      He does need to learn how to read NFL concepts though, and it’s been an issue. The bears didn’t do him much favors with the scheme. A-Z sports has a good video on it. If they do use fields and play into his strengths he will be very good.

    Speaking as a 🐻s fan, the organization did not do a great job in supporting him. They shouldn’t have let a regime, that was on the verge of getting fired, draft him. That is considered a cardinal sin in roster building and ultimately affected Justin’s development.
    However, that being said, Justin is not without fault. There are still major flaws in his game that need to improve. The one that was mentioned is his throwing mechanics. The problem with his mechanics is that it’s elongated. Essentially he throws like a short stop, which jacks up short timing routes. The Bears run a version of the Shannahan offense, which required a lot of this. A reason why I did not believe Justin was a fit for this scheme.
    Another is his struggles to process zone coverages. If you watch his All-22 (not highlights), you start to notice him skipping over reads whenever a defense started to deploy zone. For some of us Bears fans, this was confusing, cause on film it looks like he does see open receivers in the windows of zone coverages, BUT on a lot of those plays he’ll just pass them up.
    If the Steelers can help him get over these issues, then yes, sky’s the limit. I do like the match between him and Arthur Smith. He could use him similarly to Ryan Tannehill. Use the run to set up Justin’s PA deep strikes. And we all know that Arthur was able to take advantage of Tannehill’s mobility and I could see him doing that for Justin as well. So, I do like the fit and hope this works well for Justin.

    I'm not looking too deep into anything the Steelers are doing at QB right now. They're both on a 1 year deal and for all we know neither will be back in 2025. The only thing I'm confident we won't do is pick up Justin's 5th year option. If he comes back at all it will be on a new cheaper contract. But I think we'll have more answers towards the half-way point of the 2024 season.

    I decided NOT to put this on anyone else's stream. On the one hand, I don't want to call out a new Yt content-creator, on the other, I know that you're wrong. So I'll leave the decision up to you. I can paste a link proving Fields Does Not Struggle to read defenses. That he Never Did.
    After that, I can write a thesis about human nature & how people are more loyal to coaches and The Franchise & that when it became rather obvious that the Bears were sabotaging Fields, the fan base just went in harder on Fields.
    In this video you *are looking at* what Fields does & does not do on the field & drawing conclusions from it, but I don't know how far back your knowledge goes & the timeline Is Important. Around week 5 of '22 Fields for the first time saw an Open Receiver, stopped himself from throwing to them as if he was shocked, then instead tucked the ball in & scrambled.
    "Can't read defenses," right? There's your proof. Except that he'd scrambled free, saw the open receiver & stopped rushing, wound up to throw _then_ reacted like he'd gotten a shock then stopped himself from throwing. Also, you don't *have* to read defenses to throw to an open receiver. Also, the Bears didn't take him into the blue tent for concussion protocol, not even after he did this more times the same game.
    & how could they have *known he wasn't* failing top pass to wide-open receivers due to concussion? Unless him not doing so was him executing those plays As Called?
    I didn't keep links to the videos of this or the ones of fields Openly Calling Out The Bears' Coaching Staff for doing this to him (twice) because at the time I didn't think I'd _have_ to. But Matt Eberflus kept chop-waving reporters silent until they stopped asking questions about this which is sus all in itself, & it's Damned Curious that a GM whose career could end if he made the mistake of trading away a franchise QB never looked into it after it was made public.
    So, care to continue? & if so, it doesn't have to be here where others can read it. The Main Link proving he never had problems reading defenses is from '21. I wouldn't expect *anyone* to have seen it. But I don't know if you care to look into this past or go that deep into things. The other general observations you made are fine, but this might all be too heavy for what you want to do with Your Channel 😉

    • @falseandfactssports
      @falseandfactssports  Před 27 dny

      I don’t have a loyalty to the bears franchise or coaches because I’m not a fan. I think Eberflus should have been fired too. If anything I’m loyal to fields because he went to OSU.
      Can you paste the link showing he can read a defense. Also in your fourth paragraph, are you saying he was concussed and that’s why he missed the throw?
      Both can be true, the bears offense sucked, but fields also struggled reading it.
      Also, I didn’t use a script when I made this one so it made me repeat myself and mighta made me sound a bit more dumb.

