The melee combat system in Kingdom Come:Deliverance is centered around the Master Strike; But if you wish to include additional movesets that will make fighting look really cool-then feigned attacks, dodging, and combos are the way to go. In this video,we’ll cover everything that you should know about them. Kingdom Come:Deliverance is a medieval rpg game set in Bohemia at 1403,developed by Warhorse Studios and published by Deep Silver. - Hry
Here's a tip: Training defence is how you increase the window for perfect block and master strike. You can practice with Bernard (wooden weapons with a shield) and just hold block.
Every normal block is 2xp. Perfect block with worth 8xp. A master strike is worth 16 AS LONG AS the master strike performed actually blocks an attack.
This video is nearly academic in its execution; a rare thing to see on CZcams, where guides instead tend to be hastily cobbled together gameplay with just "lets wing it" explanation.
Bravo, sir.
Thank you,Richardsn.👍
@@ThatOtherGamer Keep the great content coming.
Another very informative video...once again! Many thanks, and...Jesus Christ be praised! 😊👌
Hello,Yvinnthon. Thanks for watching!
Finally a good creator for KCD ❤
Hi,TB124. Thanks for watching!👍
I needed this video 3 years ago...
One thing I would like to add is that the higher your Warfare skill is the harder it is for enemies to perfect block/master strike your combos -- which means 4 hit combos become more and more likely especially against opponents who are not as skilled as you.
recently started another playthrough after playing it last when it came out because i heard the sequel is coming out
this was a good vid to refresh my mind of the basic controls
i look forward to you making more vids for the sequel
Thanks for watching,stahp831.👍
Thanks - really appreciate these tips!
Great Video! Could you make a video showcasing all the helmets and their helmet vision effects? (How your vision is constricted while wearing each helmet). I've seen videos showing the helmets, but not the helmet vision which seemed like a missed opportunity.
New sub. Great vids. KCD is next for me to play.
Combos can be tricky to pull off and I've noticed that if uf you try to pull off the same one over and one, the enemy will be more likely to interrupt or counter. But if you mix it up or use fients frequently you'll be more likely to land them. Combo it with the perk that increases famage with consecutive hits.
This really shines when the enemy gets down to low or no stamina. I was getting ambushed once and was stuck a minute from death via bleedout. Managed to get through the "leader's" defense and snowballed three combos with my akmost broken sword, then got the other two down with master strikes and false edge.
Was at 1 HP when i stopped the bleeding. I felt like such a badass.
I find the best way to execute combos is when you mix them up in strings of swings and stabs
Thanks, I've been playing with the mod "immersive combat compilation" and feints are the most useful tool on this mod, aside from PB but for atk feint os the way to go
Man,I really need to try that mod sometime. Thanks for watching, gothicllo.👍
Thanks for the research!
Thanks for watching,MiSt.👍
Great video! Have you tried playing with the Better Combat mod? I just installed it and I’d like to hear your thoughts and tips on it.
Thanks for watching! I've been meaning to try that,Theo. Better Combat And Immersion Compilation, right?
Can you tell us which are the combos that objectively deal the most damage to an armored opponent? Is there any way to find out to distribute our early perk points wisely...
I still don't understand how you do combos. Do I need to enable first Combos from Bernard. I have the perk enabled, but I can't seem to trigger one combo. Does the first strike in the combo have to hit and not be blocked ? Do you need to do all 3 moves as soon as the previous one finishes? I need the for dummies guide
The second and the last tip 😮 I actually rode that horse everytime too. Smh
I can’t get any combo to work. Even the basic one that Bernard teaches, I can’t get it to work, he just keeps shouting “no” at me
If I know anything about how the AI works, executing advanced comabt moves on lower level enemies, like dodging, will make them more likely to surrender due to being outmatched in skill. In turn, with the taunt perk, it'll seem to almost force them to surrender
Question I can't seem to find an answer to. Everything is telling me to train with Bernard to unlock master strike. He's not at the training grounds, I've already passed that point and on to investigating Limpy. Does he go back at some point, or did I just miss this major point in combat?
yes he comes back after you finish part of that quest.
that is the only point of the story where bernard leaves training grounds.
but kudos to you for coming that far without unlocking master strikes
Did you report back to him after you found Ginger?
everytime i try to use the move where u strike from above and then side and then l;eft below it fails at very fist strike or 2nd. enemy either dodge or block. even common bandits got defense
It doesn't work all the time by design, some opponents seem to be better at defense than others. Try it at the tourney, the first challenger is easier than the rest according to my tests.
Try training your warfare skill, the lower it is, the easier it is for enemies to parry your attacks, on the contrary, the higher it is, the harder it is for enemies to parry your attacks
Also master strike
Wait…. ARE NONE OF MY COMBOS WORKING BECAUSE MY SHIELD IS EQUIPPED!?!?!?
depends.
you have combos for different types of weapons.
two handed combos cannot be used with shield and one hand weapon, and vice versa.
but there are combos for one hand sword that can be used while having shield equipped
I wish combos were more viable… especially when your stats are higher. It’s just the chance of a baddie getting a master strike on you is too high in my opinion. Like maybe a perk that allows you to dodge an opponent’s master strike, or for each NPC they have a certain weakness. Like maybe they favor a side for master strikes, or they don’t do master strikes but are really good at interrupting combos. I love this game, but I do wish once you are maxed out on a weapon and related skills, the combat could change from defensive to more aggressive without such a disruptive amount of opponents master strikes. Just my opinion don’t bully me saying “the game is realistic stfu” lol. I get it, I just want a thing haha
spam master strike and don't bother. after a master strike stab in the face with sword or smash head with mace. don't bother comboing, the only good combos only those that target head. and at that point you should drop combos and just strike in the head anyway. combos that target the body or limbs perform worse. for example, look at the one on 7:53 - this combo barely did any damage whatsoever and a stab in the face might take about 50% hp. also, only first hit after a master strike is guaranteed, the second one is a gamble - you might as well recieve a master strike yourself
it stays true even with Better Combat And Something Something mod, it just gets more difficult. however, without this mod you may be pinushed for each attack you perform with master strike, so with this mod master strikes are not your only option anymore
It's really unfortunate how much they botched the implementation of combat in this game. I hope the second installment does better. There are quite a few cool options here - including the combos with, apparently, various effects, the clinching, dodging and ripostes. Unfortunately the entire game just comes down to only Master strike every fight and everything else is tangential. The game punishes taking incentive way too much by allowing opponents to master strike you in return. Higher level enemies especially are impossible to land a single strike on without taking damage yourself in return.
Dodging is also a big "ok nice, but why?". Like you yourself already stated: a dodged attack will not allow you to follow anything up. So why would you ever dodge then? I think part of the reason the resulting system is so strange is because they wanted to make it "realistic" first and foremost.
There's no point to dodging in kcd1 except for triggering the taunt perk and to look cool. I'm hoping for some good news to the combat system of 2.🤞
Standard mode is so easy you don't need any strategy or skill.
