That's the privilege of living in Europe where they're less famous. They were hanging at the merch stand after their show and they're indeed two of the sweetest artists I've ever met. Derek even gave me his bottleneck when I told him that I started to play slide guitar because of him. One of the best shows of my life :-) Thanks for your video!
I too absolutely love Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi (along with the rest of the Tedeschi-Trucks Band). Not only are they incredibly talented musicians, with Derek being the greatest slide guitarist on the planet IMO and Susan having a phenomenal blues vocalist whose voice oozes soul, but they are also incredibly nice people.

When Susan was a new artist I was privileged to watch her captivate an audience with just her guitar and voice and I was hooked instantly. She is a treasure
And...That's the good stuff! I can't think of a guitar player who wouldn't be overshadowed by Derek, but she is an incredible player in her own right and obviously an apex singer. The cohesiveness of this band is stunning. Also, I must say, that was the best flute solo I've ever heard. LoL

I was truly blessed to have seen this very band with the flautist, Kofi Burbage, on a few occasions. Such a beautiful young man taken from us far to soon. Very nice breakdown, brother. It is much appreciated.
They were my last show before covid hit. Seeing Derek live is something else, but seeing how he drirects that monster of a band using the most subtle of body language and music cues was probably the most impressive thing I've ever seen. It's so good.

This is the first “reaction video” I’ve ever watched, and I didn’t have high hopes, I just clicked because I love TTB and I know Susan kills Angel of Montgomery. But it really brought me a lot of joy to see how moved you were. You looked as if you were close to tearing up. That’s the power of music! I love that. I’ve been fortunate to see them many times. Then I watched your video of Midnight in Harlem. I share your reverence for Derek Trucks. You really know your music theory. I wish I had stuck with an instrument instead of wanting to play everything. Anyway, you are the kind of person I’d love to spend time with. I’ll be checking out more videos, I’m sure. Thanks!
I feel the the same way. I was always hesitant to watch "reaction videos" but this is truly special seeing a brother get 'that gleam in his eye' and, as fellow Deadheads who seen them many many times, witness the magic in the reaction he has. Plus Sugaree, that's always been my song ever since I got on the bus long ago...it's a very special old tune and every time I hear it, I feel like I'm hearing it for the first time over and over.
Totally agree man! I came across Mike and had the exact same reaction - Mike's passion and knowledge and enjoyment of the raw emotion of a piece is just great. I agree Derek is possibly the best guitarist right now and I've seen him since he was 13 playing with BB King and Susan is so talented she sends shivers down my spine when she sings!
I’ve watched this Tedeschi Trucks tune over and over and over...so powerful. I don’t “know” music, just feel it, so your tutorial helps me appreciate what I’m feeling while watching it.
TTB performing “Angel From Montgomery/Sugaree” is the BEST thing I have EVER seen on CZcams!!! Nice to know someone else is as big a fan of this amazing band of musicians.
Saw them this past weekend at the Chicago theater, she walked out on crutches because she tore her meniscus dancing at the green mill the night before and she ripped it! Your story about her being sick reminded me. Also they covered angels from Montgomery that night.
I just recently saw TTB in Red Bank, NJ in March of this year. completely, totally blown away. one of the comments below on how Derek directs the band with the slightest of movements, nods, turns, etc. He broke a string on stage, one of the roadies brought out another guitar but Derek had him bring a string. Derek had the keyboad player take on a solo while he changed his guitar string right on stage and the band just kept on playing a very complex rythym. crazy. Susan's voice is so far past 4 dimensions hearing her live will make you cry if you have a heartbeat. just looking at other tour dates now. Beacon theater NY in OCT!
Thanks so much for yet another amazing REACT video, Michael. And Susan Tedeschi...wow. Absolutely incredible. What a musician, performer, singer, guitarist...everything.
