5L). It has 11 screws with 10mm heads. Most of the screws go into plastic inserts, so be careful not to strip them out.
    This cover helps with aerodynamics - gas mileage, and in the rust belt, should keep some of the salt off of things.
    Also, when using ramps, you will likely need to put boards or something down in front of the ramps to keep the front spoiler from hitting the ramps.
    Hope it helps!

    I bought one of those yellow funnels and before I could use it my wife borrowed it and from then on it's been a kitchen funnel.

      He did not put oil in the filter. Air is therefore pushed into the engine oil passages and bearings.

    Always put oil in the filter before installing. And if there is room, like this one was down a half quart, put some Marvel oil or just motor oil and drive the car mildly for about 10 minutes. This is also a good time to put some top cylinder lube in the fuel. Use a quality filter... no cheapies.

    How come you said that you dont waste your time changing the oil on a cold engine?

    • @Deucealive75
      @Deucealive75 Před 5 lety +4

      The idea is that the very warm or hot oil will drain out of the engine quicker than cold oil. The hot oil is slightly thinner. I wouldn't call it a waste of time. On a hot or cold engine I walk away for a half hour or so and let it keep draining/dripping out.

    • @Modifiedstreetcom
      @Modifiedstreetcom Před 4 lety +3

      @@Deucealive75 its because any contaminants settle to the bottom of the pan when its sits a while. So the idea is that running the engine until its warm will suspend the contaminants into the oil so that they are removed when you drain it. Otherwise if you drain it on a cold engine any contaminants that settled to the bottom may not drain out. Thus contaminating the brand new oil you replace it with.

    Why don’t you use Motorcraft oil?

    • @FerdinandMagellan08
      @FerdinandMagellan08  Před 4 lety

      I have used Castrol oil for years. I have used it ever since I've had a driver's license. Nothing against Motorcraft; it's most likely Havoline or something like that. What sold me on Castrol was years ago I tore down a 351 Windsor that had nothing but Castrol run in it since the day it was put together. Had 120,000 miles on it and the inside was just as clean as the day it was built.
