No fancy names needed. This band was formed from the DNA of the Allman brother but with their own style. One of the most incredible bands around.
I was going to say the same thing. If you know you know
He first played with them in 1993, when 13 ... ;)
czcams.com/video/MLQTbmUYI4A/video.html
I can agree based on Derek’s obvious relation to ABB. However, Susan is east coast gal who went to music school. They are fantastic, for sure. Susan is a blues siren.
They owe as much to Col.Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit as they do to the ABB I have heard them both say that
With Susan adding her own flavor....❤
Her cover of angel from Montgomery is absolutely beautiful😊
I love when they do Angel from Montgomery and go into Sugaree
@@lambo90dmc12absolutely
And that's a tough cover after Bonnie Raitt owned it for so long.
@@xelasmada16 Her voice and phrasing remind me a lot of Bonnie.
Yes! And you might like Danger Zone is even better. I love them both.
Susan looking over her shoulder smiling as Derek jams is just BEAUTIFUL
I love them together. Most talented couple there is imo
You don’t have to be a certain age to enjoy that: you just have to know what real music, created by actual real musicians is.
Agreed! This is my favorite band and now my 14 year olds favorite band. We’ve been to a ton of concerts
Greatest living guitar player. One of the best bands currently out there. SO GOOD.
Amen!!
Derek is a wunderkid, absolute savant, and by far the best slide player alive. Until David Gilmour passes on, I can’t agree with you
They are the gold standard of currently touring bands.
Him and Clapton !
I’ll take Julian Lage, but Derek Trucks is certainly amazing and in the conversation.
This version of the band with Kofi and Oteil Burbridge on keys and bass is incredible. RIP Kofi
I miss them both with TTB
@@vickiestennett1965 couldn't agree more! Cheers
Oteil is a G-d.
Not gonna get an argument from me!
Absolutlely! But the replacements are really doing great job too. Love Gabe's voice
Derek Trucks is one of the most accomplished, respected, and talented guitarists in the world, and Susan's vocals are equal to his playing. Great selection for today's video. ❤
What a marriage. Everything seems almost like a conversation between two people in perfect tune with each other. She belts out a song and he answers her😊❤😊❤
Derrick Trucks was a child prodigy and so was Susan Tedushi.
They come from the live music capital of the world Austin, Tx. Derek plays a great slide guitar too
What’s beautiful about the band is they really highlight each individual musician throughout the show.. a must see.
Yes! I appreciated that, giving other musicians a little exposure.
Susan is one of my favorite female voices ❤
I always think of Bonnie Raitt when hearing her. People with better ears help me out.
Both virtuosos.
@@larrypholbrookno you’re bang on 👌 have seen them both live and love them both; Love Bonnie’s voice and slide guitar and Tedeschi Trucksbamd are simply sublime live 🙏
It’s nice to see a married couple who can look at each other and smile. Derek and Susan are both great musicians. I think the track is from Eric Clapton’s Cross Road album
Their concerts are always epic! Yes, totally chill inducing. Derek is arguably the best slide player on planet Earth, but Susan can hold her own, too! Together they are perfection!!
I liked them both as individual artists... then was blown away when they teamed up. Tons of talent on that stage!
They are actually married
They have two kids and a house down in Jacksonville.
And the tons of talent includes the Burbridge brothers playing together, before Kofi passed away and Oteil moved to Dead and Co.
Derek and Susan have been described as 'good people, the salt of the earth folks.' Absolutely right. ❤🔥
I have a friend who has been working for them for nearly a decade. He says it's like a big family.
My wife and I have seen Derek's solo band 35 times, Susan's solo band 30 times and the TTB 25+/- times. Have spoken to them both enough for them to know our names when they used to see us. I've been a music junkie for for 60 years and I'm 73. They are "good people", if not they couldn't play the music they do. All of us fans should be eternally grateful for their influence in our lives!
Salt of the earth until she started ragging on people who refused to be poisoned by Covid shot. Lost all respect for her.
@@jackgtx440it’s people like you that made the lives of my colleagues in the ER and ICUs pure hell. You hate science until you need it to save your life. You anti vaxxers were the worse when you got it. 400,000 people died needlessly because of the anti vax movement and Trumps unwillingness to accept the virus was real. I may be blunt but when you see what I’ve seen this virus do, you get tired of the stupidity.
It doesn't get any better than this. The best touring band on the planet, in my opinion
That explains why we've traveled to multiple states and have seen them 20+ times. We're completely blessed that they do a 2-weekend residency at the Chicago Theater every year and get to catch them relatively nearby. Our favorite band for sure!
