Thomas is going to end buying a fully loaded Silverado.
Canyonero?
I think he'll get a prius, you know how Canadians roll.
@@rabid_1BMW M2 2022 for me is as overrated as XM.
So is he going to end buying for everyone? Will people only be allowed to buy base versions?
@@purwantiallan5089You mean the ones with the M engine? The S55? That engine is very boring and sounds like nothing, but creates a ton of power and torque, and the rest of the car is still a playful little thing.
That goddamn XM is a pile of [2 mins of beeping]
Man bonding over the 1 to 2 shift..... brought a tear to my eye. 😂
The BMW M2 2024 has about 475bhp but has poor reliability.
@@purwantiallan5089Even with that not considered, it weighs more than the whole solar system and looks ugly as fcuk compared to this one, and has an engine that might create more power than BMW claims, but sounds like nothing and feels punishing to drive with a manual.
the 1-2 shift issue is related to the clutch delay valve. Remove it and the issue is gone.
@@pascalrobillard6692really? I thought it’s gear ratio
@@gbw4908 I had the same issue on my manual Supra, gone after clutch delay valve delete
I'm not a BMW guy, but this M2 is the sweetest car BMW has made in the last decade. Especially with a manual gearbox. Tomas is going to regret it badly, since cars like this are almost extinct.
I owned one and don’t regret it for a second.
I have an M2C and it's my lil fun toy when I want to drive a manual or when I'm going out in the city and want to park easily. I drive my X6M a lot more and that car is fun as f* to drive. I love them both but it in had to choose one, regrettably it's the X6M
@@jakejohnson6120 of course you couldn’t keep up with the gas consumption, it was an M2 dude not a 220d, next time never bite more than what you can chew..
I too, am NOT particularly a BMW guy nowadays (EXCEPT for the previous M5CS in that green with bronze trim), and, even though I LOVE the E30 325i SE I had, and the E39 5 series in general. But, being one that prefers a good looking Coupe & Saloon - NOT this BIG BULKY SUV sh!te nowadays - but a proper car, I fell in love with the 2 & 4 series when they came out, ESPECIALLY in that gorgeous Aquamarine colour... The colour only comes a close second to my ULTIMATE FAVE - Audi's 'Ara Blue Christal Effect' like on their S3, TT's and such...
😎🇬🇧
I have to say the F82 M4 (last gen) is the most beautiful BMW ever made and one of the best looking cars ever made in my opinion. I does not get old. The dimensions are perfect and aggressive and sporty. I liked the E46 growing up and I loved the sound of the E92, even the bonder was less aggressive and more sleek. The F82 is the perfect M car in my opinion in terms of looks
I get what his going through. I'm in a similar situation. I have the bus for the daily. Subway for the weekends. Train for when I want a little bit more adventure, and lastly a Bicycle. I always question if I should sell my Bicycle.
...sell the train
Mad funny😂
I have a 2018 M2 and THE FIRST THING I DID, was delete that clutch delay valve. Fixed the 1-2 and clutch engagement. HIGHLY recommend to and BMW owners with a 6spd. (I also swapped in some comp seats 😁)
Did same on a 135i and the clutch stopper. So much better engagement.
This has to be done to every bmw since like the e46, it's such a dumb concept
I have a 2018 M2 with a CDV delete. It made things better, for sure, but I wouldn’t say it fixed the issue completely. For what it’s worth though, I have auto rev match disabled though.
yup comp seats are a BIG upgrade, don't understand why thomas thinks the OG seats are better because the comp seats are literally superb
I have an M2C and I've found that when I'm stepping on it from a stop sometimes I totally miss engaging 2nd and feel like I've never driven a manual. What does the clutch delay delete do?
This is a fun daily. Not a weekender, that's the problem.
Edit: As a car guy I always want something fun for everyday (mid powered manual ticks that box) personally I have a manual M4, and the rev match feature makes it very dailyable.
For a weekender I'm talking about something less convenient, high powered, maybe 2 seats, screaming engine. Something more special for a point A to point A drive.
Yup, this is great if you don't *have* to drive something else most days, which he does. He's right to get rid of it.
It's an ok daily as it has a fixed suspension,
Buts it a superb weekender
You nailed it. It's torquey, but you need more of a screamer for weekend b-roads and freeway rips.
Idk why the internet is so obsessed with 'daily' driver this daily driver that. Usually, when you have to debate a car's "daily- ness," it's likely does not possess the most 'quotidian' friendly attributes. It's like nowadays we need that reassurance to have to spend 100% out our time with our heroes and we are afraid to admit....maybe if we drive it 100% of the time it will just become 'another car'.
@@Sabretooth-Biggavel yea, I have the m2 comp and it destroys my back dailying on broken roads

