this is so easy...always do your work at 22.00 and no one is in the kitchen and everyone is sleeping...and im having pious in rattay jailed...but this is one of the bloody annoying quest ive ever had to play in my life...

especially the ones that chase you in walking pace if u avoid them ... I would go from behind and stranggle these bastards ... wasted a whole day on this quest line ....

Thanks for the great guide. First, I was amazed by the atmosphere, doing all the side quests and meanwhile do stealthy research who is the guy, careful to not to reveal myself. In short apparently it took too long and I was stopped by the Angry guy and put to jail and then I was expelled from the monastery. WTF. Then I looked to this video. I had to tell the victim that I'm going to kill him! Quest done in 10 minutes. One of the most ridiculous quests I've ever played.

Same. Loved that quest until I realized there was no way to complete "correctly". The correct way to do the quest is to tell Radzig about it. He wants you to arrest Pious, not kill him. The correct thing to do when infiltrating is to not trust the first person you meet. The correct thing to do is to make friends in high places, get the lock picks, get dirt on people, gather evidence. The correct thing to do is to follow the lead that the Prior has information on the background of the novices and to get that information. The correct way to interpret the evidence is to understand that pious is (by elimination) the one whose backstory is foggy, and who already had the skill set of a priest.
And then, the correct way to deal with it should be to lure him out the the monastery, either by telling him you know he's pious and that the Neuhof raiders are hot on his heels, or by blackmailing him into sneaking out then ambushing him, or by exploiting his religious nature and making up a prophecy. It would also be correct to tie him up while he sleeps and leave through the back door. It would also be correct to tell the Prior about everything and arrange for him to be delivered to the guards. It would also be correct to realise that you can make the lullabye potion with the ingredients found inside the monastery (they would just need to add poppy) and to slip it into his meal.
None of these logical courses of action exist. Once you've figured out who pious is, all you have to do is complete a bunch of side quests that get you nowhere, then look it up online, and realise that you had to do it incorrectly for the quest to amount to anything.

I stayed up for to 3 am, which is now and I'm writing this to spread the word that this is a pain in the ass and you should talk to The Dude before so you can arrange the meeting. I had to wait another whole day just because I talked to him too late during the evening so try to do it before evening mass, then meet up after evening mass.

Am i the only one who was really pissed that you cant accuse/arrest him without getting poisoned? I mean the Prior even wrote in his book that he doesn't believe the merchant story...
There are other ways you can do this mission
I'm having the same frustration. I went through all this effort to hide my motives and get on the good side of people to get lockpicks, keys, books, etc. Then I break into the Prior's room and find the info I need.
I then want to go to Pious and tell him "The Neuhof gang is on your heels, I was hired to kill you but also hired to bring you back to safety, I'm your only chance, come with me".
But there's no dialogue option for that.
Then I look it up and all my efforts were for nothing, I should have been an idiot who confessed his motive right away. Not only that, the only way to save Pious involves saying that you intend to kill him.
How does that make any sense? How to people who want to save Pious reach that outcome without looking it up?
I never got to the poison part i literally just arrived confessed to him and immediately got the option to accuse lol.
My third time playing through I actually enjoyed this mission this time around. It’s the first time I’ve bothered with alchemy, so I made lots of marigold decoration and other portions while I was working. I could never get the Latin translation right though
Well I spent 3 hours trying this and eventually got so frustrated that I just loaded up a previous save and slaughtered until the objective was done only to find out when I light the signal and the ask me for proof I could just say “oh pious had some money on him” and then give the guy some money and mission accomplished. I’m a heartbroken monster damned to hell...

By the way as soon as you get poisoned and wake up if you immediately break into the kitchen the blood is already there no need to order and you can just run and grab the key turn this into a 5min quest. Unless they patched it recently

Honestly I enjoyed this unique quest, but I had immense lag in certain parts of the monastery... so that made things really painful.

Seriously fuck this quest. I love this game I put 50 hours into in the first couple of days alone and I decided to finally go and really play through the main quest line and I get to this shit. So far I loved the game but the devs fucked up on this one. When I first tried it I did It without the help of CZcams because I wanted to do it myself but I spent 2 hours getting no where. I then went through about 5 videos on this quest and spent another 3 hours trying to complete it. A lot of times the brother u had to kill would just always be asleep and no matter what I did whether I called him out or let him poison me. Long story short I wasted 5-6 hours of time on one stupid, repetitive, boring, buggy, and frustrating quest and I’m glad it’s finally over. PS if your mad about this quest just yell out loud in rage and also rant on CZcams commmets it’s really helps👍🏼. Another thing ty so much for this video it probably saved me another 3 hours, your the best man keep it up

Right after defeating him, the map screen opens and you are headed to Rattay, right? The problem is whenever I get there, the game enters a loading loop. Does anyone know how to fix that?

