- Hey subs! This one took longer than I planned for multiple reasons but in the end, it's worth the wait. Ride along with Denny Stripling as he pilots the Southeast Spec Racer/Lightspeed Motorsports SRF3 at Watkins Glen International in the SCCA Super Tour Feature race. We started on the outside of the front row in the 55 car field and had a killer race for the lead all day. The race ends shockingly and unexpectedly but I won't spoil any more about it here. Comments will stop about halfway through the last lap as the incident was sorted out off the track so there's no reason to litigate it here. Enjoy, and hit me up at Lightspeed Motorsports on Facebook if you're looking for coaching or speed tips!

Wow what a scary place to spin knowing that the field is coming behind you!
This is better than F1
2nd that! Fantastic to watch
I know, I just discovered it. I don't know what it is. It just feels more real.
@@ivankontra3446 it's because all the cars are equal which brings closer racing. Also driver skill really matters here, not having the fastest car
This is fun to watch! Incredible! I love these little SRFs. Nice racing and glad everyone was okay.
Just found your channel and I must say this is some great racing. Keep it up and thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
Nice win! Glad you didn't get hit while sitting on the track. I love your videos. I so want to get into spec ford racing because of your videos. I have no racing experience other than watching races. Please keep posting these awesome videos
Wow, that was a scary ending to the race! Glad everyone got through (mostly) unscathed.
Nearly made me cry, I am a petrol head old Granny sitting at home alone in Australia in this isolation time.
Looks like a lot of fun and very close racing. Happy you survived that shunt on the line. Great stuff!!
You got me hooked buddy. Please keep racing and posting these videos. Keep the comment bubbles too. It's a cool perspective to know what's going through your mind at the time of the hectic stuff.
I know you said no comments, but damn I'm curious to know what he was thinking. Glad you got away from it unhurt and with the win! These videos are awesome
Wow that’s fantastic! Great upload, I enjoyed that 👍🏻
WOW!!!!! Man, that could have been so much worse. What a dink! Great driving sir!
Yeah. Clearly your line didn't alter as the trailing car was attempting the "pass" (before contact). And you got the win so that tells me all I need to know. Really great race!
Great driving,thank you for posting
I salute you for your very modest reaction!
Wow🤯 just terrific racing! Real shame about that ending.... at least you did get the win👍 and well deserved for sure.
LOVE Watkins Glen! Great race! Nice win!
seriously impressive driving! big respect!
Damn denny and I though our cars looked close to hitting on my camera, that probably ended about as well as it could have
After the last corner, FOckin' #39 blue got nuts, even you open the lane for him on the right side.
Anyways, I really enjoyed your video, you change the transmission shift,
always exact 6,700rpm or 87mph, 3rd to 4th, that amazed to me too!
Denny, I noticed after you were spun and came to stop you were on a racing line... then you looked left, saw cars coming, popped the clutch to get your car off-track and to safety. GREAT JOB! Very professional and solid run.
rdgSWwot yep that was full on “I wanna see my kid again!” mode. :)
@@Racer_X Hey Denny... Rob again... I saw the guy who caused the spin was DQ'd. He deserved it but was it just for the dunk spin on you? Or was it for his lousy decision to try what you did safely? In your rearview I saw him throw himself into gear and right into the path of a competitor. I raced sprint cars for 6 years (late 80s, early 90s). Not what an educated driver would do knowing 3 cars were less than 30 yards away!
Nice video
Cameras and telemetry are nice.
good race, too bad that it ended as it did, but thats competition! gotta get each inch you can!
and a well earned 1st place!
no love tap thi time lmao!! yo man these races GOLD. best iv eva seen
What a view!
good job!
SUPER!!!
Wow! WTF what an end! You made it first or second then?