James is basically explaining the life of a watch collector. You buy one watch that does everything, and as you enjoy other watches that is more characterful in certain ways, and you start to drift apart from your GADA(Go Anywhere Do Anything) watch.
Basically that in the car variant, with the M2 being the GADA car. 😁
The solution is to buy a larger watch box. And then another one. Because ohh look a [insert limited edition here]. And then before you know it, you have 50. Then you're thinking of making a drawer setup like Marc from Long Island Watch. Send help 😅

Exactly. If you can only have 1 watch you're getting an Aqua Terra. If you can have 2, you're getting a Cartier Tank and a diver.
This analogy is so relatable for so many people!

Exactly, everyone complains about things they will end up dping.
Because as much as we hate it, the NPCs are also humans, and since they don't care about cars like us, they only care about whats better for them as people, and thus, the cars they buy truly are the best cars we all need and will end up buying, we just are reluctant to do so :(

He will regret this decision
Nah
@@Juras2137he is?
Yeah this car is gorgeous and he is selling not because he doesn't like it or is bored of it but because he just doesn't have enough time to drive it. Definitely will regret this.
I don’t think he will. A great all in one car isn’t needed when you have multiple cars that are great at different things.
That’s when the jack of all trades really shines as a master of none.
@@Kamilr97 Exactly! 1:19 James said it right. When you only have one car, the M2 is perfect. Comfortable and sporty. But when you have multiple cars, that are either more comfortable or sporty than the M2, there is no reason to drive the M2. So why regret it? Also there are so many on the market, you can always buy one again...
NOOOO DON'T SELL IT
IT'S SUCH A GORGEOUS LOOKING CAR RN THOMAS, love what you've created of this project.
I have an F20 M140i and I really feel you on the fuel tank size thing. You put it in sport mode once, and the fuel light comes on.
I forgot that car existed
Its looks amazing. BMW all you had to do was literally nothing.
The CS version is even better. But yeah, the new one is too heavy and numb.
The new M2 looks great, stinks of 80s M8 vibes. 3 and 4 series (current) are some of the worst-looking BMW has ever made though. The G8* pig nose is an abomination
@@GB-oj2gt The new M2 looks like a Scion TC for the price of a BMW. Finally saw on in person up close and it's even worse than the pictures. How the hell did they make their smallest 2 door sports car heavier and physically bigger than Audi's RS3 4 door.
Any update on the Lotus Emira or did you cancel that order?
This is what we need the answer to, because they are everywhere used
Such a great looking car, arguably the last good-looking BMW. I kinda did the same thing with my 911, sold it in favor of a few specialized vehicles. If you can only have one car though, I bet the M2 is fantastic!
This is too relatable haha. I actually owned a 16’ M2 in long beach for 3 years. Now, 5 years later, I recently bought a 21’ M2C and it feels like it’s come full circle. I guess I wasn’t done with it after all. Personally, I prefer the Comp in almost every way. The 1-2 shift struggle is very real, but I almost find it endearing now since the car makes you work a little to drive it well. It’s a special car for sure. Anyway, good luck with the next one!
It is the enthusiast's justification. "I haven't fall out of love with it". Yes, yes you have. And that's okay. As an M2 owner myself, and buying and selling several cars throughout my years I understand this feeling. Its not that you can specifically point out anything wrong with the car (which is why you're saying you still love it), but it just doesn't make your pants tingle anymore. Cars are not logical decisions, and logically the car is great. Perfect even. But as time goes on, everytime you get in, it feels slightly less special. Its part of the human condition. Lucky for us, unlike with women, we're generally welcome to swap in and out of new cars whenever we please!
What are your personal tingly cars? 🥸
@movement2contact I bought a neglected 1980 Fiat Spider that I've been rebuilding bit by bit. That gets me excited. Otherwise my M2C just got new wheels/tires and a 500hp tune on it so pants are still fully tingled.

