      Truth be told he does that, but the other side of that is if you see him throw with anticipation to anyone not named Kmet or Dj Moore. The play doesn't end well. I see it as a bears problem bc after what he went through in 2022 was not a conducive environment to develop a QB. Praying he gets to sit for a bit in Pittsburgh and put it all together. He's got what it takes to be a very good QB in the league.

      @@star13km82 People bring up Mooney, yet Mooney was a 1000 yard receiver with a rookie Justin Fields. Then in 2022, the Bears fielded the worst team in franchise history, yet Justin was still breaking records almost every week. Then they give him Moore in 2023 and Moore has his best season by far with Justin, as well as Kmet, the only 2 reliable people he had to throw to. To your point, he threw to them with confidence because everyone else was messing up routes or dropping balls. Tonyan dropping TDs, Mooney doing dumb spinning shit trying to make catches harder than they need to be. But you're right, whenever it was Moore or Kmet he was throwing to, he was confident in them to make a play.

    It’s about coordinating the right scheme for your talent. The avg fan is stuck in the idea that we should copy the Mahomes or Brady blueprint. I felt we should have established a modern 1920’s style offense with Fields. The best teams innovate and things go in cycles. Think about early basketball. When you see old clips in black and white it mostly outside shooting. Then it went to post up and sky hook to, MJ triangle and isolation Back to Curry and outside shooting. I’m the NBA defense is built to stop the outside shot. So start going back to the post as the primary weapon. For football get the biggest fastest run blocking linemen and a running QB and shove it up the defenses aaaaaa…..

    Ive been watching the replays of the 2023 season. In game 3 against Denver the Bears were up 14 points in the forth. They call a PA pass and Tonyan misses a block during the fake and JF is immediately stripped and the defense scores a TD. This 100% not JF’s fault as he has to turn his back to the defense during the fake. It should be noted that K. Herbert was having a great game and the Bears were moving the ball with the run game. The play call was not good situational football. Later the Bears March down the field and have a chance to take the lead with under 2 minutes by kicking a FG from the 20. But on 4th and 1 they go for it and turn it over on downs. Momentum is a very underestimated concept to the average fan. On the very next play riding the wave of momentum Denver converts a pass for 45 yards that puts them in FG range and that’s all she wrote. Is JF good? His completion % was about 80% for the game. At one point he completed 16/16 passes which is the Bears new record. He threw 4 TD’s and at the end of the game he got them in FG range to take the lead. I think he’s good and I think the coaching for the Bears was horrible up until about the 5th game when the Bears started to show signs of life. Many people judge the individual and not the overall team. What these people fail to understand is that when you watch a game you see a 5 second clip of the main action. In reality every individual assignment matters. One missed block, or a WR slip, or missed assignment has a dramatic affect on the play, but what you see in the 5 second clip is JF fumble, and what you don’t see is the missed block. In reality JF does things other QB’s cannot do.

      You're aware that Denver had arguably the worst defense in the nfl right? That's the ONLY reason he had good passing stats that game. Don't believe me? Here, look at his passing game splits last year....
      Vs Den (27th def) n Wash (32nd def):
      8 pass tds
      1 int
      1 fumble
      Other 11 games:
      8 pass tds
      8 ints

Nobody ever doubted he could be a leader. But where he fell apart was throwing the football and reading defenses. He holds the ball too long because he misses his reads and windows. Steelers are a great spot for Fields. Arthur Smith did a great job with the Titans, and assuming he can get the Steelers offense looking like that without having HC duties to worry about, Fields should be very productive. They still need a WR and 1-2 OLmen which I hope they take care of before the season. If they do, then the Steelers can be an elite ground-n-pound team with Fields/Najee/Warren while creating explosive plays via play action because of Fields playmaking abilities using his legs and deep ball prowess. With a good defense, the Steelers should be able to avoid many situations where the offense has to become a dropback passing team.
    Individually, I hope Fields focuses on mitigating the disaster plays. Idk if he will ever become a fast enough processor for a team to depend on him as a pure dropback passer, but if he can mitigate the disaster plays while continuing to steadily progress as a processor (just enough to go from a bad to even below-average dropback passer) then he will be a guy the Steelers can win with. I still think he is similar to Jalen Hurts in that both are below-average pocket passers who can be super productive if used in a run-first/great defense when surrounded by talent and good coaching. Hurts had a good situation to grow in but Fields didn't. PIT is a consistent organization and there aren't many other teams I would trust to fix Fields development. Of course, I mentioned earlier, Arthur Smith returning to (his Titans) form is going to be crucial for this to play out.

