    This model is almost getting to a 'travel' aircraft.... one that is lacking in the industry that would allow many who now travel by air/sea and the fact that drones are not allowed on most cruise ships these days. Something like this or maybe in the near future an even more portable model (like a flying wing without the screaming engine) that can carry a micro cam for aerial footage of your trip or to simply take your hobby on the road with you....without the bulk! A million dollar idea maybe Jason.

    Thanks to the guy who did the video explaining the difference between the aeroscout and the apprentice......both excellent planes but i have decided to go with the Aeroscout first. I still have my old Aerobird Challenger 3 and the old Parkzone Focke Wulf :) and really looking forward to flying the next generation of planes, i learned a lot on the Aerobird Challenger3, what a plane that is...i could get half hour out of a battery, climb high, cut the power and glide and hug the wind where possible, made many repairs to it too and bought many wings where i couldnt repair, strange thing is they always seemed to fly better after a repair haha, i added gaffa tape to the wings to strengthen them slightly, i snapped a few wings diving hard and pulling up sharp with expert mode with all the horns at full throw, gave it a little bit more than perhaps it was designed for, still my favourite plane, endless fun...even managed to get it flying inverted haha. The Focke Wulf was excellent too though more of a postive full on flight compared to the gliding capabilities of the challenger3 which had such a low stall speed especially facing into the wind.

    Fantastic presentation and teaching. You sir should be a model for other You Tube aspiring teachers/presenters. This coming from a teacher. I could base my whole comment on your meticulous and articulate presentation. Great job. Anyway I’ve been so excited to get into this hobby and I’ve got the bug bad after picking up a couple of micro helis. I have a Sport Cub S but it’s always windy up in northern Canada where I am and I think it stands to reason that a larger plane would be way better in the wind and probably actually easier to learn on. I was going to get the carbon cub S or the apprentice but the assembly itself turned me off. I want to learn how to fly these things not spend an hour or more trying to put them together. This seems like my kind of beginner friendly RC aircraft. Solid and well-built, not needing rubber bands all over the place. Anyway you just might have helped me make a decision. Tell me can you fly this in parks etc? Thank you very much. Cheers.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  Před 4 lety +1

      Thank you very much for your feedback and support Steve! And yes, this model is sized so it can be flown in large parks...in an area as small as a single soccer field for more experienced pilots, or in an area the size of ~2+ soccer fields for less experienced pilots. The more space and less obstructions the better when learning to fly of course! The AeroScout does handle better in wind than the Sport Cub S and other smaller/lighter class models, but we do recommend flying in as low of winds as possible when learning to fly. And if you haven't already, we strongly recommend picking up the latest version of RealFlight RC Flight Simulator (www.horizonhobby.com/category/airplanes/aircraft-radio-systems/simulators )...it will help you learn to fly, and become a better pilot, in less time and with far less crashes of your actual models! The AeroScout is not currently in RealFlight (yet ;), but the Sport Cub S, Carbon Cub S and the Apprentice are in there, along with Virtual Flight Instructor lessons also taught by Jason. I just purchased this aircraft and had my first flight ever yesterday. Gusty wind and no crash at all. So great plane for beginners even if I had spent some time in simulator to get used to commands. One question I have: it seems that despite putting the transmitter in flight mode 2 (expert mode), I cannot roll or loop; SAFE seems to be engaged even in expert mode. I could not find a setting in the app. Is there a specific setting or setup I need to do? I tried with a DSXe and I tried in my apartment with the DSXeS (without flying) and gyro are kicking with both transmitters.

The wire going to channel one has 4 wires and one is yellow and is not attached to anything, does it plug into 5 or 6 channel or left out? It has a plug attached to it so it seems it would plug into either channel 5 or 6 which are the only two left in the receiver. Thanks for your help. I got the DXS model transmitter. If anyone is putting together this plane and looking at the comments, the Aileron plug requires some good amount of force to get it to snap into place. It will snap and you will feel it. It might seem like it goes in the wrong way, black to yellow, but it's definitely yellow to white. I believe I lost my first Aeroscout due to not connecting these well enough and they became disconnected mid flight. Not knowing what went wrong, I was unable to turn the plane around and it got so far away it lost connection. Hindsight I might have been able to use the rudder to bring it back around. Switching back to beginner mode it goes hard nose down and again needs to be retrimmed for level flight. Reading the ops manual again, I see it states trimming should only be done in exp. mode (2) ?? Yes! The DXe originally included with the RTF version AeroScout S 1.1m, as well as the DXS that will now be included, can be used with many other 4-5 channel HobbyZone and E-flite BNF Basic aircraft including this T-28 Trojan 1.1m: czcams.com/video/r0K6S1K4vYc/video.html

      So you and the transmitter are always in control of the receiver and aircraft! Otherwise, if the transmitter is off and the receiver is on, interference or something else can cause unwanted commands of the aircraft including moving the control surfaces and/or running the motor unexpectedly.

    I have downloaded the setup to my dx6 ready to bind but I have one question before I bind it.. Do I need to assign the flightmode switch by toogling the switch still or is it pre set for that 3 pos flightmode switch for safe when bindning to dx6?
    The manual is unclear on this point. I want all 3 flightmodes setup like the rtr dxe on my dx6...
    Mvh Pierre

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  Před 3 lety

      The SAFE flight modes are assigned to channel 5/gear by default. When using a DX6, this means the flight modes will be on the 2-position A switch by default. With the 2-position switch you will have Beginner mode and Experienced mode...you will not have Intermediate mode available (most people do not mind this). If you would like to have Intermediate mode as well, you will need to use the "channel assign" function in the DX6 to change the switch channel 5/gear is assigned to from switch A to switch B. Then you will have all three flights modes on yours DX6!

    I just got a aeroscout s1 and in beginner mode i have full rudder throw. in intermediate i have half rudder throw. Is this correct ?

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  Před 4 lety +1

      Yes, this is correct! You have less aileron control/a lower bank angle limit in the beginner mode so you may need more rudder to make the turns "tighter" than in the intermediate mode (which has more aileron control/a higher bank angle limit). This also makes it easier to taxi in the beginner mode since you have more nose gear steering authority. You should also have more rudder throw in the experienced mode!

      We offer two versions...RTF (Ready-To-Fly) and BNF (Bind-N-Fly) Basic:
      The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) version includes a Spektrum DXe controller/transmitter equipped with industry-leading DSMX® 2.4GHz control technology, plus a Spektrum Smart LiPo battery and charger that make it easier and safer to charge. That means there's nothing extra you need to buy or provide before you can fly!
      And the fun doesn't stop after you learn how to fly! The powerful and efficient brushless power system delivers long flight times and provides plenty of speed and power to perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls and even inverted (upside down) flight. Plus, the lightweight design and low wing loading deliver a very wide flight envelope and incredible handling that even experienced pilots will appreciate and enjoy. The BNF Basic version (HBZ3850) is the perfect choice for those pilots because it allows them to use their favorite Spektrum™ transmitter along with batteries and chargers they may already own to fly with.
