    I have always loved the focus line since I was a kid and saw the svt for the first time, and a couple of months ago found a fantastic deal for a never sold 2017 ST3 with only 20 miles on it at the ford dealer. It was like it was waiting there for me to find it and your videos were such an inspiration to buy it. Very keen to see your next modifications. I’m sure all the focus community will love them!!

      Wilfredo Vives ; Wilfredo, if you don’t mind me asking; How much did you pay for it? Were they willing to negotiate at the Ford Dealer for it? My guess is you paid $ 27,000. Am I close? Have fun with it! They are great cars.

    • @wilfredovives
      @wilfredovives Před 4 lety

      Philip Rosenthale Hello Philip! They weren’t willing to negotiate at all. They told me it was already a “sale” price, which was true, as I paid $25,000 tax included. I think it was a very good price. Thanks! I am having a blast with it! Do you own one?

    Keep it up yo! I love my ST. I have had it for 2.5 years now and I always get the itch to mod it but don’t like the typical mods that people do. Plus, working as a technician I appreciate oem parts. Anyways keep up the videos and I’d love to see more “OEM plus” type mods.

    LoL nice editing. Beard looks great!
    Just over two weeks of driving my 2016 St2 and it's a great car!
    I came from a first year 2006 gen4 Mitsubishi Eclipse
    You are right about not getting the first year of a generation... avoid it if you can.
    And this thing feels like a futuristic lovely piece of equipment I must say.
    The eclipse grew on me, but this is just on a whole other level.
    Focus is @ 20,600 miles right now. Hoping for many years to come

    Fascinating video, interesting how fuel octane changes in different countries. In the Uk our minimum is 95 but I buy 99 octane for my M140i. We also have ethanol added to the fuel but not at the higher octane.Looking forward to many more videos to come with both the ST and M2 👍

    • @airstallion6034
      @airstallion6034 Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Andrew! In the US we use another formula to calculate the octane. In the Uk as in most places in Europe they use the Research Octane Number (RON) formula. There is another formula used mostly in some countries in the Pacific, Motor Octane Number (MON) formula. In the US we use the Anti-knock Index (ROM + MON)/2. Making the Anti-Knock Index between 4 to 6 numbers lower than your ROM rating for the same gas. Our 93 will be between 97 to 99 octane in your country. I actually buy unleaded 101 for my car that will correspond to 105 to107 in UK.. Just different measurement system.

    My ST3 is my daily as well as my warrior for work trips, the seats are just angled enough where your legs start to ache after 4/5 hours in the car... Same complaint is just driving in traffic in the city. Otherwise the car is great, I moved dressers, fish tanks, ladders everything in this hatch, dont think I'd get any other type of car besides a wagon after this. Keep up the good work!!

    I notice wear on my steering wheel as well, including the threads coming loose where my thumbs sit at the 9 and 3 grips. I've just started wearing driving gloves whenever i'm in the car. That has basically arrested the wear on the wheel almost entirely. I would recommend gloves as well, because not only will they protect the wheel but they also give you more grip. Leather-on-leather ensures no chance of slipping, yet somehow lets you maintain perfect control of how much traction you have on the wheel so you can still let it slip through your hands in parking lots and such. Also with the smooth shifter- gloves are practically a must with dry hands.
    Also BECAUSE RACE CAR

    Nice to see another video on the ST. Wondering why you never upgraded the intercooler, it is probably the best first mod to do to the car. Looking forward to see more videos on the ST and maybe even the collaboration with Cameron. Only recently discovered his channel and he has some nice content as well. No fan of the look of that Tomei exhaust, but in real life it may be not so bad. If I understood correct, Cameron will sell his ST shortly? Anyway this comment is getting to large, try keep up the good stuff and keep strong in the hard Corona times

    Great video brother. I've been considering upgrading to a Quaife ATB LSD on my 2018 ST1. It's not something I see mentioned much in mod lists but the reviews on the Mountune website suggest doing it first before adding any power. Thoughts?