Very polite of you to add the 'in my opinion'. :)
This song gives me the chills every time. I have seen them many times. This whole band is just phenomenal.
Polo, your reaction to this great piece was golden. That this was a live performance without the studio control for audio just proves the point of excellence. Something about the tune, the musicianship, vocals, touches deeply. Long live Derek, Susan and the great TTB.
This was in England - Eric Clapton’s Guitar Festival.
@@pockynon 2010 Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago
That look on Susan's face when she looks back, says it all ❤
Can tell by the stage it was Chicago 2010. I gifted myself and my brother tickets to celebrate me surviving a heart attack.
This just a sample of their music , they have so much more.
Derek Trucks is a beast on guitar. If you search Eric Clapton live in San Diego you can see him ripping it up with Clapton and the highlight of that show was the guest appearance from the great JJ Cale. On a side note Susan Tedeschi and Derek trucks are husband and wife
I saw him rip it up on stage with the Allman Brothers Band when he was about 12
Look up Allmans, Into the Mystic. Incredible!
YES. Great reference treydog. I got to see Derek with Eric. What a great pair and they had Doyal Bramhall III on guitar as well. Just a night of guitarsonists. ....
Did you see his performance with Johnny Winters?
Yes they are married and speak beautiful music to one another that s shares just fine to me!!❤
literally the greatest band of all time , they are the GOAT. ive never seen a better live show
The smile that crept onto your face when Susan started singing says it all. I could listen to her sing the phone book and be completely satisfied.
Best band in the world. Maybe the best electric guitar player ever.
The lore is deep with this band.
The history of this band and it’s lineage can be traced back to the Allman Bros. Band. Susan Tedeschi was an established solo blues artist herself and quite the guitarist and slide player as well, but when your husband is Derek Trucks you have one of the very best ever. When they married it made sense to join forces musically as well, thus the formation of the Tedeschi-Trucks Band. Great music through and thru. Enjoy this new rabbit hole!
I was afraid that once Bonnie Raitt stopped singing we would never have another voice like that …..then I heard the first album by Susan Tedeschi….was just blown away….and then when she joined with Derek….knew it was going to be amazing
"Have to be of a certain age..." There's truth to that. I'm 58 and Susan has been on my radar for well over two decades. It's just not the type of music that's gonna make it's way to any Top 40 radio playlist.
Every time I visit a bar and the Jukebox is playing some rather vanilla stream of consciousness I'll pop in a 20 and take a few requests after having already put this song on and throw in a couple of Geneva Magnus and the whole vibe changes. We start getting deep cuts from some of the closet music hounds like me the generally don't have the audacity to interrupt the overplayed mediocrity and standard fare. Vanessa Collier, Etta James, Robert Earl Keen...
She’s a graduate of the best music conservatory in the world, the Berklee School of Music. She studied jazz and blues singing and playing. So many greats have come through there.
Yep. She is amazing. Add Derek Trucks to the equation and it becomes unsolvable.
Great to know, tnx from Dallas,Tx
One of my favorite bands! These are very talented musicians 🎶🎤🎸 Susan has a voice like no other & Derek is the nephew of the late Butch Trucks, drummer for the Allman Brothers Band!! They are top notch!! Another band to check out in this same genre is Gov't Mule led by the amazing Warren Haynes who was also a member of ABB ♥️ Great choice!! Do you take requests from all tiers of your Patreon?
The bass player also played with The Allman Brothers. Great reaction!
@@wallhome464 Derek Trucks also played guitar with Allman Brothers, and he played guitar with Eric Clapton.
There's a great video of Susan, Derek and Warren Haynes covering Etta James I'd Rather Go Blind at the White House for the Obamas which is fantastic
Yeahhh, going to see Govt Mule next weekend and I couldn't be more excited!
Otiel is awesome hes also in Dead & Co.
If you have a chance to see them live, do so! One of the best touring bands right now! Thier live show borders on blues, jazz, rock. So so good!
I second this comment. They tour like crazy. They have a huge catalog of songs, your favorite souls songs, classic rock and originals. You will have a great time. Do not delay, buy some tickets and have fun. The reason I never saw Ray Charles? I'll catch him the next time he's in town.
1000% agree. I've seen them 5 times and there's not another event like it
This song was written by one of her back up singers. I just went to their concert and it was 3 hours long. Amazing band. It includes horn section. Dreck Truck was a child prodigy who played with the Allman Brothers Band at age 13 years old. She can also a great blues guitarist.