    • @choosecarefully408
      @choosecarefully408 Před 27 dny

      @@falseandfactssports Nah, any miscommunication is due to my tendency to meander. It's worse when I'm tired & due to a condition, that's most of the time.
      He wasn't concussed. My point was let's say Joe Burrow suddenly stared at an Open Receiver. Instead of passing to them. Everyone watching would _dread_ that he'd been concussed & that they didn't see when it happened. That would be the Immediate Reaction of anyone watching. So why didn't the _Bears do that_ when Fields first did this?
      It implies they _knew_ he *wasn't concussed.*
      So how _could_ they know that without checking? Because he wasn't doing something weird. He was doing what he was told. This is why the #1 meme created by fans to explain this *at the time* was that this was the Bears simplifying the offense for him. At the Time, everyone realized they had called for him to not pass to those receivers _because_ they knew that he wasn't doing that due to a concussion.
      It was Brett Kollmann czcams.com/video/QuhUbISnr8s/video.html who made the video including stats proving Fields not only goes through his reads but is more successful at passing to them than any other QB that year, with no close second. Yet this myth was created. It's a little like Caleb now coincidentally.
      When people _can't find_ faults with you but want to, they'll make them up. Painting his nails & crying over an important loss aren't faults in game or character. With Fields, there were fewer overt things to point out, although I think he was still Vegan. So the myth was invented out of whole cloth with respectable media personalities echoing it mindlessly.
      This is human nature: once we think we know a thing, questioning it feels like questioning All Our Beliefs because our brains store what we _think_ in the same place as what we *know.* It treats both identically.
      So telling people Fields _can_ read defenses is like telling them their chosen political party is wrong, or 2+2=5. The reaction is the same. They feel Personally Attacked.
      This is the danger of all rumor. Part of the reason for my name here is that I'm one of those rare people who is aware of the great potential harm caused by casual rumor & saying such things behind people's backs.
      The results here were that Everyone _BELIEVES_ Fields to be at fault for something & this may already have destroyed his career. Maybe not a big deal if he's only as good as a Zach Wilson. But his highlight reels feature throws that only Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson & some unknown guy named Mahomes in K.C. can make.
      So we might be missing out on something better than Zach. Due only to A Rumor.
      & I meandered again.

    • @falseandfactssports
      @falseandfactssports  Před 26 dny

      It's not just that one pass where Fields struggled but I know what you mean with the Borrow comparison.
      Also I don't understand why the Bears would tell Fields not to pass to open receivers. That almost just sounds like conspiracy of the Bears purposely going against their own guy. Also, I had watched AlexRollins video, But I do trust Brett Kollman more.
      But remember Kollmans video is 2 years old

    • @choosecarefully408
      @choosecarefully408 Před 26 dny

      @@falseandfactssports Okay, I'll backtrack a little. As someone who has coached & worked middle management, but also seen where coaches "think" they're doing the Right Thing, I tune out All Rhetoric. I'm one of those people who don't get confused. When you say A but do B, I won't get confused. "Don't pee on my leg & try to tell me it's raining."
      *Just the facts that* 1) your QB says he is being confused by 'His Coaches' (isn't that in itself a weird way of putting it?) _AND_ 2) no one took him into the blue tent to *check* if he was concussed when he *First **_STARTED_* missing wide-open receivers as he'd never done before (Bears receivers weren't good at gaining separation in '22) indicates a few things. First, why does he have to publicly declare that his coaches confuse him?
      That's career suicide. Kaeprernick may not have been élite when he got black-listed by the NFL, but he was sure better than say Derek Carr was when the Saints gave him the Huge Contract. No coach would want any QB who would publicly shame their coaches for any reason. But there's another thing everyone is missing in all this: Eberflus.
      How tf does he not at the _very least _*_publicly state that_* this calling out of the coaches is an internal matter? Or that it's his responsibility? WHY TF would _any coach_ miss this opportunity to assert their authority?
      Also, why tf wouldn't he try to rectify what 'His Coaches' are doing? If it isn't *his doing?* See what I mean? If I'm the HC & finding out my QB is getting confused, I'd speak to him.
      How did We The Fans "miss" the _FACT_ that Eberflus clearly is never speaking directly to Fields? Because that too is an indication they are sabotaging him.
      One way or another Eberflus should have been reprimanding Fields for speaking out or Fixing The Problem(s).
      He
      Did
      Neither. Something is not *right* about that.
      So working backwards from "the HC isn't doing his job" I look for other signs. Yes, I'm aware that Kollmann's assessment is old. But here's the thing. It shows Fields *can and **_does_* read defenses. So if he isn't _now,_ why? I don't just shrug & say "I guess he lost that ability." No one _LOSES_ their ability to read defenses!
      Where did this ability go? Did it *evaporate?* Was he lobotomized? Did a new species of bat come at night & suck the knowledge from his brain through his ears? Seeing an LB waiting to jump the route looks the same in the NFL as it does at LSU. So even saying that is more fodder for "why didn't they take him into concussion protocol when he exhibited signs of no longer being able to read the offense?"
      *This* is why the Broncos are willing to pay Russ to play elsewhere. They can _see _*_he HAS LOST_* the ability to even *look at* the middle of the field. He goes straight from looking outside the numbers to dumping passes off behind the line of scrimmage killing Every Drive on 3rd down, or even by getting 4 or less yards on 1st & 2nd making it so every defense knows that the pass is coming, so he kills drives on All Downs.
      With Fields, he Suddenly Started Doing Something New, then everyone said "he always had this problem." But the Kollmann video _proves_ that this "problem" was said to exist when it Demonstrably Didn't.
      A guy's career is at stake. We The Fans have some responsibility in forwarding the rumors that can contribute to him losing it. Some of us got Matt Canada fired.
      We should be more careful. Anyhow, none of us are really in power to change much of anything except through rhetoric. I'm trying my best. But all of this is moot if he never gets to start again.
