1969 Corvette Coupe..worlds best looking sports car..but get rid of the top to reduce weight. Big block V8 ..wow! That exhaust note.. some amazing cars here.
The noise of those cars is just unbelievable! Today it’s just muffled through 25 turbos and 17 cats.. Back then those cars had a real amazing guttural sound!
Everything I love about this is what's missing in modern racing. But hey, who needs to watch that shit when real racers keep bringing it like this guys!
Grassroots racing is getting lost. The costs plus the distractions all the tech provides people. I'm amazed at the level of bitching from NASCAR fans about the cars not being stock. They don't know what that means, nor do they know hundreds of Stock Car races are held every weekend a few near them. Just go watch one right? idk how racing can be saved without a new PR path.
I'm with you guys on that. Watkins Glen is local to me (about 40 minutes away). They have great vintage events every summer and fall with cars like these. They also have a day where groups of people can take their personal cars out for a couple laps while being photographed. The Chemung Speedrome where NASCAR's Geoff Bodine and his brothers started their racing careers, is only 10 minutes from me. They still hold weekend races there. The old Shangri-la Speedway oval track in Owego, NY closed, but the new owner's opened Skyline drag strip several years ago. I haven't been there, but a few of my friends go for the amateur nights. There are also a few popular 'dirt track' ovals not far from me, like Dundee, NY.
I’m not even a Ford fan, but that 292 Mustang revs to the moon. Fantastic racing from all of them. Somewhere in life I missed my true calling to be a racing driver.
WOW, just saw this Video now. Absolutely brilliant. One of the best i've ever seen. Great track, great drivers and awesome cars. This fast shiftings and high revs, you don't trust your ears. Congratulations. Dieter from Switzerland
Neither Klutt or the Duntov car have 800 hp. What they do have is a ton of blood, sweat, and tears invested in making them the fastest vintage racing cars in the country. The silver 17 Camaro? What a great driver, and I'm sure that with time and the proper crew, he will be gunning for first.
@Ben Cisell What supreme gearhead video. Your uphill esses fixed position shot is orgiastic, everytime it appears thru the 15 mins. Like that first look at Le Mans w McQueen. Klutt my fellow Canadian is, like Ron Fellows, a mild-mannered and articulate automotive badass - likely no one in the Glen paddock knows more - and knows what sounds right, since engine notes, like these magnificent ones, tell the story in song. Note how high the revs made&kept by Klutt on the 454, and leader w 427. Nasty
@Ben Cisell Oh look, dude like me mentioned 60s film vibe - Grand Prix also edits and invents brilliantly (many looks lifted by McQueen film actually) - clock hands tick, a flag waves in slo-mo, tailpipes belch, etc Heaviest moment of all is the mutli-screen Monza in Frankenheimer's movie, w music theme - cannot watch this without crying. Wonder whether this sublim psych affects others? I bet the Internet is the place to find out. PS Mr C need an expert pro narrator for this worthy project?
Peter Klutt and the other Vette have well over 800 hp, the silver 17 Camaro only has , well I dont want to let every one know, so thats why they were so fast. At Mid O the Camaro will eat the Vettes up!
the guy in the Mustang has awful throttle control. A throttle should have 4 inches idle to floored. He sounds like his foot is bouncing around and the throttle is an on off switch. Smooth that out and he'll be quite a bit faster. Nice race, those boys are flying low.
This COULD have been a great video. But the editing was terrible. Just as you see one view, it jumps to another car. Would have been nice to see a full lap from one car before jumping to another. I raced there against several of these cars when they were not considered "vintage", but going for national points.
I don't know what this was recorded on (sound) but its not right. Sounds horrible. I've been around those cars & they don't sound this way. This is weird.
Watkins glen, so a bunch of rich guys bought race cars and proceed to sloppily pound them around the track for the yuppie car show there every year. Seriously, I am glad for the footage but there are videos showing much better driving all over youtube. I mean I am glad the cars are still kicking and motorsport needs this, but let's call this what it is, a bunch of super rich amateurs in a fast moving car show.
This is beautiful. No booth yapping. Just motor music