I think a GoPro Max might be a neat camera to put on your cars, and use the adjustable view thing CZcams has.
great
Was this an attempt to slow you down but was too close and got suck into you? Just wondering if nascar strategies work at slower speeds. Great ending btw, not every day you get to see a win + 360 :P
Dang I hope you still got 1st! That guy clearly spun you on a straight
Hummm. Interesting. Just observing... You look were moving to the left, and about a tyre width from the left side white line (30:37) Then contact? Oh well... That's racing. Thanks for posting.
he definitely didn't cross the line first (you can see the car that hit him in front before they get to the line at 30:40 if you pause it and go forward frame by frame) but he says he was awarded the win anyway. the officials obviously saw the same things you did.
@@foxboy64 the contact was unsportsmanlike. The guy spun him to try and win the race.
Great stuff! What engine is in one of these babies?
Ford sigma 1.6l. About 135 HP at the wheels. Engines and transmissions sealed up for spec.
Looks like so much fun have you been to Atlanta motorsports Park
I have not. I’ve run over 40 tracks in NA but that’s not one of them.
I really don't get what the other driver was thinking. You exited the corner and briefly tried to cover his inside move, then realized he was coming hard and so you clearly moved left to leave him tons of racing room to the finish line. You were still heading leftward when he hit you from the right rear in the middle of the track.. like.. what? Was he trying to rub you on purpose or something? Or maybe more nefariously he really did intend to spin you and make it look like a racing incident?
Glad you got awarded the win. Nice job!
Anybody know the specs on these cars? Also are u Allowed to run your own setup? It seems as if some are faster in the straits and others corner better
Tight spec, engines and transmissions sealed. Identical down to the oil filter. All you can do are change set up in a few ways and pedal harder than the next guy. That’s what makes it so great. Thanks for watching!!
"Sorted out off-track."
I wonder how that played out. I would be none too happy.
as mans do
Are you allowed to change gear ratios? 5th seems long for this track
Nope all sealed up and spec.
Interesting ending, good thing everyone was okay. Where did the other guy finish?
BrettMKW DQ’d.
DQ’d.
@@Racer_X Wait they dq'd the guy who spun you?
Back Log yes.
@@Racer_X haha My first thought was that guy had to of been Dq'd glad he got what he deserved and hey really nice racing btw that was fun to watch.
Who won?
My racing experience is all on bicycles, but you'd be surprised at the similarities. Your worst "enemy" (i.e., strongest competitor) becomes your best friend during the race, you work together as much as you can to get away from the other riders. Then, when last lap comes around, your former best friend becomes your friendly enemy and it's each man for himself. Afterwards you're best buds again -- until the next race.
Me too back in the day, no love nudges though! I do miss the buzz.
What or the specs on these cars. Thanks.
Very light, 600 ish kilos. 105HP I think? Full tube frame.
Weese
Again: thanks for the info.
135 hp to the wheel, identical in every way down to the oil filter. 1560 lbs post race minimum with driver. Thanks for watching!
I wouldn't have taken any reason for that ending. There's no excuse for that.
These cars sound and seem to have about the same power and speed as the old formula Ford cars.
Did he hit you? Looked like you were holding your line. I guess he spun too for you to get the win.
He hit him. Denny kept his line on the outside, by the looks of things.
Geez, another video with guys who think this is NASCAR... Terrible place to make contact, and uncalled for, dude had multiple laps to make it happen. I guess this is why they call is "spec wreck". Having run open wheels in FF, there would never be this kind of behavior, risk is too great.. Enjoy watching your races, true professional!
Yep. What looked like a pit maneuver originally actually wasn’t. He just got too close trying to side draft and we touched tires and the toe link on my knuckle snapped which put me in the spin. Regardless, contact that never should have happened, but it very easily could have been a puff of tire smoke and no harm, no foul. Unfortunately it wasn’t. Thanks for watching!!
LOL He dumped you.
wtf was dat end man shit
is this what we call an asshole rival ?
The real "victims" are the folks that might have managed a pass out of the last turn but who were under yellow and couldn't pass. (I assume there was a yellow flag.)
I'll grant you this... that's an interesting take on it.
Of course not implying that you were not a victim! Just saying that a yellow in the last passing zone on the last lap can be a bummer.
Agreed. It was a mess. There was another big wreck after the yellow... after the checkered... AFTER turn 1 on the cool down lap.
