  • I thought I would add to Winging It Week 43 with a BONUS VIDEO. After the chaos in Sunday's Live Stream, I thought you might like a more 'controlled' tutorial on How to Make a Dorset Button.

Thanks so much. It's now found a new home in my daughter's room - she couldn't get enough of them!

These are so pretty, and I had no idea they're so simple to make!
It's the same centre technique as a flower loom.
I've ordered some larger jump rings so I can make some for my slow stitch projects, and some of these will be perfect for my current needle book slow stitch cover wip.

Hi, I’ve been watching the Dorset buttons video & live. I’ve made a few ( a dozen or so ) but had a really hard time doing the scalloped edge. It never dawned on me to follow the spokes! I had given up but followed you step by step and finally made one that is half decent! Thank you so much.
I put wax only on the ring where the starting thread goes and it helps keep it in place while i start the blanket Stitch. A friend of mine actually put a dab of glue stick! I’m not that brave ,as i redo the same ring a few times when the start is just not right. I’m thinking of trying the zwirnkofe(?) or shirt lace button .if you could share that one ,it would be nice! I have watched some you tubers do it but I’m still hesitant.
    Have a great weekend!

Beatifull Dorset button and I love the scalloped edge, never thought of adding that! You have got so much patience to cover the ring. I usually crochet around the ring which is a bit faster.

Thanks so much. X I have only ever stitched them, but I will have to give crochet a go. I haven't crocheted anything for a while but I do really enjoy it. Maybe another 'rediscovering' video I need to make?!

@@featherstitchhouse I cover the ring using a filet needle/lace shuttle, with enough extra thread on it so I can cut a long enough piece to do all the wraps and the center (and stitching if I'm only using 1 color). I put the needle on, join the stitch at the beginning, then continue as usual with the wrapping.