I totally agree.. absolutely beautiful car. Early C3s.
Real racing!! Love it, would love to this
Thumbs up for that screaming sweet Mustang. That engine sounds incredible. Got a lot of grunt too for the smallest engine of the camera cars.
The noise of those cars is just unbelievable!
Today it’s just muffled through 25 turbos and 17 cats..
Back then those cars had a real amazing guttural sound!
It's called "POWER to WEIGHT"!!
Really well done video! Great watch
Those 2 vettes in the front were going HARD

The C3 cars are just brilliant!!!
I haven't enjoyed a race video that much since the TA series. Nicely done, beautiful cars, beautiful track, beautiful sounds! Thanks for sharing.
what a rush, thank you
I know it is Watkins Glen.... but looks like heaven to me...
Excellent video, those small block mustangs can really crank up the R's
I really enjoyed this movie, it turned on all my old racing memories! Thanks a lot!
I see the LIKE button, but where's the LOVE button??
Great editing Ben!
That fella racing in that half of a corvette was fast as hell!

one of the best races i have ever seen! amazing cars and amazing footage ! thank you.
I love drag racing but this is a thousand times better.
Super cool cars...great editing. I feel like I`m watching an old movie staring James Garner and Paul Newman!
What a great selection of cars!
Excellent video and sound. I love the old A and B Production and A Sedan classes. Grew up on this stuff.
Tucker Carlson

Great job as director, thanks for this
The early C3 has this shape..it's in the class of early Jaguars, Ferraris..just stunning to watch.
Super job assembling all of this race.
That was good stuff, great group of cars and loved all the cameras.
that was awesome!
hope to make it down there next year for the vintage races
Kurt Vogt's Mustang sounds fantastic, it gave me goosebumps. Thanks for the upload, and I also subbed.
Always a great event. We go every year driving down in our vintage British street cars. This is my favorite race group of the weekend.
Awesome.......just awesome!
Fantastic!
just epic all these legendary cars and good drivers and the goo old true feeling your car and gritty manual stick!!!! thats how it should be
Raced many years ago. Wish I could afford it now:-( Back in our day race entry fees were $25.00 for the entire weekend.
Spectacular footage. Subscribed.
what a great video, so well produced.....
Wow amazing footage thanks for the upload. ;)
Awesome race

Good footage
very nicely done video, super!
nice race. hope to get around the track one day
Very cool ! I'll look forward to seeing your movie. Just subscribed so I won't miss it.
Lots and lots of suspension mods and tuning.
The C3 Corvettes are sexy as hell!!
I totally agree.. very very sexy.
Fawesome video! INCREDIABLE editing!!!! The terrific action makes my blood boil and it's the middle of the winter. Thanks! GREAT video!
17 camaro, sean ryan, im a huge patrick and sean ryan fan at mid-ohio, group 6 rules!

Great job guys perth wa
The funny thing is, I drive my minivan like that on shopping trips.
vette city great shit!
Great Race....did the Cobra get 3rd Place?????
Watching this is 100 times more exciting than watching IMSA or DTM with their PlayStation cookie cutter cars.
r a w
These guys seem to be quite good at driving. Are they just gentlemen drivers or ex professional racers?
Peter Klutt and the other Vette have well over 800 hp, the silver 17 Camaro only has , well I dont want to let every one know, so thats why they were so fast. At Mid O the Camaro will eat the Vettes up!
I thought the guy in 2nd was Sam Posey
Note: The driver in the white Mustang is really working hard!
Who's car is this silver 1970 Camaro?
The poor guy in the orange Mustang has the prettiest car on the track but he's afraid to get it dented.
giggle a minute...
Not much of that 911 in the picture.
My 77 vette handles like a sloppy boat. Help
Curt not Kurt. lol
Boy that 454...just didn't have enough brass to hang with that high strung 427.. The 427 is to race cars what the Kawasaki H2 is to motorcycles
I need names. My 77 vette handles like poop
Still a beautiful car.
the guy in the Mustang has awful throttle control. A throttle should have 4 inches idle to floored. He sounds like his foot is bouncing around and the throttle is an on off switch. Smooth that out and he'll be quite a bit faster. Nice race, those boys are flying low.
505197 I believe the drive just doesn't has what it takes...
+505197 I noticed that too. Stabbing the throttle after letting out is not gonna correct your oversteer. Got to be smooth
I want my farts to sound like this. And smell like racing gas.
Lmmao wtf rofdl

HSR vintage racing is more interesting.
who was that stupid guy, who said american cars dont steering?