I have spent hours on this dull frustrating quest. I get an infinite loading Every time i fight pius, and knock him out to take him to balif after escaping monastery with him. Anyone else had this?

it doesn't say to me i'm poisoned, maybe because did i succes in eloquence? Or maybe have i try to wait the next day? I am too much day in that monastery.
i became a monk then i took the monastery key from the storage room next to the kitchen then i opened the door (its in the corridor) which led me outside. Before the quest i stashed my gear on my horse so when i got outside i just accessed my horse inventory and took my sword. After that i went upstairs to the living quarters killed Pious. DONT FORGET TO LOOT THE DICE After that the guards took me to jail for 7 days. Quest done.
I keep getting the glitch where if I want to skip time some guy keeps accusing me of crimes I haven't committed and get thrown in jail. what am I supposed to do?

So I got money to buy a lockpick to eventually sneak into the prior's chamber and read the entries on the novices, all the while involving myself in an intrigue for the succession, finding the key from the sleeping librarian and steeling a book from Avicenne... then with the Prior's notes I guess that Antonio is the one with the unknown backstory; Pious!
And then, I realise that there is no way to outright tell him "I know that you're Pious", and that I should have been a bumbling fool confessing to him right from the start so I could get poisoned?
BROTHER! "It seems you didn't do your duties" (me slowly pulling out my sword with horrendous murderous intent).

There are different ways of doing it, this is the most straightforward way.

But how do you know that he is pious? There is no way to find out, except for telling Antonius that you are searching for him and that you are going to murder the pious if you find him. If you do anything differently, you can never find out who the pious is. They mentioned several times that the prior had a book with background information about the novices. So I found the dagger and the 200 coin from Cornelius. I paid Keller to steal the key of the prior for the 200 coins and got the key that way. I sneaked into his room when he slept and read the backstories of the other novices, and even then Henry says "hmm, I still don't know who the pious is."
i just killed him in a fist fight when he woke me up from the poison.
Again, he only poisons you and reveals to you that he is pious if you tell him that you are searching for him *and* that you are going to kill pious.
They have to make a terrible/ difficult level/quest in every great video game or God from Heaven above wont allow it to stay on Earth

This quest is a pain in the ass, same with the first major battle quest in Previtslavitz. I had a hell of a time trying to figure out what to do to get out of the monestary, I eventually got impatient and looked it up online. And even then i was having a hard time with that fucking hall monitor priest constantly stopping me . It took a long time but I eventually got to the point where I killed the dude I was looking for, and finally got out of that fucking place. And even after this quest, I still keep getting notifications to do my daily chores at the church. May be the worst level I ever experienced in a video game, if not then its up there in the top 5 all time.
at what time do I got to those rooms at the back of the kitchen

HyperSoda R.I.P if you had your items in your inventory when you entered the monastery, you gave the monastery your items, you have to reload and put them in your chest near your bed in the rattay mill if you want to keep your items. Atleast i think that is what happens.
You get the dice if you choose to let him go, but you have to steal your things back from the monastery chest unless you stored them in your own chest. If you arrested him, then you will automatically get your items back but not sure if you get the dice or not.
I did all this but it does not say I am poisoned how long do I have to wait until I am poisoned and does it have to be waiting when eating

When you take him back to bailiff, you get your stuff back instantly plus they will not have stolen on them

Yes, but you might have to eat more than once - the poison triggered for me on the second meal after revealing myself to Pious, but not the first. It might have been a coincidence, though - I didn't skip time during the first meal, but did on the second, so maybe that's what triggers it. Either way, the perk doesn't stop you from getting poisoned.
Amazing quest. I lived in the monastery for a in game week before I figured everything out and did all the sidequests (except bad habits because I ratted those pigs to the prior) :D ANYWAY IF YOU DONT GET POISONED AT BREAKFAST just continue on with your day and he will poison you in the evening. I think it depends on when you speak to him about that, I spoke to him after supper and he poisoned me the next supper. Maybe he tries to kill you in the morning only if you speak to him before noon.

Really!? First thing I did was stash everything including money on my horse. Never even touched the chest. Had to kill the mark. Fucking grocery list wouldn’t spawn.

Every time I interact with the paper to order the blood and then come back during breakfast, it doesn't appear. Is anyone else facing a similar issue or has dealt with it already?
you have to wait two days technically. Don't be like me and get caught 4 minutes before the end of vespers one foot outside of the door without having saved.

I was doing the quest just fine, when I finally got the key and the blood, I was on my way from the mass to the breakfeast and a fucking asshole arrested me, now I've lost the Quest Items.