@movement2contact That's cool bro, learn what you can from wrenching on it yourself! I live in Canada so we don't have Citroen here.
I had a 2017 M2 and did the same thing. Added the Eibach Pro Kit and then some wheel spacers. It was gorgeous! Black and badass. I got compliments all the time. I sold it after 1.5 years of ownership and I miss it every day.
That cliffhanger, you bas...
Woke up and this is the first thing I see… day ruined 😭😭
I miss my OG M2! I bought it a bit before you and sold it last year. Picked it up after my GTI was totaled in a flash flood, so I didn't have a lot of time to consider all options. LOVED that M2! It was unbelievably fun. It was, as you said, a contender as a "forever" car. Last year I succeeded it with a 991.1 C2. I love the C2 just a bit more, but I would have been more than happy to keep that M2 forever.
The fuel thing is so real when it comes to owning this car! I kinda like it as a quirk but it can be really annoying always needing a fill up
A large part of why I ended up with an M4!
@@guyhitchins1723for me i end up with M3 CSL 2003.

How small is the tank
@Mikeselchow An M2 is 52L, an M4 is 60L. Means I can get 380-400 miles from mine without trying too hard.

@@kamilb8232 he bought an older land cruiser, and if i remember correctly, he did import it from japan
You need a proper short shifter for almost any BMW. The 1-2 stock throw is way too long.
In my experience, the gearing is too long, not the throw. It's not the best, but it feels like garbage shifting from 1 to 2 takes forever.
Great video. I own the LCI since summer of 2017. I have contemplated selling it many times but always felt I love it too much and held on to it. Man those comments are spot on: 1-2 shift, ride quality… I am ok with the smaller tank as I did not drive as much as I should (due to ride quality I am driving minivan most of the time😂)
Good luck with the sale and look forward to see your new ride
I love this because like most people he can't hold onto it through the phase where it went from being cool to not cool and then back to being cool. And thats when the appreciation comes back
Welp. This is surely a decision poor Thomas will probably mention he regrets a few years down the line.

Looking to add a C7 manual to compliment my M2 in a couple years
This is so cool. as a kid, when you were still an E46 channel, I was there learning how to drive stick with your videos and seeing you money shift the E46, and a couple weeks ago, I too got an LCI OG M2. I also HATE the 1 to 2 shift in my car, and I feel the same way you do about the fuel tank. sad to see you're getting rid of it, but I certainly love mine and hope to own it for a long time.

As a 3 year OG M2 owner I can relate to a lot of this. It’s an awesome car and not easily replaceable but as a car enthusiast or content creator it’s a must to want new experiences. Looking forward to seeing the new car 👍🏾
I totally understand this. I got rid of my 718 GTS under basically the same circumstances. Loved the car and didn’t think I’d ever part with it but I reached a point where it didn’t make sense to drive it once every other week.
I owned an '18 M2 for only 3 years for the same reason. A great commuter and a pretty fun car but just too heavy to be a truly special fun car. Then WFH became a thing and I didn't need a commuter anymore. I found myself taking the 30AE Miata key almost all the time and it just didn't make sense to keep it anymore. So I sold it and replaced it with a 981 CS. I have a feeling Thomas has an inbounding Porsche.
P.S. BMW's subpar manual was the reason I spec'ed mine with DSG despite I love manual.
I went OG M2 to 991.1 C2. Love the C2 juuust a tad more, but that M2 will forever be loved. So much fun!
I want a BMW for my second car because I plan on having at least two. I have my crossover since 2019 and he's a good daily driver BUT I want an M2 comp or M4 as my second car. Ever since driving my brother's Porsche I realized that my crossover drives but it don't DRIVE and I drive a lot. For pleasure and nessecity and I can't wait to get a BMW because that car will be my driver car lol. I gotta just save money and keep checking the market places 🤞
The fact that cadillac keeps coming up is something none of us could have seen coming during the dark days of caddy
Thank you for posting this - the internal struggle of a car guy to part ways with one of the cars on our journey is tough. Been debating selling my 2020 M2 Competition for the last year, but as described around 2:30 - I just can't bring myself to pull the trigger and actually get rid of it. It's such a good car, but if you don't use it (like I don't use mine) then it just becomes a really pretty paperweight in the garage - which part of me is strangely ok with. Truly a fun car and for the price point, it's hard to beat!

