It was good qb play nd i was a big jay fan. But I wouldn't say great. Sometimes yeah throw for 350 3tds no emotion just rockin his head on the sideline. Heed look cold blooded but then head come out the next game nd throw 4 picks nd walk to the sideline no emotion. Just rockin his head on the sideline like he could give a dmn about playoffs. So I got mixed emotions on jay. Good wouldn't say great

In the 27 years ive been a bears fan, I've have the same watching Justin play is the most fun/ promising thing I've seen since Devin Hester. Someone who can change the game in one play. Fields has his moments where he doesn't look like he can read but I firmly believe it is because he is he's afraid of throwing a pick and the fans booing him. (Which always happens) he runs off confidence. U can see in a game. When he says f it and slings a pass he probably shouldn't have thrown but somehow fits it in. The game changes for him. And as much as i liked seeing him fight for extra yards it was reassuring to see him go down early this last game and just control what he could. Kmet is one of the most underrated, tight ends, and most underutilized tight ends in the game… The guy has probably the best hands, he made some incredible catches this year and last year… He always does… He rarely drops a ball, he’s an above average blocker… He’s always aware, always Johnny on the spot… A decent guy also… And he looks like what Batman look like… Not that sickly looking dude from England… Just kidding he was OK, but seriously… Cole would be a ridiculous Batman… Don’t even know why I’m thinking that… But anyway, if they have him and Brock Bowers on the other side… DJ Moore Marvin Harrison Junior and if they released Don Mooney which I still think they’ll keep him because when he’s good, he’s really good… But if they don’t then they could draft two receivers and I’d be happy… Because that kid from LSU or the one from Texas… Or find someone similar to Tyreek Hill… and they could be scary…

9:07 this is THE problem with Fields no one seems to see.
    "You see that little hitch?"
    Yes.
Do YOU see that if he didn't hitch, the reciever is further from the defender, the window is bigger and the throw doesn't HAVE to be perfect to work!?!?!!??
    .
He is STILL late, just like the first play, NOT "on time"
    .
Because of his amazing QB talent, he can make these happen sometimes. Counting on amazing arm (and leg) talent isn't a consistent strategy, it leads to as many big negative plays as it does big positive ones.

Personally, as I see it, the evidence shows that we've more or less seen Fields's ceiling. He is good. He just isn't good enough to warrant a $40 mil per year contract, which he'll likely command after his 5th year option. To me, that says that the team needs to prepare for that time when he's not retained. Keeping him this year, trading down, and then using one of the picks between late 1st round to round 3 on a developmental QB makes sense. If they are smart about it, they maintain continuity to a degree and they add a piece that could be the future.

You can be effective as a running quarterback against poor defenses like the Cardinals and this year the Lions. The Lions played Justin pretty well last year.
But when you go against the better defenses like the Cleveland's and the Minnesota's and the Carolina's and even the Kansas city's City's, Justin isn't allowed to run all over the lot.
It's fool's gold. It's more important to me that he doesn't miss those 18 yd curl routes than it is for him to make a 50-yard run.
He's just a more athletic version of Tayson Hill. He's not a franchise starting quarterback. Anyone that still needs work on their foot work after playing quarterback for 6 years, three in college and three with the Bears, I mean-what can the defenders of Justin say?
Louis Riddick had it right: players like Justin get coaches in general managers fired because they have great flashes but never consistently deliver the goods.

That first ball he caught… When it was a little short, it seemed to slip out of his hands… Because I think if he wanted it a couple yards deeper for a touchdown, or a little higher against a smaller cornerback… He would’ve made that catch and also breakaway or fight off the blocker(s) with ease… where other tight end can do that our team… No one… Brock Bauer should be a great addition… Just another big receiver with excellent hands and quick feet with decent speed… And obviously Harrison is just ridiculous sometimes… And they’re convinced Braxton Jones will be the guy that left tackle then at least get him a strong back up in the third or fourth round… definitely a center, and possibly Jermaine Burton… If they’re lucky in the late second or top third round… He’s legit 4.31… Decent size at 6 feet tall, very elusive and quick feet… Very above average hands… Sometimes makes incredible plays, good YAC yardage and the potential to get better… I mean if he can run under a 4.3 at the draft, a sub seven Cohen run… Above 38 inch vertical, and 11 foot broad jump… Clean up his route running, and he could be a special player as well… That no one is talking about… and I’m sure there are others in the mid rounds as well if they choose to go with a defensive player in the late second third round… But this class is not really deep with defensive tackles… Or defensive ends… Unless I’m wrong… So the other option might be center/tackle but I think adding a small or smaller since he’s 6 foot tall…, Would be a great addition to the offense… I mean I want Mooney and Tyler Scott to finally bust out again… But if they can add someone else for the competition they should go for it… Why not? Injury is half all the time and the more talent give Justin, the better… The defense is going to improve, I believe, if the sign a technique or a find a diamond in a rough three technique/nose tackle… I’m definitely a defensive, and if not sooner… It could be good next season… But they all have to learn because they’re new guys… Will have to get better, not stupid sneaky, but forceful clever… I would love to team that tell the other guys what they’re going to run and they still couldn’t stop them… Like the Dallas Cowboys of the 90s… But I would also love the St. Louis Cardinals/Kurt Warner eraplayers, a really great coordinator for those guys they install something similar, and if they have just Field and his ability to run, it would make that offense, even harder to stop… As long as he’s sharper and smoother at the Snap and after…

  • @j8k3d18

I’ve said on other threads - spend the draft picks and FA money on the offense, and run it back with Fields. Worst case scenario? You trade back, get ANOTHER 1st next year, and load up the offense for any other QB that might come in, veteran or rookie, in 2025. Look at Brock Purdy. Fields is objectively better than him in almost every aspect, yet Brock has a stacked team around him AND OC and HC, and wins.
Mahomes came in with a playoff team, learned behind a better than average QB, throwing to Hill, Kelce (and more), with a very good OL, a legit NFL HC, and good defense.
I have no reason to think Williams, Maye or Daniels would be any better with this current Bears roster and coaching staff.

The Cardinals are playing a bunch of 4th string and waivers guys due to being the least expensive defense and having the most injuries. No pass rush, no run D and no secondary. Justin Fields went 15-for-27 for 170 yards, one touchdown, and one interception for a 71.5 passer rating. Kyler was 24-38 for 230 yards, no Ints with a 97.5 passer rating against the Bears defense and his #1 WR was out. He didn't have anyone open all game. He's the highest rated passer against perfect coverage since he's been back. If you switched those 2 QBs Kyler playing for the Bears would have lit the Cardinals defense up. You're going to have to write a huge check next year for Justin. Or you could reset with another rookie deal and a QB with a more accurate arm.