Derek is the nephew of Butch Trucks from Allman Bros. His younger brother plays drums in Widespread Panic. The bass player is O’tiel and he has been playing in Dead and Company the last few years. Every one in this band is the Alpha at what they do.
New info for me..thnx..😊
He is also the grand-nephew of Virgil "Fire" Trucks, a major league pitcher for 17 years.
Susan Tedeschi's first album is amazing! She was a teenager! I was blown away by her voice. One song you really need to hear is "Hurt So Bad".
Check out her song In the Garden from an Austin City Limits episode.
She was nominated for a Grammy with that. I remember & said what is this? Omg! I gotta get it & everything after. 🎸
@@mikekottwitz5136 Me too! I heard it while driving, pulled over to write her name down. Killer track
I listen to all kinds of music and I have no idea how I missed this band. I have never heard of them. Absolutely delightful. Thank you for your reaction video. I probably wouldn’t have heard them otherwise. Great vibe, great song.
The lore is very very deep with this band.
DEREK MFING TRUCKS !!!!!! LEGEND The band has a big following!!! Lots of people have no respect for quality music anymore. They are all amazing representing Jacksonville Florida GO SEE THEM LIVE
All their songs are phenomenal. Top notch band. Can’t go wrong.
They are constantly on tour. We see them at least once a year and saw them just a few weeks ago. They have a pretty deep catalog so every show is different, and this includes how differently Derek plays this song’s solo each time. His stage presence is so laid back and Susan’s voice is so strong and never forced. Such a sweet couple who considers their fellow band mates to be family. Such an incredible band.
Oh yeah Tedeschi.. Music for the Heart/ Soul. This song has a healing quality about it. Can't help but have watery eyes at some point, melancholy, beauty, rawness, hope, acceptance. Discovered them only a few years ago when I saw a jam session between Taj Mahal and them here on CZcams. Instantly went out and bought the first 2 CDs i had bought in years to give to my 74 year old father who also has been playing them eversince
Healing quality. Yes. That’s it. ❤
One of if not the best band you've never heard of. They are truly amazing not only as a band and musicians but as people as well. They are just down to earth, humble nice people.
The more you listen to this band, the more you’ll want to listen to this band. So many delicious layers to their sound. So pleased that you’ve discovered them. Love watching your reactions, by the way. Keep ‘em coming.
70 years old, loved every note
The entire band is remarkable... Susan's voice is out-of-this-world... Derek is the epitome of what a guitar prodigy is... there's not much more that can be said...
Thank you for reacting to this one, Polo... I suggested this one quite some time ago, so, I've been waiting for this one...
I've seen them live, it's always a pleasure to see them play and this tune is epic. Derek Trucks is probably the finest slide player there is right now, the whole band is fantastic.
Just beautiful. That large audience was locked in and in that magical moment taking it all in. I have not seen them live yet but I MUST!
That large audience was for Eric Clapton's crossroads concert I believe it was 2007
It's what happens when exceptional musicians get together. Not just someone reciting rhyme to rhythm
IMO, Tedeschi Trucks Band is the top touring band in the country today. Polo, try to catch a show when they come near your town. You won't regret it.
He is the world’s greatest slide guitarist. Derek Trucks has also played with his uncle Butch Trucks ( drummer ) in the Allman Brothers.
These two are just divine here. Great selection!!!!!❤😊
BB King to Derek “that’s as good as I’ve ever heard it”
czcams.com/video/z4zapXPrWt0/video.htmlsi=U0G9P4XIvTFk8yEJ
Polo, props to you for getting hip to one of the greatest bands currently performing. TTB is legendary in the jam band scene. Susan is highly respected as a vocalist, and Derek’s reputation in the guitar community is massive.
Susan Tedeschi's voice is cloak and dagger. She wraps you up in warm velvet and then breaks your heart with the pain that cuts through. One of our greatest living blues singers.
"He was born to love me, I was raised to be his fool." Few lines have ever resonated deeper for me. 🔥
As a worshipper of All Things Allman, I have been familiar with Derek's playing since he was young. He is the best of current guitarists. Hearing him in concert is more awesome than hearing the cd's and videos!
I've seen them a couple of times and they were awesome both times. That woman can play that guitar better than most too.
She's been great for over 20 years. Always gives me goosebumps.
You will never get the same solo twice, but if you are not moved the first time you hear a live version of this song, you are soulless. Best touring band out there.
If you want to hear them tear it up check out live versions of "I Want More" or "Bound for Glory"
Tedeschi Trucks are the pinnacle of Blue Eyed Soul.