    Hi Gjeebs.
    Currently in self isolation here in Northern Ireland cough cough 🤢😷
    I have the mountune mp275 installed, and I would highly recommend it. Would also recommend that you get a decent intercooler and a gearbox mount for the extra torque as well.
    I am definitely going to get the mountune mp300 that also gives you 480nm of torque. You would need to get a downpipe sports cat for that. Also a good modification to get is the focus rs clutch kit fits perfectly into your st.

    Suggest you look into the Mountune B1 package (Cobb accesport with custom tune and intercooler). With the B1 accesport you can download other tuner's tunes unlike the MP275 package where the accesport is locked for only mountunes mtunes. B1 is $1K and you can get the intercooler piping for around $450. That's $1,450 (B1) vs $2k (MP275). The only thing the MP275 adds is a filter and intake. With the B1 you get a versatile accesport minus a filter and intake. Mountune also recently HAD the quaife LSD on sale for $800 (now back to $1k). I would recommend the B1 package along with the LSD, when it goes back on sale. Although, I bet you can finagle a deal with mountune since your a youtube star

      Hi Gjeebs. I’m living in the SF Bay Area, driving a V8 is really useless (heavy traffic and horrible jams). And my Mustang is a 2015 model, the MyFord Touch system is total garbage. Now I have Sync3! And I got 26 MPG in the city to compare with my Mustang which was 17 MPG. Daily my Mustang has to refill the gas a lot. I put Borla exhaust (sound symposer deleted) and K/N Air intake on my FoST. After the change to FoST, I could take a nap in my back seat and I also get a sunroof. And I love the sound, power (with good MPG), and control (with Recaro) up till now.

    I would have loved to keep my ST, it was great daily driver with plenty of power and lots of space. However in the one year i owned my brand new 2018 ST, it had transmission and brake line issues. Sure its covered under warranty but for a car that had under 9k miles in my opinion it shouldnt be having those kinds of issues.

    I sold my 2013 ST3 about four months ago. I got a loaded Audi A6 Premium Plus with the suspension package, 19” wheels, cold weather package which includes heated steering wheel, four zone HVAC, heated seats front and rear. The car has LED everything including LED headlights! It has virtually the exact same hp & torque 2.0 liter turbo, intercooled four banger as my ST3. One more ft lb of torque...that’s the difference in the two motors output. The big difference is my A6 weighs 800 lbs more than the Ford does. Also I have a ZF 8 Speed Tiptronic transmission vs a 6 speed manual. Yes, I miss shifting but that ZF box is a legend as anyone who is familiar with it already knows. They put that transmission in so many different high end cars it’s ridiculous. I love the Audi experience but I’m not gonna lie, I do miss the playfulness of the ST3. It really is a track car for the street.

      Check if the AGS are still on, if they are that means they most likely never had an intercooler put on and the tuning was not very extreme. Check the condition of the seats and interior thoroughly. If this is very clean, most likely the car was properly maintained. Get VIN number and call ford dealership to make sure there are no outstanding recalls and if there are can they fix them for free. Those are a couple to start

      Go and trade in your ST for a cheap but reliable car that's got low running costs etc. Pay around $5k maybe, don't go too cheap or it'll probably have problems and cost you loads. It will be a boring 2.0 or 1.6 diesel probably, I'm not really sure what's properly reliable in that bracket.
      You might find that the dealer gives you less than $17900 for your car, let's say $15000 at a guess. Then they will add the $2900 to the used car you're buying for $5k and you will end up financing $7900 over however long you need, maybe 3-4 years? Hopefully they will give you more for it, best care scenario is they pay it off completely and you have extra cash to put towards the new cheap runabout.
      That's about the only thing you can do in your situation apart from convincing the mrs to keep the st.
      Oh and next time don't borrow so much, that's where I'm at. I'm doing ok but realise I'm spending too much monthly and it's for 4 years. My next car will probably be an ST tbh but I'm saving up, waiting until my finance is up and then I'll only have to finance about 1/3 of the coat of the car over around 2 years. Plus I'll save up after I've paid off my finance for 6 months or so to save up a lot more so I borrow less.