      It's also odd how you keep saying "if Arthur Smith can get back to his Titans days" considering Tannehill is a far superior qb than Fields dating back to his days in Miami and Pittsburgh doesn't have a Derrick Henry to feed 350-400 touches every year to make the offense look better than it really is. In his two years as the OC in Tennessee they ranked 21st and 23rd in pass yards. His offense was just "give it to Henry" 😆😆😆

    At 3:16 DJM runs out of space at the side line. This play should be called from the left hash to roll right. In other words it should utilize the wide the side of the field. In this case the play is to the weak side. That’s a fundamental mistake by the OC.

      He threw it too late, with too much loft, not enough speed, and to the wrong spot. Also the receiver should have run a deeper route with a sharper cut. He should have thrown it before the receiver broke and it should be high and toward the sideline so that a defender can’t undercut it. The loft also gave the defender time to cut in front of the receiver on a ball that was already under thrown and misplaced.

    Justin is at best, a 3rd stringer.
    He's as athletic, no denying that.
    But he struggles with the mental aspects of the game. He can't read defenses or anticipation of blitzes. Thus he makes no line adjustments and audibles. He has poor pocket awareness and as athletic as he is, he gets sack way too often.
    He can't even keep the defense on their toes by making as simple a. I've as varying cadence.
    The defense always gets a jump on him.
    (Rogers would be the complete opposite of this simple quarterbacking move).
    And to top it off, while he has a strong arm, he cannot seem to anticipate throwing lanes.
    Scramble to hivehoo the 🏈 hoping someone runs it down. Justin's ball is at best a wing and a prayer.

      @DeCurtaRican Před měsícem

      Fields CAN’T throw over the middle. Russ has been reluctant to use the middle at various points in his career. Theresa world of difference between those two guys.
      Russ can throw over the middle. He has had times when he didn’t do it, but Russ can kill any defense from any angle if the O-line and receivers do their part. And you don’t send a fully covered, fragile, 5’10 slot receiver coming off an injury over the middle.
      In fact, one of the games I saw him use the middle brilliantly all afternoon was Seahawks vs. Steelers (2019). There’s a 00:02:47 video with plenty of footage of Russ unloading the ball quickly, playing on schedule, standing strong in the pocket, and hitting guys over the middle.
      Btw, I don’t think Fields is a better athlete either! So he doesn’t even have THAT over Russ. He’s faster, but Russ is slippery and can do more with his arm on the run.
      Anyone who thinks these QBs are the same has an undiscerning eye. Yes, Fields shares some traits with young Russ, but Russ is on a completely different planet as a passer, playmaker, and leader.
      Yes, I said leader. Contrary to what a lot of people think, Russ is well-liked by most players. But leadership isn’t about being liked. It’s about commanding respect. Some guys may not even like him, but they respect him. You hear that even from LoB teammates. Honestly, it was one mouth who stirred up all the trouble: Richard Sherman, and it was mostly out of jealousy!

    As a RB maybe. He's had 3 full seasons to show something as QB, more than enough time to prove himself and he hasn't. Worse still he completely folds to division rivals, the teams that know him best can easily shut down what little production he does make. And how do these division rivals beat him? By daring him to pass his way to victory and he failed every time.

  • @MFBloosh
    @MFBloosh Před 2 měsíci +3

    Yes, he's good. When there wasn't 300 pound D Linemen coming unblocked on almost every play and he has a clean pocket, he was extremely accurate, especially his deep ball. Honestly has one of the best deep balls in the league statistic-wise which is going to benefit the Steeler's young, speedy receivers like Pickens. And when he needs to run, he's the best QB in the league at it. He's just as fast and shifty as Lamar, but he's big and hard to tackle like Josh Allen. He consistently shakes off sacks from people like Hutchinson, Miles Garrett, Fletcher Cox, etc and makes big plays. And off topic, I did find it weird that people were using his total stats against him when he missed 4 and a half games. People might not want to hear it, but if he played all 17 games he would've been a 3200+ yard passer while having 800+ rushing yards, based on his per-game averages. That's a pretty good season for a dual threat QB if you ask me. But still, there are things he can improve on of course. Having a quicker release on his throw, for example, but every problem he still has left can be ironed out easily by a good coach, in my opinion.