Modern ones , there are others . Buddy Widdington , Chris Watson , Robin Sullivan among others .
Yes soul doesn’t know boundary, just passion which all of us have on this planet. I discovered this band about 6-8 years ago they had a connection to the Almond Brothers especially Gregg Almond notice the two drummers thanks Polo.
Derek Trucks is a child prodigy- been playing since he was 9 years old - his Uncle was Butch Trucks, drummer for the Allman Brothers Band. Susan is from Massachusetts - went to the Berklee School of Music - one of our finest music schools.
Susan’s family owns Tedeschi Markets in Massachusetts- a large chain.
Susan has said their two biggest influences are Allman Bros and Sly. lol. All ages are represented at their performances. As one stoned out of his mind millennial told me coming out of a Red Rocks concert, there is nothing in the world sexier than Susan shredding the blues. She is the Goddess and protector of Blues and Rock.
Tedeski Trucks is otherworldly. It's simply beautiful. Every single bandmember is a pro
You gotta see them live to fully appreciate the talent they bring to the stage!!
WoW 🤩 thank you, Sir, for the Introduction to THIS Band!! Terrific Post 🇺🇸❣️🇺🇸
They're all there because they want to be there. They make beautiful music together. All differences aside, they find common ground in the beautiful music. That's how life's supposed to work.
Miss Susan, Mr Dereck and all that incredible band are out of this world. Pure gold. Cheers from Lisbon
This is the band that needs to be celebrated at events like the Grammy's. Bring real music back and get rid of the Cardi B's of the world.
Derek Trucks!!!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Obviously a great song to begin with. THEIR version is beyond incredible. I’ve seen/ heard this over a dozen times. The emotion & powerful performance brings tears to my eyes EVERY TIME!!!
Their version is the original.
How can anyone not like this song?
One of the most talented bands on the planet!
No one does it better than Derek and Susan. And all the band mates are fantastic too.
If it hasn't been mentioned, the 3 song Tiny Desk Concert they do is pretty incredible.
This song is a masterpiece.
Teach the young people about good music. Thank you!!
YES!!!!! The best power couple out there and One of the best touring acts around right now, soooo good! Please keep the TTB coming, def give Let Me Get By, Part of Me, Circles around the sun, or if ya want a straight jam go with Pasaquan! Been seeing em for years and can never get enough
I love this band, and Susan on her own before that is amazing too. Angel from Montgomery, Kosmic Blues, Midnight in Harlem, Let it Burn, so many great songs...
Your approval was evident in that smile from start to finish.
When I first heard this band on a cable music channel, I got full body chills and got teary eyed. His guulitar skills and her voice and the entire 20 person band just amazing.
You've struck gold. These ones are best of the best. Been doing this for a long time. They are a groove. Magical is right.
My exact words the first time I heard them. "Where the hell did THIS band come from? sheesh" quickly followed by, "Who is that guitarist!?" 🙂
I've been listening to Susan Tedeschi for 15 years, at least. This lady sings the hell out of the Blues. I love her, but this is my first time hearing them together. They are fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing this. ❤
Derek Trucks has been thrilling ABB fans since he’s 13. Susan and Oteil fabulous talents. Keep listening as they will never disappoint.
Oh man this is the version without the horn section. Add so much to it but I love it anyway. Just saw them in consort. Such a fun live show! Awesome!!😊❤
Just got this on vinyl today. Such a great band. There is so much talent on that stage. The Studio version has a brass section that just puts it at another level but this live version is amazing. Great reaction.
Derek trucks is probably the best slide guitarist around. Simply amazing
Polo my friend I just started watching your reactions both of their people her father was a great musician Derek trucks was young when I was growing up but he's been with the greatest blues musicians they're both deep in music since they where are young one of the great ones for you to listen to to give you something to focus on is tiny desk concert
I've seen Tedeshi Trucks 3 times. The first time they played this song. Hearing them live is amazing. Hopefully I'll see them again this summer.
These reactions are why we like your channel! Grateful Dead is next on the list!
This was at the 2010 Eric Clapton Crossroads Festival. I've seen TTB 5-6x to date. As someone mentioned, tremendous live band. Unfortunately, Kofi Burbridge (keyboard, flute, etc...) passed in 2019. Their current horn section is one of the best in the business. If you go down this genre rabbit hole, I would suggest Govt Mule, The Marcus King Band, Blackberry Smoke, to name a few.