I totally agree with the ‘one car that does everything’ point. The second you have a garage that can have at least ‘a daily driver’ and ‘a weekend toy,’ then M-cars, 911s, or any other practical and reliable sports car becomes less interesting, because you can get a better car for daily driving, and a more special and unique experience giving car for the weekend.
The 911 in question can change up a garage. If it's something like the GT3, it's definitely more special and more in tune to the older more classic 911s. Even more when you stick to the 996/997. The air-cooled ones rock even more in terms of offering a special and unique driving experience...
@@rahulmandala4930 I was referring to a more standard modern 911. Something more comparable to the M2.

Whatever… the look of the new M2 has definitely grown on me. Black sapphire + lowering springs + Apex VS-5RS = 🔥
the new M2 is only for O.G. DTM fans. the design is supposed to harken back to the E30 racer, now whether BMW achieved that or not is up for debate, but apparently that was the idea. once i heard that the look made sense (to me anyway).

Thomas…nobody cares about you selling your M2. As someone who knows his way around media it’s obvious from watching several of the episodes you think very highly of yourself, which, to some degree, can be helpful. However, there is a fine line between arrogance and confidence. In most episodes, you can’t wait for James to stop talking just so you can hear yourself. I understand it’s your channel, however, without James’s pop culture references, his unique sense of humor and frankly his humility I probably wouldn’t watch. It’s funny… I can relate. There is something to be said about owning a jack of all trades unicorn, and then not needing it because you filled the niches. My latest problem is I like having cooled seats AND a sedan/coupe driving experience. So I need to get over that to one day own a C6 or some 60s muscle (something you look back at when you park) which has always been my goal. To each their own and no shame in that.
I own a E46 320ci and the 1 to 2 shift was an issue since then. People think I don't know how to shift.

Such a good looking car. Arguably the best looking bmw in the last 15 years
9:40 😂😂😂
Same, bro. Sometimes you just cant get it to work right from the first time
Thomas and I are apparently on the same car timeline. I even have the same wheels (except their the gun metal looking ones). Selling my OG M2 now too haha. I think I've even used the "driving it to get the rust off the rotors" phrase to explain why I was selling it too...
Agreed with the not really anything I think is better... But one thing that was one of my minuses, at least in the US, is the insurance cost is pretty hefty for me.
Good luck with the sale!
BMW constantly calls me to buy mine. Good money even. Am guessing its the same here.
I had the same car for 3 years. traded it in for a CT4V Blackwing. few of the same complaints. ride quality, fuel tank size, 1-2 shift. but also, it had a ton of road noise and the sound system was bad. so to hear music you had to turn it up really high, which made it boomy and you couldnt hear anyone else in the car. overall though i loved the car, i just needed more space for a family.
10:02 G20 3 series. A model to keep long term. Future classic
I have those same wheels (in satin bronze) on my '22 Supra. Great choice!
Apex makes great wheels, the vs5rs are amazing
Can’t wait to buy one of these next year
The reasons he described why he loves the car is very similar why I've enjoyed by 135i M-Sport so much for the last 8 years and cannot part with it. Especially after putting M3 bits underneath it with a nice LSD in the rear. 6MT 3200lb RWD with upgraded suspension and some tuning (plus other things ;))makes it quicker in a straight line and way more fun to drive than the new M2 (and even the OG). Bonus is that it's gone up in value since I bought it..
The correct path would have been to turn it into a full on track car. Then you could have it sit, not feel bad and only need to bring it out for track days.