    • @AdamB34
      @AdamB34 Před 2 měsíci

      You shouldn't use his per game passing stats because they are EXTREMELY skewed by 2 games. He averaged 308 pass yards and 4 pass tds per game vs Washington and Denver but only 176 pass yards and 0.72 pass tds per game in the other 11 games. He had 617 pass yards and 8 pass tds vs Washington and Denver and only 1,945 pass yards and 8 pass tds in the other 11 games. If you go by the 11 game sample size instead of the two game sample size he would've had 2,992 pass yards and 13 pass tds in 17 games last year. That's TERRIBLE for any style qb. Seriously, look at his game splits...
      - Vs Wash (32nd def) n Den (27th def):
      8 pass tds
      1 int
      1 fumble
      - Other 11 games:
      8 pass tds
      8 ints
      9 fumbles
      Other than smoking 2 of the worst defenses in the nfl he was trash the other 11 games.

    He limits an offense. Look at the offense under bagent vs. Fields. Fields does not have the IQ. His big plays come because a bad defense bites on the threat of the qb run. Multiple times fields has ran to left towards the line, the defender bites and he dumps it over his head to moore and moore runs to the house. It pumps his mediocre numbers but he will never win, like lamar. Running QBs have a short life in the nfl. Once lamar slows dowm he will suck and his window is about another two years. The brain is the strength of a great qb, legs are a nice fourth or fifth skill.

      Bagent was spoon fed a 1-2 read offense. The line quite literally got beat every other players. Getsy wasn't about to have an undrafted rookie run the same unlocked play book as Fields. In 4 games bagent was alright and he did his best and I love him for it. But when we needed him to do more in the LA game or win it at NO(where he had 4 chances I believe) the offense sputtered. Fields is also highly intelligent, scored an all time high on the wonderlic also had an offer to go to Harvard. Yes you need IQ dudes got it he's not dumb. Feel free to disagree I see him being one of the better QBs soon.

Also, Bagent got sacked 5 times in 4 starts for a sack% of about 3.5% while Fields got sacked 44 times in 13 starts for a sack% of about 10.5%. So you can blame the oline all you want but Fields took sacks at a 3x higher rate than Bagent

    • @star13km82
      @star13km82 Před 2 měsíci

      @AdamB34 I already mentioned I dislike the bagent comparisons, they're lame and have no context when brought up. Dude ran the elementary school offense. 2 reads at the most and screens. Getsy knew this oline was awful, they'd be bottom 5 if Fields wasn't so dam talented and bailed them out. Bagent couldn't, throw the ball or die! Also I apologize forget the wonderlic there's a mental aptitude test the NFL does and out of +6,500 players Fields is number 1! He scored 130, Mahomes is 110. Fields has all the talent in the world to be great, he's not stupid and doesn't have processing issues, he's had oline will protect every other snap and recievers never separate issues. Pittsburgh is a good spot and he's likely to resurrect his career the next few seasons.

    • @AdamB34
      @AdamB34 Před 2 měsíci

      @@star13km82 you seriously have issues homie. An aptitude test is utterly meaningless when it comes to processing and reading defenses. Just because you can get a master's degree it doesn't mean you can process a defenses in under 2 seconds and make reads in under 2 seconds and then make an accurate pass. It just means you can pass a test 😆😆😆. Why doesn't Harvard have dozens of players in the nfl if high test scores is so meaningful? Gee, it's almost like school intelligence and football intelligence are different. That might explain why guys who can barely read or write and got Cs-Ds in school can still be high level football players 🤔...
      Once again... you brought up Bagent but this was also true FOR EVERY OTHER QB WHO STARTED ON THE SAME TEAMS AS FIELDS. Here, look for yourself....
      2021 sack%:
      Fields- 11.8%
      Foles- 10.6%
      Dalton- 7.1%
      2022 sack%:
      Fields- 14.7%
      Siemien- 7.1%
      Peterman- 3.8%
      2023 sack%:
      Fields- 10.6%
      Bagent- 3.4%

      It's not like we specifically targeted Fields. Justin Fields is only in a Steelers uniform because Kenny Pickett didn't want to compete with Russell Wilson come this training camp. The front office was perfectly content heading into 2024 season with Russ and Kenny. Whether it be Justin or Kenny, we were going to have a young QB with lots of issues that need hammering out. In this light, it's not so bad. We didn't break the bank and Russ is still going to be our starter regardless.