My youngest son and I saw them in DC early this year and they are incredible! Derek Trucks was a child prodigy on the slide guitar and toured from the age of 9-19, then he played with the Allman Brothers (his uncle, Butch Trucks was their drummer for years) for a few years. He is handily in my top two favorite guitarists. I was blessed to have seen him also, when he was with his own self-titled band before he and Susan decided to team up. So glad you loved it! During COVID they wrote four albums based on a 2000 year old Persian story called Layla and Majnun. The entire set is just incredible! "I Am the Moon: Episode I. Crescent" was released on June 3. "I Am The Moon: Episode II. Ascension" July 1, followed by "I Am The Moon: Episode III. The Fall" on July 29 and "I Am The Moon: Episode IV. Farewell" on Aug. 26.!
I adore them. Amazing musicians. 🎶 ❤
If you get a chance to see this band live, do it. You will not regret it.
They are just so, so good! A real pleasure to listen to them sing and play.
I definitely understand about being old enough to appreciate this style of music 🎵🎶. He definitely has that Allman brothers vibe ,and she is amazing. great band great song and great reaction. Peace my friend ✌️
I don't know about that, I and many others I know love the music from before our time. And I think a lot of people would love it if only they heard it somewhere. But for sure directly after I found Tedeschi Trucks Band I bought my 74 year old dad a CD, together with a Taj Mahal CD because I knew he would love it that oldy :)
Check out the tune Anyhow live in the studio for another great listen to Susan's voice.
Great choice....I've loved this song for a long time. Must have listened hundreds of times. I never tire of hearing it....They do a wonderful version of "Angel from Montgomery"...give it a listen
Susan "Ted es ski", she's a great singer and no slouch on the guitar herself, but Derick is so amazing. Those keyboards, the Hammond B3 organ with the Leslie amp, it's the sound of so much from the 70's on, Gospel to rock and roll
Props to whoever requested this. Derek Trucks is really good but infinitely better live
Undeniable
Derek was a legend with Allman's - carrying Duane's torch and maybe even making it shine brighter. The bass player was also in Allman's ..yeah this is a killer band. Seen them many many times. You should just come hang with me and hear all the good music :)
Allmans, not Allman’s
Another cool thing about this song is that Derek never plays his solo the same way twice, he's amazing in every way!
Saw them last year with Ziggy Marley opening. Outside venue in a gorgeous summer evening, the most chill crowd, such an amazing vibe and one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen live.
I have to listen to this band more- phenomenal!
Derrick Trucks was a child prodigy and nephew of Butch Trucks of the Allman Brothers band- my favorite band for daily listening for over 40 yrs- and Derrick played with the band when he was still a kid
One of the best bands out there. Not flashy, not worried about what the name of the band is but just keeping the quality high. So as to fly under the radar from chumps who think they have already seen everything! Hee hee. Thanks for lending an ear. Keep going brother. Love the channel.
Being from this generation I can’t believe I’ve never heard this song before. It’s going on my playlist right now ❤. Thank you for reacting to this so I can experience it too.
RIP Kofi! Sure miss you, brother! Miss Oteil in the band too! Dead and Company needs him though! I hope you’re fully immersed in this band by now! Simply one of the absolute best bands going! No need to change their name, we know who they are! 😂 I’ve been following Derek since he was about 12 yrs old! 15 years in the Allman Brothers Band! Top tier talent throughput this band!!
Man, what I wouldn’t give to discover this song for the first time again. One of the most soulful songs (and bands) ever.
Nice reaction. Song is written by the backup singer on the right when they show the back up singers. I just saw them 2 months ago, damn fine show.
I’ve followed Susan since her debut and Derek 14 years with the Allman Brother both outstanding talents. Thank you for this one bro.
I B LATE BRO,,, But YES ! You JUST WITNESSED THE GREATEST SLIDE PLAYER IN HISTORY !!! And 1 Of THE GREATEST FEMALE VOCALIST IN THE SAME HISTORY LOL,,, I WITNESSED THIS GREATNESS In AUSTIN TX. 2022, PLA&M ERY~1...
I just saw them 5 nights ago. Seen them twice before. This song is always magical and soulful. Glad you got that and passed it on to your followers.
Yup, Allman Bros DNA, Derek Trucks guitar prodigy…Susan Tedeschi, Berklee College of Music trained musician..after ABB retired, they got together, had kids, got married….formed a band:…2 drummers, horn section, keyboards…large ensemble…Grammy winners.seen them 2x, Ryman Auditorium, the Mother Church…all ages…what talent!
